armchairgmParticipantThose are the NBA comparisons I like the best for the players. The ranges are what draft sites are predicting where they will get drafted so yes that would mean I think RJ Hampton is being overvalued or will be a bust and Makur Maker is being undervalued or will be a steal/sleeper.

armchairgmParticipantHaha have to have a thorough data base for when I get around to making my mock draft once we know who is picking where. Also have had a lot of free time lately since we are all stuck at home due to Corona Virus.

jmackParticipantSo hold on, you think this is going to be the deepest draft of all time?!?!? You think that this draft is going to include clone’s of former superstars like Kevin Garnett, Amare Stoudemire, Shawn Marion, Rashard Lewis, Jason Williams, and Latrell Sprewell? And current stars like Oladipo, Whiteside, Jrue Holliday, De’Angelo Russell, VanVleet, Sabonis, Gilgeous-Alexander, Middleton, and Lou Williams. On top of that you have 2 Adebayo’s, 2 Gallinari’s, and 2 Siakam’s??? Thats 21 really really good if not great players.

armchairgmParticipantYes I feel this is a deep draft from top to bottom for guys who will make good NBA players, but the top end of the draft is not very deep with stars. I think your version of star and mine is different, I mean if the top two projected picks are compared to Oladipo and Whiteside the top end of the draft isn’t that great.

jmackParticipantSo based on your comparisons this is what a “re-do draft” someone always does on the internet in 5-10 years should look like. If 15% of your comparisons are even somewhat close, I will hold you as one of the most essential draft experts of my time!
1 Maker
2 Toppin
3 Stanley
4 Dosunmu
5 Edwards
6 Hayes
7 Tyler Bey
8 Maledon
9 Sylla
10 Achiuwa
11 Okongwu
12 Perry
13 Saddiq Bey
14 Vernon Carey
15 Riller
16 Maxey
17 Wiseman
18 Ball
19 Tillie
20 Patrick Williams0- Posted on: Tue, 04/28/2020 - 1:44am #1229647

armchairgmParticipantEven based off my NBA comparisons your 1-20 is not correct. Again I think we value different players differently. You think Fred Van Vleet is a better NBA player than Jason Williams was as one example, have Jrue Holiday over Victor Oladipo as well, etc.
Would be very curious to see who your Top 10 players of All Time are.0

jmackParticipantLook up Jason Williams numbers please. I mean I am almost 40 and watched all these guys you mentioned play. As much as I loved watching Jason Williams, he was all flash. He was a 10 and 6 guy who played for 5 teams in 11 years. We are talking about white chocolate here not the Jason Williams that shot his limo driver right!?
There are plenty of average guys in the NBA who are 10 and 6 guys. His BEST season was 15 and 8. VanVleet this year was 18 and 7 and he is 26. So yeah, no way is Jason Williams head and shoulders above VanVleet. Then you bring up the comparison between Oladipo and Holiday like one is much better than the other??? I would consider them pretty comparable. Oladipo was the best player on the Pacers team that took the Cavs to 7. As much as I like Holiday, he has never been the best player on a playoff team. He is a good number 2 or 3 guy. He has been in the NBA 11 years and has averaged over 20 points one season.
And since your curious, here is my top ten during my lifetime of watching the NBA (1980s – present). I wont pretend to talk about players that I have never seen play before: 1. Jordan 2. Lebron 3. Magic 4. Bird 5. Kobe 6. Duncan 7. Shaq 8. Hakeem 9. Malone 10. Makur Maker……I mean Kevin Garnett

armchairgmParticipantI am 40 as well too. I didn’t say Jason Williams is head and shoulders above Fred VanVleet, but I believe as of right now he is better than VanVleet. He was def. more consistent throughout his career, if Fred VanVleet continues to improve or hold his numbers of this year then yes he would surpass him. Again Holiday and Oladipo are close too, but Oladipo is better in my eyes. Don’t need to look up stats I am well informed on stats and player accomplishments.
Not saying I am right or you are, this is a good debate, but I am a very informed fan and I follow the NBA very closely and the draft has always been a thing I like to follow closely. I have worked in basketball as a collegiate coach and high school varsity coach for 19 years. I have coached guys who have played in the NBA and have worked in the pre-draft capacity for a few years as an intern helping prepare guys for the draft.
My top 10 of All Time
1.Kareem Abdul Jabbar
2. Michael Jordan
3. Bill Russell
4. Kobe Bryant
5. Lebron James
6. Wilt Chamberlain
7. Magic Johnson
8. Tim Duncan
9. Shaquille O’Neal
10. Larry Bird0 - AuthorPosts
