How and why is Aaron Gordon projected as a lottery pick let alone a top 10 pick? Obviously Gordon is a very talented player but there is NO way he’s in the same class as guys like Wiggins, Parker or Randle. Gordon is listed at 6’9 225 but im sure he’s smaller than that. Gordon has said many times that he sees himself as small forward and that he if he’s fortunate enough to play at the next level he wants to be a 2/3. If u have seen Gordon play you know that just wont happen. Its like everyone knows he going to have to play power forward but himself. IDK y people compare him to Griffin when Gordon is least 30 pounds lighter and just doesn’t have the post game and strength  that griffin had and he just cant overpower and bully opponents on the block and looking at Gordon’s body and frame I don’t seem getting anywhere near that big. Now I do think Defensively Gordon can match up with some small forwards and the next level but I have NO idea how Gordon will score at the next level at either forward positions. Most of his points come off crashing the offensive glass, running the floor, hustle plays and things like that and his Offensive game a Long way to go if he wants to drafted where people have him.

Aaron Gordon is really talented and has great potential but, you just don’t know what your going to get out of  him. He is most definitely a PF at the next level he cant handle the ball well enough to play SF at the next level. Even though both of them can jump out the gym I don’t like the Blake Griffin comparisons. Different body types and Griffin was a much better rebounder at this point and much stronger.

Ive seen Shawn Marion thrown around, and i like that look for what type of role he’d excel at.

Are you saying everyone in top 10 is in the same class as these 3?…After the top 6 or so,its a crapshoot. As a 3/4 he has some potential as a starter.

First of all everyone needs to understand that comparisons aren’t a projection of how good the impact they will be at the next level but rather based off the style of play. I like the Marion comparison much more since Gordon is closer to 6’7 than 6’9. If he wants to play the 3 at the next level he’s going to need more than one year at Zona, his jumper and handles are not nearly where they would need to be. IMO he’s an undersized 4 who will make up for it with athleticism and hustle. No he’s not on Wiggins, Parker, Randle etc. level but it only takes one team to fall in love with his jumping ability and speed.

I remember a guy drafted by the 76ers who was a highly touted SF out of HS. Compared to Paul Pierce I believe. That was Thad Young. I can see a niche like that carved out for Gordon. Or if he really excels the Shawn Marion thing can fit. There is nothing wrong with being a hybrid forward, especially in today’s game. You just have to embrace it and do the things you do well. If he hustles and plays hard then there is a spit for him.

"There is nothing wrong with being a hybrid forward, especially in today’s game… when you can shoot from outside"… which I don’t think Aaron Gordon will do at the next level. The Shawn Marion comparison isn’t a crazy one… Marion was an elite perimeter defender in his prime, though.

I will never say a guy can’t be a SF in the NBA after seeing Draymond Green somehow make the transition.

I like Gordon a lot in terms of a college player.  Still figuring out how I feel about him as an NBA player.

Gordon’s wingspan,  reach, and athleticism are all superior to Randle. The data is easily available if you want to compare. He also outplayed and beat Jabari Parker recently.  Let’s not act like he doesn’t have anything going for him.

I also like the Marion comps. Not quite as good of a shooter, but definitely has the same skillset as the Matrix.

Great potential at the 3. I disagree. He handles it well and he passes it well too. Improve j and he is a highly skilled and athletic 3. High on him as a prospect.

I think Aaron Gordon needs to work on his skill set, but the upside is there. He’s a bouncy athlete and he’s very active, but I need to see more from him in terms of shooting and handling. And gaining muscle wouldnt necesarily be a bad thing either, despite the fact that he is wiry strong right now
