one of the things that will be disccused during the CBA, is the retraction of 2+ NBA teams,

New Orleans, a small Market team that is owned by the NBA, is the obvious choice for one of those teams (if it happens)

every one thinks that a second small market team also goes.

But the more I have thought about it, the more I am leaning to the Clippers as the obvious choice.

    1) The Kings move to Anaheim, puts 3 teams in the same market.

    2) Clippers have never been able to draw

    3) I think the NBA would love to get rid of Donald Sterling!

    4) they are the Clippers, can you see it ending any other way?

give me your thought on this!

Clippers in the 2nd largest market::

      2011)  14th (With Blake – OK numbers)

      2010)  20th

      2009)  22nd

      2008)  19th

bottom 1/3 in the league for attendence, in the 2nd largest market.

it was not as bad as I had thought!

kings/clippers/twolves,Raptors…i dont think too many people out side of where those teams are from would have much of a problem if they disappeared

I don’t see the Clippers leaving now because they have 2 of the top 20 young players in the league. Does that mean wins? No, it means hope.

I would personally replace Cleveland with Charlotte

I agree with BKKnicksfan. If the NBA were to contract now, I doubt the Clippers would be one of their choices because they’re obviously the most exciting team in the NBA and have a lot of young talent. But I definitely wouldn’t argue if they were contracted. They should strongly consider relocating, because if the Kings move to Anaheim, they’re going to have 3 teams in SCal, and the Clippers are already second fiddle to the Lakers. And they’ll never win with Sterling as their owner. I can see most of their young talent bolting as soon after their rookie contracts expire.

I think that the other team would be either Memphis (the fact they will make the play-offs will probably save them though) or Cleveland.

doesnt mean they should be dropped from the league… we gave chances to bad teams that were able to rebuild in the past we should keep doing it now…

If the NBA were to contract though, my top target would be Charlotte. They have no history, their attendance isn’t impressive, and are stuck in mediocrity. The Cavaliers probably won’t get dropped just because of their high attendance numbers.

But I agree with Leftovers16. Just because you’re a bad team, doesn’t mean you should be dropped from the league. Some of the bad teams today use to be powerhouse franchises and their stadiums used to be packed!

The Cavs if they can rebuild should be okay, I could never see a team owned by Michael Jordan being effectively withdrawn from the league although the Bobcats would be a logical choice. I’d assume they would look to lose one team from both Conferences and thus the Kings would need to succeed in Annaheim as their crowds have been very low recently and if they affected the Clippers then both teams could be in trouble.

The Pacers have had very poor attendances in recent years and have always lost money even in the JO/Reggie Miller era so could they be in danger perhaps or have to consider moving.

    1) Southern California, the LA Combined Statistical Area, has just under 18 million people. It can support three NBA teams better than some of these markets that have little more than 1 million people.

    2) $102 million in revenue and an $11 million operating income for the awful 2010 season.

    3) He has been operating a profit for just about every one of his thirty years. For some of the owners, he is a mentor.

    4) Yes. Chelsea was not a historic power in the Premier League. The Bucs were an NFL laughingstock for years. Didn’t the Rangers just make the World Series for the first time in their history last year?

The Clippers make a profil every season.  EVERY SEASON!

If you are going to cut teams because of financial troubles, you don’t cut a team that actually makes money.

Marquette fills the Bradley Center more than the Bucks do. I lived in Milwaukee for 3 years and no one ever talked about the Bucks. That is a football, baseball and college city.

Not sure Miami deserves what they got with all of their empty seats and people leaving early with 5 minutes to play.

For awhile if not still was the number one team in attracting people away from them. They are too beneficial to the NBA. They may not fill their own seats well, but they fill everyone else’s.
