Critically ThinkingParticipantneither is arron afflalo for the east backcourt. Mario Chalmers?!? Seriously, I think it’s time to get rid of the fans votes for the all-star game.

JordoParticipantpopularity will get the votes everytime. Wall has steped his game up and wizards are floating around .500 and could be well over that had so many injuries hadn’t happened. But forget Wall for a sec. I don’t get Jeff Teague not even cracking the list

rileymcshea3ParticipantIts an all star game, the NFL and MLB does it. The whole purpose of it is to get the fans more involved so they will watch the game. The only problem with the voting is Kobe, maybe Melo but at this point last year he was getting MVP consideration this year and it would be interesting seeing LeBron start at Center. Now for the rest of the guys does it really matter who is number 9 on the list? It’s not like it actually change who is in the game or not. Teague could not receive a single vote from the fans but can still get voted in by the coaches

TRC1991ParticipantThe big jokes are Steve Nash and Omer Asik garnering ANY votes…startling
Nash: 6.7 ppg on 26% shooting
Asik: 4.4 ppg as a backup center…
Also, where’s Damian Lillard??

llperezI don’t understand the complaints of fan voting. As of the fan votes, the current starting lineups would be
east: LeBron, George, Carmelo, irving, wade
west: Durant, howard, griffin, Bryant, paul
Of those 10, I don’t see anything crazy dumb. Of course Bryant is getting popularity votes, but its safe to say he will be at or close to all-star form by the time the game comes around. As for complaining about who else gets votes, who cares if they don’t make the team?
In all my years of watching the nba, I have seen lots of guys who shouldn’t be starters get voted in, but I could probably count the number of guys who flat out shouldn’t have been in the game at all but were voted in, on one hand.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThere really isn’t anything that jumps out at you. I agree with you on the fact that Kobe should be near All-Star level by the break. Hell, he already had his first 20 point game but Harden has been playing and playing at a high level and extremely efficiently albeit with little defense.
Also, I dislike Griffin in there. He’s not even a top-3 PF in the West, let alone a starter at the All-Star game. I think Aldridge or Love should get that nod.
On the East, I don’t see how Carmelo should get the nod over Roy Hibbert. Hibbert is currently the DPOQ (quarter) and the 2nd best player on the best team in the L.
I just feel as if fan voting it horrible. Too many casual and biased fans are out there to have any fair voting system for them.
Fans should get to vote in players for other events such as the dunk contest, 3pt shooting, and the skills challenge; not the All-Star game.

machu46ParticipantRefersh my memory. Fan vote only picks the starting 5 right? The rest of the team is chosen by people that actually know what they’re doing?
Of the 10 guys that would be starting so far, the one that I don’t really like is Kyrie. I love the kid, but it just seems wrong that he’ll be an All-Star starter when he’s taken a step back this year. I’d like to see Wall, Teague, or Afflalo start garnering some more attention as well. I’m a big believer in rewarding guys like Afflalo that has seemingly come out of nowhere to be almost a 20, 5, and 5 guy.

They keep saying the all star game is for the fans, so don’t see that going away anytime soon.

wildpfingParticipantI’m guessing a guy like Afflalo will be added to the East bench (if he’s still on the Magic by All-Star break which is a BIG maybe). Out West there is no doubt that Aldridge will be added as well. Too bad though, he should be in the starting lineup the way he is playing this year.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s still early, but the biggest issues I have are:
1. Carmelo Anthony doesn’t deserve to be a starter. He’s currently on a 6 win team. Roy Hibbert should be starting… He deserves it.
2. LaMarcus Aldridge is ranked 8th in forward voting. That’s just a joke. He’s been the best power forward in the NBA this year and he’s leading the best team in the Western Conference. I don’t think anybody expected that. He should be starting.
3. Jeremy Lin’s votes. Just ridiculous.

Darth DivacParticipantDeMarcus Cousins behind Chandler Parsons is bullshit. He’s “only” averaging 22/10 on 50% shooting. Name one better center besides Dwight.

Bird_YearsParticipantCheck out Cousins’ player tracking now available on NBA.com, specifically contested rebounds % and FG% he allows opponents to shoot at the rim
Allows opponents to shoort 54% at the rim compared to Hibbert and Anthony Davis in the lows 40%
http://stats.nba.com/playerTrackingDefense.html?pageNo=1&rowsPerPage=25
Only 34% of his rebounds are contested, compared to Hibbert and Davis at 46% and 47%
