ZouldiersParticipantThe fact that you cannot blow out the Magic and Hornets on Pro says a lot about how difficult this game is but playing with the Heat and the Wizards has been fun though.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI haven’t had the chance to dork out on it yet, but I’m very impressed so far.
– The soundtrack is off the hook. 2K15’s soundtrack was an abomination. This soundtrack on 2K16 is the best they’ve ever had. It’s a great mixture of music too.
– Details, details, details. They really went all out on jumpshot mechanics, arch and follow throughs. And just the way players land after they shoot lol. Some players’ shot releases have been significantly improved. They brought Stephen Curry to life. I mean, wow. His jumpshot, follow through, layups… Everything. And James Harden dribbles and does his size ups/head fakes just like him. It’s just crazy what they did. There are so many little details that they’ve perfected. Each player can do a little side step dribble before they shoot… Love the footwork. Step backs are straight up nasty and super detailed.
– Pick and Roll play… And passing. Now you can switch the angle at which your teammate sets the pick. The passing is improved. You can now throw a lob pass to teammates. It’s easier to throw alley oops too. Passing is just a lot easier on this game.
– The game (offline) feels a lot smoother and it feels like you have more control over your player than you did in 2K15.

Memphisboy14ParticipantLike the guys above said. This game is difficult. But, I’m definitely impressed so far. I don’t think that they have put this much effort into a 2K game since 2K11 (which in my opinion is probably the greatest game of the series).

tuck243ParticipantTHIS GAME IS THE BEST GAME I’VE EVER PLAYED.
Understand I couldn’t stand 2K ways prior to this year. I was literally willing to buy NBA Live because I was tired of all the cheese moves 2K would implement in order to win games. Like the shot clock shots. The ability for post men to hit EVERY fadeaway if you help out. The fact that your teammates would be USELESS on defense. The list went on…
And then I watched a few gameplay videos on YouTube. Watched all the trailers and the community talk about the game. I gave 2K one last chance and I’m glad I did.
For starters, the MyCareer story is refreshing. Spike Lee really did his thing with that story and the level of detail that went into it is crazy. From HS you’re playing against smaller and inferior players. They even have unorthodox shooting forms!! Then you move to college and it LEGIT feels like a college game and atmosphere. From there you go to the NBA and deal with real life issues as if you were a ball player. It wasn’t a cheesy story, it was very authentic. Loved it…
Offensive Gameplay –
You legit can’t play this game like previous 2K’s on next gen. You just can’t. You have to run plays, take what the defense gives you, and exploit mismatches. Centers can’t cover guards that’s able to blow pass them. You have to use pick and rolls to get extra space (like real life). Not every guard has Kyrie’s handles to break down the defense without a pick. Posting up really feels like a chess match. For example, I created a 6-11 PF (MyCareer) and I played against the Celtics. Sully was guarding me at first and I started to thrash him. I just use the spin move in the post to get around him and elevated for the slam. They switched Amir Johnson on me and that spin was not there. I couldn’t elevate over him for the hook either. I had to face up at first, see if he would bite on the head fake, and then back him down. THEN when I backed him down, I had to go up for the shot once I created space.
Defensive Gameplay –
You. Can. Block. Shots… You can legit protect the paint and not feel like it’s overpowered. Guarding Pick and Rolls is legit another chess game. As the big man I have to hedge the ball carrier and then see where my teammate is to pick him back up. Sometimes my teammate doesn’t make it through the pick in enough time and I have to switch. Or I will go out too far and the ball carrier will split it. Or I wouldn’t come out enough and he will pull up on me. Just like the NBA. Then as an off ball defender you have to watch ball and man. If you get stuck watching the ball your man will back door to the basket and collect those free points you just handed them. I was on an island against Jamal Crawford and it legit felt like one. He killed me off the dribble and made a pull up (mind you I’m a PF). Low post defense is legit and you have to really stay on your feet because if you jump too early or bite off pump fakes they will jump into you (you do the same offensively). I also felt a difference in play with/against a great on ball defender like Tony Allen vs. a terrible one like James Harden. If you’re guy is a victim in real life, he will be a victim on this game easy as that.
The coaching AI makes a world of difference and when the computer (for either team) switches match ups automatically, I could almost shed a tear.
I hope they don’t change anything on here to accommodate people that don’t know how to play just yet. Just practice and understand that this isn’t 2K from last year. You have to play real basketball in order to win or compete.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI agree with what you posted word for word. This is damn near a perfect game. It’s unbelievable just how smart this game is. This is def the best basketball I’ve ever played. Maybe the best sports game period. It’s that great… That creative and just on point with so many things.

thetrademachineryParticipantSimulation engine is completely changed. Now you can see Deandre to get 15 rpg 3 bpg in a season.
About rookies, Okafor becomes the next Duncan after a few years in myleague. He has 20ppg 13rpg 5apg 2bpg. ( his teammates sucked though ) Russell becomes something too ( interestingly his speed went up to a 89 ), and Mudiay ( although i have boosted his potential a few times.) was sensational beware of his free throw problem.
To give an impression how the simulation changed, i was champions from year 1 of a fantasy draft with Mudiay D.Green Leonard Mirotic Gobert with Burke Ilyasova Belinelli A.Len J.Ennis on the bench. That squad became champion 4 times out of 6 slightly evolving with rookies and trades( Faried, and later Towns) in and Green and Mirotic out. Lebron’s team and Durant’s team( with Russell) got the other two.

CynthiaParticipantI’m absolutely in love, I’ve already played it 33 hours on Steam. It completely took over my whole weekend.
The game is not so much "hard" as it is finally more realistic as opposed to an arcade game. I’ve been playing on Simulation settings & All-Star and those combined make for an extremely challenging game. To the point where every possession actually matters, you need to run plays, and you need to get good at pick & rolls. If you play like most do in the previous games (chucking up 3’s all day and trying to cheese the movement systems) you will get your butt handed to you. I’ve only had maybe 3/30 games where I just kicked the AI’s butt by 15+, the rest of the games have been within around 8 points and often coming down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter.
I’ve always felt like I needed to massively tweak with sliders in the previous games to make the game anywhere near realistic, but this time the simple default "simulation" setting is perfect. My only knock would be the fatigue rate is still too low, you can still play all 5 guys pretty much the entire game (I play 12 minute quarters) and they don’t get tired, so I’ve bumped fatigue rate up to 65 and that has been working great for me.
I started a MyLeague franchise, and used a simulated mock draft as I usually do. Unfortunately I was unlucky and my team overall-wise is 22nd in the league, and typically in previous versions even if I had a mediocre team and on Hall of Fame I could easily win 60+ in a season. So far I highly doubt that’s going to happen as I’m 6-9, I’m ranked 23rd in the league which is almost right on par with my 22nd rating rank. Honestly it’s kind of nice to lose for a change, when you win so easily on the hardest difficulty it can get boring quickly.
The passing has improved, you now can do a regular pass, bounce pass, and lob pass. This was hard to get used to at first, but once I did it has helped a lot in many situations. The alley-oop button combo is much easier now than before, and I’ve actually noticed most alley-oops landing regularly as long as the receiver is an above-average dunker. The pick & roll is very vital in this game, sometimes when I’m losing and my regular plays just aren’t getting the job done I start using pick & rolls a lot more and it usually gets me a few easy baskets until the AI catches on and adjusts and starts stopping them; the AI is adaptive and will start to counter your moves you do frequently, so you can’t cheese every time up the court like you used to be able to.
The shooting is awesome, there are so many more animations to shoot over or around your opponents, it’s a lot easier to get shots off, but the trickier the shot the more likely you will not make it, which is how it should be. The player speed is great too, now when you’re on a fast break if your player is faster than your opponent he will actually outrun them for an easy score, as opposed to 7 footers keeping up with point guards and blocking them like in previous versions. On my fantasy team I have Ty Lawson, which as we know in real life is one of the fastest guys on the court, and he is legit the fastest guy on the court in game, on fast breaks no one can touch him. I also like how it’s easier to run around bad defenders, it’s actually advantageous to give the ball to your guy being guarded by their worst defensive player, it’s almost always going to be your best chance to score every play. In general the players stats and percentages seem to be very accurate, no more random basketball scrubs dropping 40 on you for no reason. (I use realistic shooting percentages in the settings though)
As for the non-basketball stuff, the sound track is awesome. I’m so glad I finally have songs I want to hear, and some new ones I’ve never heard that I’m already starting to like. As everyone knows the soundtrack for 2K15 was probably the worst in any game ever (thanks pharrell!). Last year within a week I had to just shut the music off entirely, I don’t see that happening this year. They brought back a couple old favs from previous games, added some more current songs, and I love how many non-english songs they added as well, it’s pretty cool stuff.
Overall I’m just baffled at how much the game has improved after being a cut & paste the paste 2-3 years. Like I said I’ve already played 33 hours and it just came out two days ago, I haven’t nerded out on a game this much in probably a decade. I highly recommend anyone to get it, especially guys who are on the fence about it.
10/10 would oop again.
