BallerScriptParticipantWhat do all of you gamers think the 2k player ratings will look like in the upcoming version. How will this years rookies be rated? How about the 14 class? How will 2k treat aging stars like Dirk and Kobe?

XYRYXParticipantI think the rookie ratings above are pretty acurate to me.
One thing I never liked is the fact that a players potential is always what he is going to turn out. Guys like Lamb or PJ3 had pretty good potential ratings until we found out that they weren’t so good at all. Would be cool if they manage to bring in another factor aside from potential of how to maximise a player. Even the guys with injury prone ankles, knees, backs etc. reached their potential every time and this is stupid to me. Bynum for example was still a nice trade asset until 2k15 even if everyone knew he will never going to reach his potential or are not going to get any better overall.
I think the older players like Dirk, Kobe or Duncan should still have ratings around 80 but a lot of signature moves included which is basically what they have in reality even if they had a big dropoff in some areas like rebounding (Dirk) or outside shooting (Kobe).

thetrademachineryParticipantWhat 2K should put is a little randomization, like how it is done in football manager games. Some players can have standard potential, mostly rookies should have something like:
-1 : 90 – 99 range
-2 : 80 – 90 range
an example would be wiggins in the -1 range can be a 90 potential (allstar) or up to 99 ( top player)
porzingis -2 range, can be 80 – quality starter to 90 allstar.
Of course this can be varied, but each time i start a new career this can be a different number so gameplay and playability again will improve. ( this can dynamically change with some in game achievements, like if you bench them they will be closer to lower limit. If they play well they should be upper limit. Implementing the player development to another level)

King CaluchaParticipantWell 90 in NBA 2k is a lot in my opinion. Right now Wiggins and Parker are in the 88-90 potential range.
The problem is not the potential, but how they reach it. At the moment there’s 100% certainty that they will, I’d like to see some more performance-based improvements plus some randomization like in Madden games. Franchise players are too easy to find in the draft, so in 2-3 season you can usually have the best team in the league.
