knicksfan7ParticipantUnfortunately, my knicks were not one of them, oh well.
Winners (In no order)
1. The Kings. They got DeMarcus Cousins, which was the right pick, and a very good one. Then they get Hassan Whiteside in the 2nd round, which could be a potential steal. The Kings right now have the deepest front court in the nba. It may be a stretch, but if they can sign shooters in free agency we could see this team playing meaningful games in April/May.
2. The Thunder. Instead of the Thunder getting a couple of players who could be good in the future they traded for a need and took one of the safest picks in the draft in Cole Aldrich. He is a legit Center who can bang with the best of them, gives the team much needed grit. I also believe drafting Aldrich makes it more attractive for a PF to come to OKC b/c they won’t have to play out of position.
3. The Pistons. They had 2 picks and got Greg Monroe and Terrico White. Monroe is going to be at worst an average player, he won’t be a bust. He is a finesse PF who spaces the floor out well. I love the White pick, to get him to drop to them is great for the Pistons. They should look to move out Rip Hamilton to a contender because they are stacked at the SG, and need to get White some playing time. If he works hard he could be starting alongside Rodney Stuckey.
4. The Spurs. Every draft they get quality players who drop to them. James Anderson I believe can be starting for the Spurs on opening night as well as become a double digit scorer his rookie year. The guy can score from anywhere on the court and has the potential to be a good SG in the league. Ryan Richards at 49 was a great pick, they can keep him overseas while they bring Tiago Splitter (if he wishes to come) to the spurs, and then bring Richards over in a year or so.
Excited to hear everyone’s feedback.

DaleoParticipanti agree with you completely, the thunder again find to get more draft picks next year and gain some things for this year. They gained morris peterson who will help them this year. Also cole aldrich has a chance to play significant minutes this year. I don’t think he’ll start with ibaka becoming into his own at the end of last year. I also believe that the lakers are winners this year, with only two picks in the second round. I thought e’banks falling to them was really good. He was considered going in the 20’s, but then falling to 47, was perfect for them .

billykParticipantLakers got to players should get BIG playing time next year… Caracter and Ebanks give the Lakers a good infusion of depth and defensive toughness… Ebanks will get be groomed to be a lockdown defender and he gives them defensive versatility… Caracter is a banger that would be a prefect compilment with Gasol or Bynum… Bynum is injury prone and I can see Caracter picking up his minutes WHEN Bynum gets injured… Dont SLEEP on Caracter..

Real Talk Real TrophiesParticipant1. Sacramento- fill their need in the front court with cousins and whiteside. IMO Cousins will be a great player and Whiteside has potential and great pick for where they got him. Everyone says they need shooters, but they will have Cisco the Kid Garcia back from injury, Casspi can continue to improve on last year, and if D. Greene can develop a little more they have a good core. They still can use another PG/SG to play along with Evans/ fill in when he is on the bench and Beno Udrich is in.
2. Houston- Patrick Patterson could become the steal of this draft. He sized in better at the NBA measurements, can bang inside and get rebounds, and expanded his game last year proving he can step outside and consistently knock down shots. I think a lot better pick than, for ex: ed davis a pick earlier who I think is overrated.
3. Thunder- Same reasons as stated above
4. The Clippers- Clippers got a freak athlete in Aminu to play with Griffin and Kaman. Could potentially be a very scary frontcourt. Aminu still has to develop and prove he can play the 3 in the NBA but think he has the potential and worth the risk. Then making the trade to pick up Bledsoe another big risk/reward pick that I like where he can back up and learn from B.Davis. And adding Warren late in 2nd could pan out well. Team could be super fun to watch if it develops.
Clips have enough money to sign one max contract. Prb strike out on big guys so sign gay, a shooter, adn another big
PG Davis/S. Blake/Bledsoe
SG E.Gordon/Warren
SF Sign Rudy Gay/Aminu/Resign Rasual Butler
PF Griffin/ Free agent

JoeWolf1I think Toronto did pretty well from what they had to work with. They got a young power forward with a ton of upside in case Bosh takes off and they traded for some interior defense in Alabi, because lets face it Bargs isn’t much of a defender. It isn’t one of the top 5 drafts, but considering they just had a pick at #13, they got a top 8 talent and a projected mid-late first rounder, with the #13 pick and a 2nd round pick in 2011.

JNixonParticipantI think Indiana made themselves better. They swung for the fences on both of their picks (Lance Stephenson and Paul George). Both of these guys are very talented and will make the Pacers better on both ends. Stephenson was the big surprise, I’m sure nobody thought he’d go to the Pacers. I think them drafting George means they might be trying to part with Granger, that pick was a duplication pick IMO

knicksfan7Participant@JoeWolf, I guess you can look at Toronto as a winner. Picking Davis told me right away that they know they’re not getting Bosh back. Also, Alabi in round 2, is a good pick up, so yes I guess they are winners. They are not big winners though, though a win is a win, right?
@Iggy, I don’t think Paul George is ready to start, so to trade away Granger would be foolish. Though, if there rookies (George and Stephenson) work hard I would not be surprised to see a lineup with Stephenson-George-Granger-Murphy-Hibbert as a starting 5.

JoeWolf1Yeah, not going to be a major team changing draft in Toronto, but the teams without a lot of picks that find a way to address their team issues without a lot of picks always kind of intrigue me. I think the Kings and Thunder had the best drafts overall, the Kings became one of the longest teams as far as the front court goes, in the NBA, with Cousins and Whiteside added in with Dalembert and Thompson, I don’t think any of those guys have a wingspan under 7’4”

kobyzParticipantmaybe Pacers want a big back court: Stephenson/Paul George/Granger when Stephenson is a PG in Tyreke Evans mold.

knicksfan7ParticipantThe Kings are building there team the right way. They have a ball dominant player in Tyreke Evans, and the only way you win with one is with a superior front line. If Whiteside and Cousins both pan out other teams beware. They just need to pick up some shooters, and I think they can make the playoffs either in the 2010-11 or 2011-12 season.
