Tell you what I did…something I sometimes do when watching boxing…to give a clear unbiased perspective of what is going on….I watched this entire game 6 with the volume on MUTE.

I wish yall would stop hating on Lebron and the Heat…but that wont happen.  People will have to have something to talk about.  Here is what I observed.

    On the Mavs side:

    1) It was just the Mavs time, they beat a Lakers team who is notorious for late season and post season momentum.

    2) The Mavs shot the ball about as well as you can expect…they would be difficult for any team to beat…in history…shooting like they did.  Dirk, Terry, Kidd, Barea, Stevenson…it was just incredible.

    3) This is a different Mavs team from years past…the biggest reason this year is TYSON CHANDLER.  He really brought a different element to the team.

    4) Shawn Marion is a player with a lot left and on the right team….he can be a vital piece to a championship.  Energy, rebounding, defense, just a heck of player.

    5) I know this is blasphemous to some of you and I wont say that Dirk is better than Bird, he is NOT.  I am only speaking offensively.  He is as unguardable offensively as any player, and I believe much more unstoppable than Bird, although Bird is clearly a better all around player.

    6) Jason Terry.  He stepped up, what more can you say.  Give it up for him.

    7) Rick Carlisle.  Excellent coaching job.

    On the Heat side:

    1) I said recently that Lebron is very passive offensively since joining the Heat…I sorta take that back.  The offense is just not designed the same way.  Lebron is a passing fool.  He was passing the ball like crazy tonight.  He is unselfish to a fault but a lot of it has something to do with the offense of the Heat.

    2) The Heat overpassed.  Once again, its the offense…and its not all Spoelstra’s fault.  He doesnt have the necessary players to design the proper offense to beat an offensive team such as the Mavs.  All I could think of while watching this game with the sound off….was they need a Ray Allen…or someone probably more realistic this offseason…Rip Hamilton.

    3) The Heat’s defense looked suspect…I dont really remember Kidd, Terry, and Dirk being in a whole lot at the same time.  Mostly they only had 2 really good perimeter threats in at once.  I mean the philosophy shouldve been deny, deny, deny.   If Cardinal and Barea beat you then so be it, but Kidd, Terry, and Dirk….they still got too many good looks.

    4) Mario Chalmers is a good player but his role or the next point guard that comes in needs to have a more expanded role and needs to be counted on more.  I think Chalmers has the ability to do it but because of the Big 3, maybe not the opportunity.  Kinda like when the Celtics put their faith in Rondo.

    5) Back to the Rip Hamilton thing, no real off ball shooters except for House…and he is a defensive liability.  Miller and Jones are good, but they are not Rip Hamilton by any means.

    6) Heat didnt rebound when it counted.  Not supposed to let all those rebounds go, especially with some of the lineups the Mavs had in there.

    7) Like Lebron is taking most of the heat (pardon the pun) Spoelstra will get a lot as well and I really think he did a good job for the team he had.  A talented team but still missing a lot of exposable elements.

All in all, I think the Heat will win some championships and they are not without accomplishments.  They did beat a tough Boston team, and the best regular season team in the Bulls…and the Bulls were legit, make no mistake about that.  That was not a fluke season.

Congrats to the Mavs…cant wait til the draft!

What do the Heat want? They have LeBron, Wade and Bosh. People can keep arguing the Heat need more, but this is what they chose, the team they have is the team they choose to have. Sure the Heat could have Rip and a host of other good players who could play great as role players, but you’d have a near perfect team – you’re arguing to take the hard work out of it. Sometimes you have to add through subtraction.

Hmm. I like that idea watching the game on mute. I’ve have always never really liked the commentator’s comments. Sometimes they annoy me, other times I choose to ignore and focus on the game. I’ll have to try that sometime. Thanks

Anyways, I completely agree. Definitely it was the Mavs time, I knew it the moment they swept the Lakers. Glad Dirk, Kidd, Terry, Peja all finally got their first and porbably only trophy. At least they got there compared to the plenty of other great players who never could make it there.

Tyson Chandler definitely did make this team different from the Mavs of the past. Before they would rely on Dirk and the defense was very suspect. Now they still rely on Dirk but Chandler’s defense aproach had an effect on the whole team. I think that was part of the reason why none of no longer think of Dirk as soft, nor even the Mavs as a team.

Wardb, I have watched many of the Mavs’ games on mute this year when the Mark Jackson, JVG, and Breen trio was commentating.  Quite an annoying group sometimes.

I hated the fact that at the end of the fourth quater (about 2 minutes left) the arena was almost empty, most of the so-called Heat fans had left. That was quite a disgusting sight

Lebron, Wade, and Bosh are not enough.   Anyone who thought it was, doesnt know anything about sports…myself included.  Thats like saying the Lakers had Magic, Kareem, and Worthy, and just throw in who else ever…NO.  They needed Byron Scott, AC Green, Kurt Rambis, Michael Cooper.

You say this is what they chose, they did, but I dont think they thought a title the 1st year was a given.  What you are implying is that they chose this team as-is and needed nothing else.

Adding through subtraction?  What the heck do u think they did in the offseason, they cleared the whole freakin roster!

Not sure what you mean by take the hard work out of it…things are much different today then they were even when Jordan was playing.  Not too long ago, there was a time where some players were nearly untradable.  You actually were not considered a franchise player if you moved from one team to another.  Free agency is different and much more lucrative.  There is nothing "easy" about building a contender in the league now.

Take a guy like Wesley Matthews…undrafted and working off a minimum salary his first year.  I am sure he would like to win a championship and the thought of joining the Heat has probably crossed his mind….but he outplayed his rookie contract and although winning may be important to him, he has to go with the team that is cabable of paying him the most because at this stage of his career, getting the most he can get trumps anything else.

My point is, there are no such things as "As-Builts" in sports.  You have to improve by modification, be it addition or subtraction.

You’re acting like what I said was my sole opinion, apparantly you never paid attention to "The Decision" drama this summer. The Heat built that team as the team to build a "dynasty", LeBrons words, not mine. They built a team with 3 superstars, in terms of money, and availability of superstars, what else do you want?! The argument you made applies to the normal hard route of winning a championship, teams that build around an allstar/superstar and find great role players. Your Wes Mathews argument is confusing, I have no idea what you’re talking about and I am a Jazz fan – what does a reference to him have anything to do with what you’re talking about? Comparing what I said and trying to apply it to the Lakers does not fit, Kareem/Worthy/Magic did not build their team, they were once a team that lost, obtained draft picks, and of course made trades to get the right peices. (i.e the trade from Utah to LA to get the 79 1st selection, which LA used on Magic)

Your argument is in hindsight only. The Lakers developed together, and never proclaimed anything other than they’d work hard. The Heat have 3 guys in their primes (historically and statistically all 3 are at the best they’ll ever be), and proclaimed a dynasty.

Wade ,LeBron and Bosh are obviously enough with there amazing defense because they made it to the finals and had a great close series .So you cant say whoever thought that was enough doesnt know anything about sports you are obviously wrong because they made it to the finals and thats makes them the 2nd best team in the NBA of that year so shut up and stop trying to be the smart guy here.

^^^ok, your literacy is obviously up for question, as is your maturity.  we are talking about 3 players, thats what you said and thats what I reiterated….those 3 players didnt get to the finals alone and they wont win it alone.  name 3 players that won anything by themselves….I’ll be waiting for a logical answer.  if all they needed were 3 players and any joe schmo perhaps you should ask them for a contract.  you need at least 5 people to be able to compete and a few players on the bench would be nice.  if thats trying to be the smart guy, then what the freak are you???
