Sharp ShooterParticipantJust when you think the pistons take two steps forward, they take two steps back. Greg Monroe irks me because of his inconsistency. At this point it doesn’t matter, but lets just hope next season is Greg comes into his own and becomes more consistent (he should be an all star) and hopefully we get an atheltic forward to play next to him (Josh Smith? McGee? Aldridge?) Favors? and get rid of the dead weight (Villanueva, Gordon, Daye because they don’t fit the pistons style of play) resign Wilkins. Brandon knight should come into his own by next season he just need to cut down on TO and become a better passer in traffic and hit it weight room. Stuckey is better off the bench. Maxiell is not a starter but def. plays well with monroe…. and finally draft another go to big (drummond?Sullinger ) or sf (lamb? Barnes?) we should be fine considering the only competition in the east is really Heat, Chicago the rest is just a toss up (yes boston is a toss up, now)

TruettParticipant..Villanueva and Daye tonight? I dont think any of the true starters got over 30 min. That’s what a tanking team does… the GM probably saw the box score of the last game and was like "woah guys, there is a lottery remember?!"
I like the pistons moving forward… They have a shot at the playoffs next year, but truthfully they are prob two years away. Monroe needs to keep working on his conditioning and expanding his game, but all signs show him being able to do that. Knight has improved a lot over the year, so that looks great for them too. Their biggest problem is that they can only amnesty one of Villanueva or Gordon and they would prob be better doing both… I think Gordon is still good enough that he can keep playing in the league, so I would amnesty Villanueva. Maybe you will get a dec draft pic and start winning, then teams will start to think gordon has value again and you can dump him for something.

r377ParticipantWe have to tank as much as possible. A few wins/losses here and there can have us picking 6th or 11th…

frogmanParticipantThe worst offseason in the history of sports was when Dumars signed Gordon and Villanueva to what was it like 5 year contracts. Every single person out there except Dumars knew it would be a miserable failure and we were all right. Don’t worry about tanking, playing their hardest will continue to reap the benefit of high lottery picks and they should have a decent team in a couple of years when those horrible contracts come off the books.

PulseGlazerParticipantThe Gordon and Villanueva contracts are absurdly bad, but Knight and Stuckey with Monroe is a really solid core. Picking earlier would be huge for these guys. Knight was considered a top 4 talent, is extremely raw, and works really hard. I still think he can be an excellent combo guard. We all know about Monroe at this point, and Stuckey is the single most under-rated player in the league. He gets to the rim and the line like a beast and Detroit really isn’t bad when he plays over 30-minutes.

Meditated StatesParticipantThey need a PG. Does anyone think they can get to the playoffs and succeed with Knight and Stuckey back there? Both players are good but combo guards. They need a shot blocking rebounder. They could use Drummond in the worst way.

JoeWolf1They really wanted Tristian Thompson or Bismack last year, but Knight fell in their lap and was too talented to pass up. I think they’ll go after a blue collar forward or center this year.

The QParticipantThe nice thing about Monroe is he gives them the flexibility to take either a C like Drummond or a PF like Moultrie.
IMO that should be the pick. If both are somehow gone by their pick I would think they take a guy like Jeremy Lamb. The Pistons are a team that has historically valued length, so I don’t see them taking a guy like Sullinger. Nor would the likely take a soft guy like PJIII.

r377ParticipantI have said it numerous time before but ill say it again. When they signed charlie v and ben gordon, both Gortat and Big Baby were FA also. I would have taken those 2 guys. But to go back even further to muck up the team. They traded a loved player in Mr Big Shot Billups and ended up with a ball-hog egotistic "me first" PG in Iverson…
