Stojakovicfor3ParticipantBefore you look at this, Larry Sanders has a guaranteed spot with the Bucks, Daniel Orton has a guaranteed spot with the Thunder, Avery Bradley has a guaranteed spot with the Raptors, Elliot Williams has a guaranteed spot with the Spurs, John Wall has a guaranteed spot with the Wizards, Evan Turner has a guaranteed spot with the Sixers, Derrick Favors has a guaranteed spot with the Nets, Wes Johnson has a guaranteed spot with the Wolves, Greg Monroe has a guaranteed spot with the Kings, DeMarcus Cousins has a guaranteed spot with the Warriors, Ed Davis has a guaranteed spot with the Jazz, Luke Babbitt has a guaranteed spot with the Clippers if Aminu is gone, and Trevor Booker has a guaranteed spot with the Wizards so don’t criticize me on those picks cuz I’m not crazy

kaceyParticipantLarry Sanders doesn’t quite have a guarantee. He, just like everyone else, decided to cancel his workout with the Grizz. His guarantee is just speculation. As is the Orton guarantee that I posted a thread about. Orton may have a guarantee, but it is just as likely from the Heat as it is the Thunder.
Elliot Williams’ guarantee is still unclear. We all know he suffered the injury, but it has been reported as not serious, although more recent reports have claimed he may need minor surgery. Anyways he was suppose to be a part of a recent Hawks’ workout with Dominique Jones and Terrico White. However, based on the lack of content from the Hawks website and other articles, it seems as though Elliot Williams did not attend. The Hawks have interviews with Jones and White posted, and you think Elliot Williams would have one as well if he attended.
As of right now the only guarantee is John Wall going first overall.

wesleymatthews23ParticipantThe jazz don’t have a guarantee with Ed Davis.Yeah they had a live mock draft on their site and ended up selecting him, but that doesn’t mean anything. They had a great workout with Luke Babbitt and I expect him to be their pick unless he is not available. Where do you get all of these guarantees anyway. I am sure all of us would like to know. The only guarantees, I know about are the obvious ones. Wall to Wizards, Turner to Sixers, Favors to Nets, Johnson to Wolves and Monroe to Kings.
Also I believe that everyone needs to be made aware of why a player might cancel a workout. It is not just because he has a promise from another team. He may have gotten sick the day of the work out or had a personal reason. (like family, or birthday)0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/17/2010 - 9:18am #334065

Stojakovicfor3ParticipantHoopsworld Says, “Kentucky big man Daniel Orton has cancelled all remaining workouts, with Draft Express’ Jonathan Givony Tweeting that he may have a promise from Oklahoma City GM Sam Presti. The Thunder own picks 21, 26 and 32 in next week’s draft.
If Ed Davis, power forward from North Carolina, is on the board at number nine, it appears he will be the latest addition to the Utah Jazz. It seems likely Carlos Boozer will be out, meaning Paul Millsap starts at the four, and the Jazz are looking for the next front court player to groom behind Millsap.
The Los Angeles Clippers are shopping for a small forward on draft day, and while Al-Farouq Aminu is believed to be their top choice, if he’s gone at pick eight the Clips are leaning towards either Xavier Henry or Patrick Patterson.
Wes Johnson: It seems the Minnesota Timberwolves have settled in on Syracuse forward Wesley Johnson as their pick at #4. If something crazy happens in the first three picks and Evan Turner tumbles, the Wolves would change their stance, but as things stand today you can lock Wes Johnson in at #4, even if players like Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins are on the board.
The Wolves have been talking to several teams about dealing some of their lower first-round picks. The Wolves hold the 16th and the 23rd selections and could have a draft day deal or two involving one or both.
Sources close to the situation say most of the interest in those picks comes from teams with an eye on a certain player and if those players are there when Minnesota picks a deal would go down.
It is possible the Wolves trigger a deal before the draft, but insiders close to the team said it’s far more likely that anything involving those picks happens during the draft.
DeMarcus Cousins: Well, it seems DeMarcus Cousins has found his floor. That would be #6 to the Golden State Warriors.
Sources close to the situation say they have narrowed their board down to three possible candidates and Cousins, Greg Monroe and Al-Farouq Aminu are their players.
If the draft goes as scripted, the Kings at #5 will hold a lot of power.
DeMarcus Cousins had a strong individual workout with Sacramento; however sources near that situation say the team is still trying to come to grips with Cousins’ maturity and off-the-court concerns.
The Kings have brought back Hassan Whiteside and Greg Monroe for a second look, as it’s believed the Kings are not nearly as in love with the #5 pick.
The Kings have been linked to the Detroit Pistons, who would like to move up to #5 to grab Cousins for themselves and with Golden State poised to grab him at #6, things could get interesting for the Kings.
If the Kings trigger a deal with Detroit, the Pistons would take Cousins, leaving the Warriors with Greg Monroe, leaving the Kings with the #7 pick which would likely be Whiteside or Patrick Patterson, according to sources.
Keep an eye on the #5 pick, because things could get interesting if Sacramento decides to move down.
Larry Sanders: VCU’s Larry Sanders was the latest prospect to cancel a workout with the Memphis Grizzlies after what some have labeled an “impressive” showing for the Milwaukee Bucks.
Bucks’ head coach Scott Skiles took Sanders to dinner after the workout and really had nothing but positive things to say about him.
Word is Sanders has started shutting down workouts, leading many to believe Sanders got a commitment from the Bucks at #15.
Sources close to Sanders deny that a hard promise was made, but they are feeling good he goes no lower than #15 to the Bucks.
Sanders is believed to be on the Raptors’ radar at #13 and the Hornets at #11.
Avery Bradley: Avery Bradley’s ankle is said to be progressing nicely and he is still a strong candidate for the Raptors at #13. The real question is will he be there?
The Indiana Pacers are said to have Bradley as the top name on their board at #10, and if the Pacers keep the pick – which is still up in the air – it looks like Bradley could be a Pacer next week.
If the Pacers trade the pick, it’s likely Bradley tumbles to #13 and Toronto will scoop him up.
The Raptors have brought Bradley in for a second sit-down visit and seem to have him high on their list.
Sources close to the situation say the Raptors have Bradley, Larry Sanders and Solomon Alabi as possibles with the #13.”

0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/17/2010 - 9:47am #334101
kaceyParticipantJust because Hoopsworld reports it doesn’t mean it is a guarantee. It seems to me they just gather tidbits from other articles (similar to Hoopshype). You are saying Sanders has a guarantee at 15, even though your source claims the Hornets and Raptors are interested as well. Same applies for Avery Bradley, we all know the Raptors are very interested in him, but your source is saying the Pacers could take him.
I’m not saying having those guys at those spots is wrong, all of those are very likely, all I am saying is how can you claim these guys have guarantees from a specific team when your own source claims they could be going to two or three different places.
Again, the only guarantee as of right now is the Wizards selecting John Wall.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/17/2010 - 9:52am #334107
kaceyParticipantAnd what is with the “i hate you guys” attitude? No one is trying to bash you, plenty of the people on this forum go to those same exact websites.
One more thing, Monroe does not have a guarantee from the Kings at 5. If this pick goes to the Pistons then more than likely the fifth pick will be Cousins.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/17/2010 - 9:53am #334109
Stojakovicfor3Participantjust because they’re interested doesn’t mean that he is one of their favorite players. The Hornets neeed and will probably go with a small forward the Raptors could go with him and I’m saying the Raps have a guarantee on Sanders IF he is still available it doesn’t mean there is no chance in hell that sanders goes somewhere else.

0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/17/2010 - 9:56am #334112

dmo21ParticipantI don’t think you can just go by guarantees, because if a guy falls, teams wont stick to their guarantee if a better player is there to pick. Things will change. Teams give guarantees just to make it look like they are taking that guy and to have a backup plan if better players dont fall. Like with larry sanders to the bucks, do you think they would still take him if patterson or davis falls?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/17/2010 - 9:59am #334114
Stojakovicfor3ParticipantI never said they are in love with Sanders and if they had the first pick, they would choose him. Im saying it’s likely the good power forwards will be gone by then and the bucks will probably take him. If Patterson falls they might take him but its not likely he falls

kaceyParticipantI don’t think my age matters. I’ve been a huge fan of NBA drafts for 12 years.
I understand what you are saying, but you were making it sound like these guys were absolute locks to go where you said. But it seems as though we are both on the same page now and understand what the other is saying.
I remember hearing Karl Malone mention the Mavericks promised to take him in the 1985 draft, but instead they drafted Detlef Schrempf, so like dmo said, things can change pretty quick.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/17/2010 - 10:12am #334142

wesleymatthews23ParticipantI never said you were a NBA analyst. I just don’t appreciate being treated like an idiot after all I did was ask for a source. And nor does anyone else. Besides, I looked all over your two so called sources and did not find a thing about the Jazz liking Davis. All I have heard about the Jazz and their pick is that both the Clips and the Jazz themselves like Babbitt. So once I am disregarding all of your promises that you believe have happened. Get a grip, man.

0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/17/2010 - 10:32am #334164

wesleymatthews23ParticipantIt happened like a month ago. And it was not a very good mock. If I remember correctly this was the top five
1 Wzards John Wall
2 Sixers Derrick Favors (why would they pick Favors with Speights and Brand both on their roster? Turner is the clear choice here)
3 Nets Evan Turner
4 Wolves Wesley Johnson
5 Kings Demarcus Cousins.I even remember them having Bradley going to the Pacers but that won’t happen because Bradley does not deserve a lottery pick, not in my opinion. I asked in a post here and I got basically replies of “I agree with you 100%”
A lot of their picks were according to team need but as you and I both know this is just stupid because not every team picks according to their specific need. The mock draft was the entire first round and it was a horrible mock draft. I completely disregard it and just put what I think and happen to hear. I just found it interesting that you claim there is a guarantee for Ed Davis from the Jazz and that is exactly who they picked like a month ago. So either the Jazz had their pick planned out along time ago or it was just sheer coincidence that this happened.0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/17/2010 - 10:34am #334168
