GlenTaylorSucksParticipantI’ll start with a resounding HELL NO to GSW. Klay does not look nearly as good given what other teams have available. I’d even take a Chicago deal that centered around Mrotic/Dougie Buckets/Butler. But Boston is looking more and more like a great trade partner.
Boston just took Marcus Smart. Which means either he or Rondo will be traded soon; they can’t co-exist in the same backcourt. I would love for Minny to pry him away from Boston in exchange for Love in a deal that would look a little something like this:
Minnesota gives/Boston gets: Love, Martin, one of Brewer or Barea
Minnesota gets/Boston gives: Smart, Young, Sully/Olynyk, Bogans and/or Bass, one or two of the NJ picks upcoming (or rights to swap picks)
Obviously the pieces could change, but the basis of it would be Love for their 2 picks this year and one or two NJ picks, and salary filler from each team to make it work.
Boston will have Love and Rondo, and some cap room and assets to maneuver another deal with a third star or very good role player. Since the Wolves will suck hardcore, they’ll get to experiment with Smart and Rubio together, with LaVine (don’t even get me started on him, lmao) spelling them (if they don’t send him straight to the D League). I personally think Smart is going to be one of the best players from this draft class- I’d argue he has either the highest or second highest floor (he and Parker are neck and neck).
What do y’all think? Would Love for Smart/other pieces be a good deal?

festar35ParticipantI think Boston are done toying with the idea of Love. If Minnesota wanted to trade with Boston it had to happen before the draft or on the night.
Boston is in a good spot in terms of rebuild with Smart and Young coming on board and expect them to fully invest in a 2-3 year rebuild.

UnbiasedObserverParticipantI still think Boston is a great trade partner for the Wolves. If Love isn’t traded there then the Celtics have a legit shot of signing him when he opts out of his deal

TimberTrollParticipantConsidering that Smart and Young are the two players that the Wolves would’ve most likely taken with those picks I have to think that there still is a real chance that a trade could happen. I feel like it should have happened by now though.

Flameres15ParticipantThe Celtics are done trying to play games with the Wolves. The Celtics drafted their point guard of the future in Marcus Smart, and their combo wing player in James Young with a solid role player in Jared Sullinger. They should look to use Rondo as a mentor until the trade deadline and explore trades, only for a value. Same goes for Jeff Green. I think Green can boost his stock by playing with Rondo. If the Celtics trade anyone on their team, it will be for a center.
