That would be a nice haul of players for the Celtics with guys who could come in right away and contribute.  The first round selections could happen if a few things went your way, although Valentine and Poetl likely don’t last until 16 and 23 respectively. Maybe pick up Valentine at 16 and Hammons or Damian Jones at #23 would be more likely.

The second round, I don’t see Barber dropping that low but everything else looks good.

There is no way Diamond Stone falls out of the first round. too much size, talent, and youth to fall that far. Poetl won’t fall past the bucks at #10. I think valentine would be perfect for any team, especially the Celtics where he can provide he skill of running the offense off the bench as like a second Evan Turner. Cat barber would be a steal in the 2nd round, and I think hes gonna fall to the second. He reminds me of ish smith, which is really a compliment after seeing how he improved the 76ers. The quickness, fearlessness, and vision of the two are very similar. I’m a big fan of ben bentil. His measurements are incredibly important for where he will get drafted. If hes 6’10, he’ll probably be a late first rounder.

The Celtics really need a big man and I could see them taking one at 16, but poetl wont be there. They could target Diamond Stone there, or get an older player like Hammond, Damian Jones, or get Stephen Zimmerman later with their pick at 23.

I think best senerio will be the Celtics getting either the 1 or 2, taking Simmons or Ingram, and then drafting all the talent they can get their hands on. The Celtics have been stockpiling talent like the rockets did to get james harden. They should continue to do that and then offer that talent to teams like the kings (Boogie Cousins), pacers (Paul George), thunder (I think both stars will be on the table if its obvious they wont resign), and even the clippers (they need to reevaluate their team, paul and griffin might be on the trading block come next year)

There is no way The Celtics land the Top Pick this year, not #2 either…

I don’t care how many of you Boston homers come out the wood work to neg me, I have to point this out…

If the Celtics jump into the Top 3 along with the Lakers winning the #1 Pick, everyone outside those team’s fan bases should revolt, maybe I’m overeating but that seems like some straight up RIGGING/COLLUSION on the NBA’s part

Than the Celtics trying to trade scraps for a Superstar should sound ludicrous, but no one says a thing when it comes out the mouth of a Celtics fan

Lets come back to this post if the Celtics win a Top 3 Pick and trade their role players and middle of the pack draft picks for Cousins, Griffin or George…

Bro. I’m not a Celtics fan, but what you are saying is nonsense.

The Celtics have the third best chance at winning the lottery at 15.6% to win the lottery. It wouldn’t be some crazy rigged conspiracy if they won. Don’t get mad at the Celtics that the Nets gave up their entire future.

The Celtics pretty much have an unlimited bounty of high lottery picks and other first and second rounders in great quantities and very solid young players with upside.

Anybody who they trade for a superstar they would be losing great draft picks or very good young players, but the Celtics have set themselves up so well that they can build their team this way. Just marvel at how brilliantly Danny Ainge has navigated this rebuild.

You do realize the Celtics have the 3rd best lottery odds so getting the #1 pick isn’t really that far fetched.  So how is it you can say "There is no way the Celtics land the top pick this year, not #2 either".  I’m not expecting it to happen as they are most likely to get the 4th or 5th pick.  Also how could other fanbases call the lottery rigged if the Lakers(2nd best odds) and Celtics(3rd best odds) end up at 1 and 3 respectively?  This isn’t a situation where they are late lotto needing to jump into the Top 3.

Is Thon Maker in this draft or not?

    Where is this guy?

Poetl and Valentine don’t offer tons of upside in my book.

Valentine and Simmons are both basically point forwards.  Then Marcus Smart is a point power forward in a combo guard’s body.

Maybe they should go with Skal at 16 if he is there.

You can pair him with Ben Simmons at either the 3-4 or the 4-5 spots.  Skal has a jumper, or he supposedly does, so that gives you better spacing.  Then Skal can block shots.

Second round, I would go with Danuel House.  He is a scorer at the 2.  Is he a pure shooter?  If not, then still look for an option at shooting guard.

    Ok…

Now, what if Boston picks at 1, then Philly picks at 2 and 4 (Lakers pick).

Do you TRADE the top pick for 2 AND 4 plus like Larry Nance, Jr., Tarik Black, the 32nd pick, and cash?

Then I think you trade the pick, draft Brandon Ingram at 2, Buddy Hield at 4, then you also have a couple of young rotation bigs from the Lakers.

THEN you can pick Skal at 16 and Diamond Stone at 23 as backup bigs.

Start: Marcus Smart, Buddy Hield, Brandon Ingram, Kelly Olynyk, and Jared Sullinger.

Bench mob: Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, Skal Labissiere, and Diamond Stone.

    11th man: Cody Zeller.

12th man: I am going with a free agent MLE 3 and D wing player.

    13th man: Do-everything 6’4 power 2 guard Thomas Walkup.

That would be one amazing scenario. C’s trade 1 for 2nd pick and Okafor would be better!!! Throw in picks or whatever players they want nust not Smart or Crowder. One can dream at least.

     ^^^

    Oops.

The PLAYERS that the Celtics would get back in a trade would be from Philly, not the Lakers.

Then I would try to get some of their fringey guys like Nik Stauskas and Richaun Holmes.  Holmes would give the C’s depth inside.  Stauskas gives them another guy who can shoot.

Then that additional pick would be a future second rounder, OR send something like 31, 35, and 58 to Philly for 26.

    That would give the Celtics picks at 2, 4, 16, 23, 26, 45, and 51.

I think Jamal Murray would be perfect for Boston. With Marcus Smart’s well-documented struggles as a perimeter shooter, Murray would fit in nicely as an effortless scorer with range, who can also handle the ball.

Smart and Murray are very much opposites of one another, which means their skill sets would complement each other well. Especially if you get the No. 3 pick and Simmons and Ingram are gone. Murray is instant offense; he’s already very refined on that end, and he’d have enough good defenders around him to cover his learning curve. Boston needs some pure offensive explosiveness and Murray can deliver it.

I have Murray at 3 too. Everyone wants the C’s to trade if it lands at 3. I don’t see the point to mortgage the team to get a star and not have the same team around him. I would not mind watching Murray develop with a solid team.

Eh.  Still kinda like Buddy Hield in Celtic green more.  He can score and flat out SHOOT.  He has the mentality of a go-to scorer.  Looks fairly solid athletically and rebounds pretty well for a 2 guard.

    Put him with Marcus Smart.

Or, go Full Video Game Scoring Mode with IT.

Avery Bradley completes a very versatile, talented, and young (IF somewhat undersized) four guard rotation.

So, Hield would be a nice consolation prize.

I would also try to turn a top pick into Hield and Brandon Ingram.

Do that and your perimeter rotation is SET.  IT, Smart, Hield, Ingram, Jae Crowder, and Avery Bradley.

Then at 16 there will still be some bigs out there.

I would actually swing for the fences with that move.  If Thon Maker is there, I would take him.  Next, look at that group of Skal, Stone, and Stephen Zimmerman.
