If you are new to my post, I’m going through the draft and making selections by who I would draft if I was in charge for the teams, not what I think what will happen.

    Recap

    1.Cle- D.Williams

    2.Min- Trade/E.Kanter

    3.Utah- B.Knight

    4.Cle- K.Irving

    5.Tor- K.Walker

    6. Wsh- Jan Vesely: SF/PF Czech Rep.

Vesesly has great size and length for a guy who could play the 3 possibly, and has ability to post up against smaller defenders. He is a solid shooter, runs the floor well, and defend pretty well. Washington is pretty set at both PG and SG with Wall, Young (if he re-signs) and Crawford. McGee has shown he is a very good young center, leaving both forward spots in question, which Vesely can both play. Vesely is still young and will need a year or so to adjust to the NBA, but that is fine since Washington isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, so he should have time to develop. Dirk has just shown that Euro players can lead teams to a championship. It should help he has a dynamic playmaker in John Wall to help him get some good looks.

    7. Sac- Jimmer Fredette: PG BYU

Everyone in the nation knows about Jimmer, and his ability to shoot from anywhere. Jimmer is not only a great shooter, but a great scorer, Jimmer can drive hit the tough shots in the lane or pull-up in anyones face. While Jimmer isn’t a pure PG, his bball IQ is good enough to where he can learn to play PG and be a playmaker and a scorer. Jimmer would be a good fit next to Evans in the backcourt, Evans is a poor shooter, but can play some point also and allow Jimmer to focus more on scoring. Jimmer showed he is actually a good athlete at the combine, and if he put his mind to it he could be an adequate defender. Jimmer is also a high character type of guy, unlike Cousins and Evans who have had their issues, Jimmer would also be a fan favorite in Sacramento or where ever they move to.

    8. Det- Tristan Thompson: PF Texas

Detroit doesn’t have a player they could build their franchise around, so they need to get a player with the most talent to develop into an all-star caliber type of player. Thompson is a good athlete, can score with both hands, and is developing into a better post scorer. He has good length which could make him a good defensive player. Thompson is still very young, and won’t make a true impact until few years down the road. Thompson paired next to Monroe will create a very skilled offensive duo in the post for Detroit.

    9. Cha- Jordan Hamilton: SF/SG Texas

Charlotte is one of the worst offensive teams in the NBA, so it makes since they need a scorer, enter Hamilton. Jordan Hamilton might be the second best scorer in the draft. He can post smaller players, play without the ball, spot up, and score of the dribble. Hamilton is a good passer and rebounder, has good speed and is a good finisher. Hamilton could step in right away for Charlotte and be there top scorer next to Jackson (if he is around next year) immediately.

    10. Mil- Alec Burks: SG Colorado

Amazingly, Milwaukee is a worse offensive team than Charlotte, according to stats. So again this team needs a guy who can score, which Burks can do as he scored 20.5 in college. Burks is great a getting to the rim and finishing. He is also a good ball handler and playmaker and should help other players score also. Burks is a good rebounder for a guard and with his great wingspan and athleticism he can be a good defender. Burks is not a great shooter, and needs to improve to become a great player, but he certainly can improve. Milwaukee is in need of a SG with Redd’s career basically finished, and Salmons, Maggette, and Delfino are not the answers. Burks can be a starter from day one and help lead Milwaukee back to the playoffs.

ok thats 6-10, I’ll be back tommorow for 11-15.

No way Knight goes over Irving tho it is not out of the question for Irving to drop to the 3rd pick.

I was hoping you would comment on 6-10, I also know there is no way Knight goes before Irving, but I would draft Knight before Irving.

Hmmmm, I guess I can settle for Tristan Thompson at #8, although I still think he’s a bit undersized. I would probably rather go with Valanciunas or Biyombo.

Biyombo is only 6’9 also, and Tristan is a way better scorer, and not as risky.

I like the Fredette and Burks picks, but I think 9 is a little high for Hamilton

Actually, you may have a point there(speaking as a Piston fan, if theres one thing I would NOT  want, it’s a risky pick). I agree Thompson is a little more of a sure thing.

If you know that Knight won’t go over Irving then why don’t you change it? Isn’t the point of a mock to try and guess what the team picking might do?

This isn’t a mock draft, I’m not suggesting Knight goes before Irving. This is just how I would draft if I was the GM for each team. As far as Leonard and Hamilton goes you might be right, Washington could very well take Leonard at #6, and a team like Detroit  or Sacramento might take him. But if both are still on the board for the bobacats or bucks I would say those two teams would take Hamilton over Leonard as they both need scoring, which without a doubt Hamilton is better at, while Leonard is a much better athlete and defender. So your suggestion that no way Hamilton goes before Hamilton is wrong, as Leonard could fall into the late lottery where a team like Mil or Cha would have more of a need for Hamilton, so it’s possible Hamilton goes before. Am I saying he will, not sure, but it’s possible. Unlike Knight before Irving

i think as far as the Pistons pick, it will be between Tristan Thompson and Jonas Valanciunas, two intriguer bigs that fit with what the Pistons need and looking for, you could make the case for both.

Knight simply will not go over Irving.  Won’t happen.

Hamilton will not go before Leonard. Won’t happen.  Leonard just destroyed Hamilton in last week’s workout w/the Wizards. Leonard will definitely be top-10. Hamilton may be, but it will definitely be after Leo.
