BlazermannParticipantMy what if moment is about the Seattle supersonics and Scotty Pippen. Scotty Pippen the 5th pick of 1987 and what if they would of kept him from that draft instead of shipping him to Chicago for Olden Polynice 8th pick of the same draft; then drafted Shawn Kemp with in the following next two years in 1989 draft with 17th overall pick and drafted Gary Payton with 2nd overall pick of 1990 and formed and defensive trio that would potentially change the face of 90’s basketball! Hmmm?
Could you imagine how the west would of looked? And how Batman would of been with out his Robin? And how no wing player in the league would ever expect to have a great game against this trio? And that includes Micheal Jordan himself! the best player to lock up Jordan up was his teammate and his sidekick .. what do u guys think would of happened ? and what would be looked at differently today cause of this? would the have been a dynasty ? who would have less rings? stockton and malone never reach nba finals to get their dreams crush by jordan?
lol what do u guys think? i was bored tired of these 1972 nba games on nbatv.. show sum tmac penny and allen iverson.. young kobe shaq going basedgod all over timmy duncan in the post

ShekiruBoomParticipantSometimes I wonder what would have happened if
1. Magic Johnson were born 24 years later and entered the NBA in 2003 as a undrafted rookie
2. Michale Jordan were born 19 years later and entereed the NBA in 2003 as another undrafted rookie
3. Kevin Garnett were born 8 years later and entered the NBA in 2003 as another undrafted rookie
4. Shaq were born 11 years later and entered the NBA in 2003 as another undrafted rookie
5. The Cavs get a exception from the rookie contract scale and get to sign Lebron for a lifetime
5. Cleveland Cavliers all signed them to lifetime contracts
Can you imagine the team the Cavs would have had??
PG Magic
SG Jordan
SF Lebron
PF KG
C Shaq
Then Lebron wouldn’t have left the Cavs! Of course it all works for the Heat if you have Lebron dropping to the 5th pick instead of Dwyane Wade

mikeyvthedonParticipantI never really remember anyone calling home to their mother about Shawn Kemp’s defense. But, Payton and Pippen would have been amazing. Pretty sure Scottie is cool with how things turned out. The thing with these scenarios with draft picks is that you never know what would have happened as far as had a certain player joined a team. Like, if Scottie Pippen had never been traded by the Sonics, would they still been drafting 17 and than 2? If so, than they certainly would have been a good team, but it would have more than likely lead the Bulls down quite a few different alleys to finding someone to pair up with Michael. Guess it is to hard to see everything staying the same in Chicago while Scottie teamed with GP and Shawn Kemp.

iguapops420ParticipantHad they not gotten Scottie they more than likely would have ended up taking Joe Wolf, the player MJ enthusiastically wanted instead of Scottie in the first place. IMO, MJ would have remained the facilitator and failed due to lack of tempo control as PHil Jackson put it. Scottie was the best thing that EVER happened to Mike IMO. He allowed him to focus on what he did best, D up and score.
In my own little dream world, I’d like to think MJ would have gone unsuccessful until 96′ when the chicago Bulls would have drafted 17 year old Kobe Bryant allowing him to start from day 1 and he and Mike would run off 4 straight titles with MJ as "the man", then he’d step aside and become the second option and they’d run titles off until 04 with Kobe as the man and they’d rebuild on the fly.
Oh, what could have been. BTW, since we’re on the subject of what if’s, anyone wonder what could have possibly actually gone down had the Bulls traded Pippen to Charlotte for the rights to Kobe.
Harper/Kerr
Kobe/MJ
MJ/Kukoc
Rodman/Kukoc
Longley/Wennington

apb540ParticipantThat would of ended well lol. If LA wasn’t big enough for the egos of Kobe and Shaq then Chicago most certainly wasn’t big enough for MJ and Kobe.

Memphis MadnessParticipantWhat if an old Magic Johnson who came back in 1995-1996 had stuck around one more year for the Shaq era in LA? I have an old NBA basketball guide from that year and the 1996-1997 Lakers would have really been loaded. They could have played five all-stars at once with Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones in the backcourt, Cedric Ceballos at the 3 and Magic and Shaq up front with Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher, Elden Campbell, and Robert Horry off the bench.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantLOL..
What IF:
In 1995 the Warriors had saw the future and drafted Garnett?
In 1996 the 76’ers had seen the future and drafted Kobe?
In 1985 the Clippers had seen the future and drafted Karl Malone?
In 2004 Orlando had Chosen the 2 Time College All American, Olympian and National Champion and polished prospect Emeka Okafor?
What if Boston had struck gold when they drafted Kedric Brown?
The lottery is a gamble

RUDEBOY_ParticipantAs i recall the Sonics had three 20 point scoers in Tom Chambers, Xavier McDaniels and Dale Ellis and were looking for a defensive center and they thought Pollllllynice was that guy..But he turned out to be a career backup….
I BET SONIC fans thought about that Pippen-Polynice trade many times whenever they played the Bulls!!

aamir543ParticipantWhat if Tim Duncan had entered the draft in 1996?
What if John Callipari stood his ground and drafted Kobe with the 9th pick?
What if Kobe were drafted to a really bad team? How many more thousand points would he have, considering he wouldn’t have to share the load with Shaq.
What if Stephon Marbury had a better work ethic?
What if an old witch didn’t curse the Portland medical staff, the curse that derailed the careers of Bill Walton, Sam Bowie, Sabonis, Oden, and Roy. I’m telling you LaMarcus Aldridge, get out of there ASAP.
What if Ronald Regan never got elected, meaning the cold war would have cooled down, meaning Sabonis would have been allowed to come and play in 1984, meaning the Soviets wouldn’t ruin his career by making him play through all of those injuries.

apb540ParticipantIf Kobe went number 1 to the Sixers and they built the same team around him that they did for AI, Kobe would have 0 rings just like AI. People always bring this scenario up but Allen Iverson was most certainly not the reason why the Sixers didn’t/don’t win Championships.
A better scenario is what if the Sixers had gotten the first pick in 1997 (they took Van Horn 2nd) and paired AI with Tim Duncan?
