The Scare Crow RisesParticipant1. Never use your Cap Space on another team’s RFA, let the other GM’s bid that team up and SAVE your money for a True Superstar if he’s willing to sign, too many times you overpay for a guy that just doesn’t fit your team’s system or is just a flat out bad fit, leave the unknown alone, if he’s not a guy you’ve seen play in your system than you should probably stay away…
2. Never trade away UNPROTECTED draft picks, it doesn’t matter how much money you’ll save by adding an imaginary draft pick, you’re going to regret that trade in the long run, ask Brooklyn this year, if they hand over Ben Simmons to Boston for a Season of Pierce and KG, it’ll be the worst trade in recent history…
3. Never draft a Center from Africa unless you’ve seen him play and progress in the States, for every Hakeem you get a dozen Thabeet’s, best let the other guys try to win the lottery…Good job on Serge, fingers crossed for Joel…
4. Always spy the Spurs draft workouts and Steal one the guys their scouting with a Late 1st round pick, chances are they know more about basketball than you do, just copy and paste…
5. Invest in Top Rated Scouts, both International and Domestic, they should sound like talking heads and be years ahead of every ond else in the room on a prospect, too many players flying under the radar with a Census Top 10 before the season starts, you’d better pay someone the right amount of money behind the scene or watch yourself pay the wrong guy publicly and foolishly (Thabeet was making almost 5 million a year as the 2nd pick, imagine what the Memphis scouts made over that span)
6. Maximize your draft position in any given year, if it’s a good draft class, you may think about trading out for a Star in Limbo and take his immediate impact on and off the court, a rookie rarely out plays the star he was traded for, barring injury the Proven Star usually helps his new team make the playoffs after living on the Fringe of Lottery he’ll, Top 5 Picks are Gold for some Teams, Garbage for others, in a Down year I sure as he’ll don’t want to lock in a mediocre player to a Top 5 Pick rookie contract, those guys usually get their ass traded or the Team just declines to pick up the 3rd and 4th year, I rather trade a Top 5 pick in a down year for a Stud if that team is willing to gamble their future on a Role Player, if you invest in good scouting you’ll know when a bad draft is approaching and advise you’re GM when it’s safe to Trade away a valuable asset…
7. TALKING ASSETS, never trade DRAFT Picks unless you know what you’re getting back, never just give away your young players and never HOARD your assets(Picks, Prospects, Disinfranchised players) you have to know when you’ve got too many Horses in the Stables, choose which horses you’re going to bet on and sell the other horses for a couple cows and milk them all for what their worth, eventually the luster wears off even the most highly touted prospects, so you’ve got to know who to keep and who to trade..

he_gets_bucketsParticipantWhy would you use Hakeem and Thabeet as examples for never drafting African centers without seeing them play in the states when both played long and full careers in college? When was the last time a player from Africa was drafted straight up without any other playing career? Serge played in Spain for years, Joel played in College and highschool in the states.

BleedGreen808ParticipantFor #2 there was already a case of a team trading an unprotected pick that ended up being the #1 overall pick. The Clippers traded Baron Davis and an unprotected 1st for Mo Williams. That pick ended up being Kyrie Irving.

Robb_CParticipantAnd just remember kids the San Antonio Spurs Dynasty was assembled by a guy who could probably win the best Grade in an NBA Draft while beating Barney Gumble in a drinking contest

Memphis MadnessParticipantWhat about THIS draft?
I would say either move up into the top 3 or 4 or TRADE DOWN.
Simmons, Ingram, Hield, and Dunn.
WOW! That’s an AWESOME name for a country western band!
Hip hop– blue grass tag team?
Ok, you either get one of the Nashville Four OR you trade down to TylerUlisGraysonAllenDenzelValentine country.
