OhCanada-ParticipantGreat mock! Defenitely one of the best Ive seen.
Ive been a huge advocate of Monk to Philly but as the year went on Im not too confident in that pick anymore. I mean if Monk went 5th to Philly I would still give them a decent draft grade. Its a great fit and Philly needs to surround thier core with shooters but Im not sure Monk provides enough for that 5th pick.
The thing is everyone talks about Simmons being a PG but lets be realistic here, Simmons hasnt even played an NBA game and he isnt gaurding PG’s when he does. Giannis can get away with it at times because of his 7’7 wingspan but Milwaukee usually has Brogdon gaurding PG’s like he did tonight with Kemba Walker. And if they do have Simmons run the offense and Monk gaurd PG’s I dont think Malik is the guy I want gaurding PG’s because in order for him to do his job offensively he is going to be running through a million screens in order to get open which will make him tired on the defensive end.
Also Monk doesnt do much more than score. He does that very well but when his shot is not falling his impact becomes minimal. What can he do when he doesnt shoot the ball well? As RobbC said hes like a more athletic Lou Williams. I think he also has a better basketball IQ and motor but thats pretty much a good comparison as far as role expectation goes.
When we look at available PG’s both Dennis Smith and Deaaron Fox are very high level PG prospects. I think they are better longterm PG prospects then any since the 2011 draft. With plenty of money to spend in free agency and a minimum cap level they have to get over every year Philly could likely get a player to play a similar role as Monk but it would be next to impossible to get a PG with Smith or Fox’s potential.
They would be better off offering KCP the max and drafting Smith imo.

Anton123ParticipantKind of useless to do a mock draft according to team need considering the teams wouldn’t even be picking at those positions if the season ended right now. The thing gets updated very rarely, for example, the Blazers are in the playoffs right now, debating who they pick at 12 may be fun, but it has nothing to do with reality.

Jr. ROXASParticipantIf Sacramento commits to building with WCS, Skal and Papa G as their frontcourt of the future, I don’t see them drafting Markannen. I love the Smith pick, and I think their next pick will and should be a wingman, maybe Isaac if he slips, or Miles Bridges.

festar35Participant100% agree, it’s shame that there isn’t any high level wings for them to go after, I like Isaac but I think he is a 4-man and to be honest I’d liken him to Skal a little bit as well.
If theyes got a PG with first pick they could always try trade the 2nd for a later selection and a solid wing presence like a Kent Bazemore.
