Hopefully this second game isnt as brutal as the first. Although I do see a good 1st half I think Deron and Paul  yes "Paul Millsap" not Al Jefferson blow this one out in the 2nd half.

    Too many turnovers.

I think Bell has four alone.

Al Jefferson is probably a better low post scorer, but he doesn’t do anything else better than Boozer. He doesn’t rebound as well. He doesn’t pick and pop as well. He doesn’t shoot as well. He’s mostly an isolation post up player. He’s not as active as Boozer either.

And even though Boozer wasn’t a great defender, he played hard and held his ground well… Can’t say that about Jefferson.

The chemistry between Williams and Jefferson will take some time.

And don’t be suprised if Hayward becomes the starter at one of those wing spots later on in the season.

He’s better than people think. Just needs to keep gaining confidence.

I’m sad. The Jazz make me sad.

Deron isn’t playing with any kind of killer instinct. Kirilenko, Bell and Hayward are missing all of their jumpshots. Al Jefferson can’t play defense.

I want to see Price, Hayward, Kirilenko, Evans and Elson on the floor at the same time. That way, we’ll at least play hard.

Anybody else see Deron throw the ball at Hayward? It was a pass, but Williams just chucked it at him like a dodgeball. Then once the timeout was called he started yelling at him.

    He mad.

I’ve lost A LOT of respect for Deron after that. That’s not leadership. Hayward’s a young rookie. You don’t blast him like that… You pull him to the side. You don’t want to hurt a young player’s confidence in only his second game of the season.

he can yell if he wants, but throwing the ball at him was kinda classless becasue you are basically trying to embarass him in front of the whole arena and plus it might go out of bounds simply becasue hes mad over something about him not cutting through the lane. Then to yell after the fact on top of all it was just too much.

Jazz wings are supposed to cut under the hoop when running down the court.

Deron Williams is used to playing with people who knew where to move. Kirilenko, Miles, Brewer, Matthews, Harpring, Korver; they all knew the offense. Now nobody on the Jazz is moving where they are supposed to. Easy to understand why Williams is so frustrated. But instead of worrying about his teammates, he should be taking over himself.

The Jazz need to get it together. Especially the newbies.

That’s why he’s the leader though. I heard at the start of the game that Sloan made him the sole leader for that purpose.

That wasn’t leadership we saw. It almost reminds me of something Dirk Nowitzki did with Jason Terry quite a few years back.

While I think D-Will overreacted, you guys are starting to blow it out of proportion.

Williams told Hayward to do what he was supposed to be doing, and he didn’t. Williams is the team captain and you need to listen to him, especially if you are a rookie fighting for playing time.

Hayward zone out Williams? That is completely idiotic.

Hayward was supposed to be a smart player; it was a simple play.

Sloan isn’t going to back up Hayward on this either. So Hayward needs to learn the offense, or he isn’t going to play much this season.

Yea… Hayward didn’t cut through because he didn’t want to. Yea.. He didn’t want to listen to Deron. Pure disobedience! It’s his second game of the season…Rookies make mistakes.

Even Sloan looked at Deron like "WTF is wrong with you?" in the huddle. And the TNT crew followed that up by saying Utah needs a positive vocal leader. Deron clearly isn’t that guy.

Deron motioned for him to cut around.

I have my TV screen paused right now and Hayward is waiting in the corner, looking at a very angry Deron Williams.

While he was frustrated when he passed the ball, it’s not like it was overly violent or anything. He was getting the message across. Deron Williams is a PROVEN leader. Hayward had better listen and cut next time.

    "Deron clearly isn’t that guy."

You are basing this on what? One play?

When the timeout was called, Deron Williams told him to "CROSS". Hayward said something back, and Williams repeated himself.

That’s all he said to Hayward. He then went over to Sloan and started talking to him.

deron made some exagerrated hand gestures and faical expressions letting hayward know he wanted him to cut. By then it was too late and the next option was to pass to hayward which he did bt throwing it at him in a disgusted manner. Hayward then scores on the play and everyone and their grandma knows he messed up and that dwill is not happy. It happens and the end result was hayward scoring and dwill could have just said "look, you gotta cut through on that one." But instead he continued to go off like hayward had insulted his momma or something and even sloan looked like damn dwill wtf?

Anyways, i agree his whole thing is done with and we dont need to make it bigger then it is.

Read. Did I write Deron Williams wasn’t a leader? I said he wasn’t that positive vocal leader. They said before the game that he’d never really been a vocal leader. And IF you read up a little more, you’ll see that I also wrote, "That’s why he’s the leader."

And yes… Kenny Smith did mention Utah needs a voice to step up and then put an emphasis on "A positive voice."

I don’t have a problem with the yelling, even though it was uncalled for. I just thought it was d*ck head move to throw the ball like that.

Deron is just mad that Paul is healthy again and he’s going to lose his mantle as best PG in the L. Playing with new players is no excuse, Nash is doing the same thing and making them better. Phoenix are going to be Orlando West with the amount of 3s they’ll need to take to be competitive without STAT. That said, Richardson is looking pretty solid thus far. Very interested to see how far Nash can take these Suns, still don’t think that they can make playoffs in the West if 50 games is the requirement again this year (unlikely).

"Read. Did I write Deron Williams wasn’t a leader?"

You seriously want to play this game? Did I write that you wrote that Deron Williams wasn’t a leader?

Deron Williams has been a positive leader for the last four years.

I know you like Hayward and want to see him do well, but if he can’t play in the Jazz system then he needs to sit his ass down on the bench.

I don’t care if he would’ve thrown the ball at CJ Miles or Raja Bell. I’d have said the same thing.

Now, let’s drop this. You’re taking it personal lol. I don’t even like the damn Jazz that much to argue with you about them.

First of all, CJ Miles and Raja Bell know the Jazz system.

Second, I’m taking it personal? It seems to me like you’re the one who’s hot over this.

I’m not a big fan of Deron Williams either, but he is the best player on the Jazz. He’s been the best point guard in the NBA over the last few seasons and that gives him a little leeway when it comes to taking out his frustration on rookies who don’t know the offense.

Shouldn’t CJ Miles know the system by now? How long has he been there? I’m sure he messed up his rookie season too, which is probably why he never played. And Raja Bell is a veteran… He messed up tonight as well. It happens.

Regardless… Throwing the ball at a teammate was a d*ck head thing to do. I don’t care who it involved.

And I’m not taking it personal at all. Like I wrote above… I don’t care enough about the Utah Jazz.

Miles got it way worse his rookie year from Sloan. Trust me.

Sloan on Miles: "If he is going to be on the NBA floor he has to step up and get after it. We can’t put diapers on him one night and a jock strap the next. It’s just the way it is."

"Deron Williams is a PROVEN leader."

I never said he wasn’t a "PROVEN" leader, hence the "read" reply. I said that he clearly wasn’t that positive vocal leader that the team needed after watching him scream, yell and throw a ball at a teammate during only the second game of the season.

That doesn’t mean he isn’t a leader though. Just not the positive vocal type.

But hey… I’m done and going to bed! 0-2 start for Jazz, so I know you’re frustrated! They’ll win the next one!

I was simply stating a fact. Deron Williams has proven himself as a leader.

That quote was not directed as a contradiction to something you previously wrote.

    Again…

I never said that you said he wasn’t a leader.

I did read your comments. I knew what you were saying.

    Now I’m done.

The Jazz’s frustration increased as Phoenix pulled away in the second half. Deron Williams yelled at rookie Gordon Hayward after the two miscommunicated on a possession midway through the fourth quarter, as Hayward wasn’t where the All-star guard expected him to be.

"It was just miscommunication," Hayward said. "I should have cut through (the lane). It was just frustration."

Hayward said those type of issues will be fixed as he gets more pro experience.

"I think with time it will be fine," he said. "Just not playing with him, not knowing what he wants me to do (is the problem). Next time I’ll get it done."

Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said he was fine with Williams getting on Hayward..

" I don’t have a problem with it as long as there’s no malicious intent," Sloan said. "Sometimes frustration sets in on everybody. You have that happen once in a while. You have to play through it. You can’t play backwards, you have to continue to play forward. Those things happen."

I went to the game and I don’t know if the tv caught the whole exchange or not but it was brutal. For some reason the place was quiet then everyone heard dwill curseing out hayward.  He was loud and told him he needs to fu$@ing run the right play. Also called him a dummy and someother things. Sloan asked him “what the hell are u doing” and to calm down

I’m not sure if I feel one way or another about that but I do know Jordan and bird used to do that and did it way more often but no one had a issue with it

If that’s true, than that is pretty harsh.

    Here’s the article.

"SALT LAKE CITY — Swingman Gordon Hayward fails to run through along the baseline from one side of the floor to the other, as the Jazz offensive system calls for him to do.

All-Star point guard Deron Williams, frustrated in the closing minutes of the Jazz’s TNT-televised home loss to Phoenix on Thursday night, gets upset with the rookie’s miscue and zings a harder-than-need-be pass at him.

Later the two exchanged words heading into a timeout, with Williams chastising the rookie for not running the floor like he should.

After the game, Hayward acknowledged he should have cut through the lane and both he and Williams chalked off the incident to "miscommunication."

By Friday, however, the play and its aftermath had hit YouTube. And prior to practice today, coach Jerry Sloan addressed the matter.

"First of all, I think both of them were wrong in some aspects of it," he said. "Because I think Gordon could have run the floor for a layup, which he didn’t do. Deron could have not thrown the basketball at him, which was wrong.

"And those are things that sometime happen in a ballgame," Sloan added. "You know, I don’t think you can embarrass someone as a player and a teammate to get those points across. There’s an easier, better way of doing it — especially with a young guy."

Hayward, incidentally, caught the beeline pass from Williams. He then dished to power forward Paul Millsap from the right side, cut and accepted a return pass from Millsap to complete the give-and-go with a layup."

since we’re still discussing it, i still think dwill really overreacted. Its not like hayward wasnt working hard or was blowing defensive assignements or something. He didnt make a cut. DWill has every right to call him out for it, but DWill acted like a huge prick about it and tried to embarass him in fornt of the whole arena and even after hayward scored and dwill had a few seconds to calm down, does he approach hayward with some sense of profesionalism and tell him what he did wrong( not that he hadnt already clearly gotten his point across), no, he instead went ballistic and yelled and screamed at him all over a play where hayward scored. I wonder how dwill would have acted had hayward missed the layup?

I think he was addressing IndianaBasketball, AKA ButlerBulldogs.

I agree with everyone. Deron Williams was obviously frustrated and, like Sloan said, there was a better way of letting him know to cut next time. I’ve watched him for a long time, and while he’s never done anything like this before, he isn’t exactly the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. His comments after Western Conference Finals trip a few years back were indicative of that.

Reading how certain people comment you can sense a bais is there reasoning… An example is Hayward.. What if it was Lebron who failed to move without the ball??? Kopbe is legendary for calling his teamates out for NOT being in the right place or not making the correct play, is he a "huge prick" or a d*ck??? Or is he just being competitive??

AND? Even if Hayward wasn’t from Indiana or went to Butler, I’d have STILL said that was a d*ck head thing to do. Llperez isn’t a fan of Hayward or Butler and he said the same thing as well.

And what are YOU talking about billyk? This isn’t even a similar situation to LeBron not having an off of the ball skill set. This was about a rookie making a mistake and the leader of the team going overboard.

IF the situation was involving LeBron, James Jones, Mike Bibby, John Wall, whomever… I’d have said the same thing.

I love it that you’re trying to jump in on something just because you’re butt hurt about LeBron James. Did you watch the pre-game show before the game today? Van Gundy, Jon Barry, etc said the EXACT same things I’ve been saying. Are they being over critical or just honest?

    This is pretty sad yall.

I’ll break the bias barrier here, I’m on IndianaBasketball/llperez’s side on this. True, Hayward missed a cut. But, he made up for it by (first of all, catching Deron’s baseball pass) making the pass to Millsap and making the layup. Deron should’ve just told him what to do but then told him good job on recovering from the mistake that he made.

Deron isn’t exactly playing good right now so he can’t blow up on people for messing up 1 play
