butidonthavemoneyBetween these three players who do you think has the best chance of becoming an NBA all-star?
These players are all offensive-minded post players but are what some would consider defensive liabilities. That being said, here are some differences between the three:
Donatas Motiejunas: Best offensive footwork, most athletic, fastest, best shooter, furthest range, shortest wingspan (6-11).
Greg Monroe: Best passer, best size, best shot blocker, gets the most steals, most efficient, best ball-handler, strongest, worst rebounder.
Craig Brackins: Best scorer, best rebounder, best post moves, best at drawing fouls, worst passer.
Anyways who do you think will be the most sucessful in the NBA?
Right now, I’m leaning towards Monroe, but I really wish he was a better rebounder…

JNixonParticipantMotiejunas does to me, he’s extremely gifted on offense. He is alot like Pau Gasol and Dirk and not like Tskitishviti and Majiec Lampe. I think he will be a good player, he’s a European player that you would get excited about!
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 4:55pm #220371
Michael.S.ParticipantMotiejunas easily, he is the best prospect, he definitely will not be a bust, because the skills are already there and then some, Monroe is my #2 Iike his game, Brackins doesn’t intrigue me at all
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 5:02pm #220376
Champzilla21ParticipantHow can you say a european player will not be a bust? Teams havent had the best of luck with high euoropean draft picks, i would take monroe over him then donta because the likes of bogut, millic, always gives me the chills
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 5:06pm #220377
Michael.S.Participantfrom that post it seems like you dont know much about basketball, Bogut is a very servicable player even now, milicic has never been in the right situation, and thus has never developed, and “Donta” happens to be very good, the Euro bust is a myth, a ton of them turn out to be stars/superstars
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 5:13pm #220379
Champzilla21Participantok if ur a gm would u draft some one number 1 just to be serviceable? Milicic has not been in the right siutation? when some1s drafted 3 they should have the talent to be able to adapt to any situation thrown at them, rafael araujo what happened to him? Nickoloz Tskitishvili has he made any all star teams lately? i know alot of international players are good but the ones who are drafted in the top ten never pan out name one in the top ten either then dirk whos lived up to the hype
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 5:19pm #220380
Michael.S.ParticipantWell Bogut is on the cusp of potentially becoming an all-star, Milicic was drafter 2nd not 3rd, Tskitishvili sucks and has always sucked, and as for the last question, ummm……….. Yao, ummmm…….Pau…………Bargnani, Kirilenko, Scola, etc.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 5:22pm #220382

JNixonParticipantMotiejunas is alot more talented than Tskitishviti, Milicic, and definitely Araujo. I think he’ll be a good player, as he’s already a good rebounder who isn’t allergic to the paint as most Euro bigs that don’t pan out are..
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 5:32pm #220383
Champzilla21ParticipantHows he on the cusp? he has career averages on 12 pts 8.7 rebs and 1 blk, sounds like number one pick material, He wont beet out howard and id rather take brook lopez going forward, way to call me on him being drafted 2nd not third it just strengthened my argument. Bargnani has all the offensive potential in the world but cant play a lick of defense and averages 5.3 rebs, do u want me to name all the pg, sgs, who average more then that? Scola was drafted number 55, i said international people in the top ten, kirilenko was drafted 24th, the only 2 u got me on are paul and yao
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 5:50pm #220384
Michael.S.Participantbiedrins,nene, pietrus, Z, Diaw
what do you think there 5 euro’s in the top 10 every draft?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 5:58pm #220388
Champzilla21Participantbiedrins was 11, pietrius was also 11, nene is legit but amare and butler were available, also nene has averaged 11.5 pts and and 6.6 pts a year, has averaged 52 games a year, i know its not fair with the cancer but if we cant just over look it at how many games hes missed, ilgauskaus was drafted 20th overall, and diaw was 21st overall
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:01pm #220390
Michael.S.Participantagain HOW MUCH EURO PLAYERS ARE EVEN DRAFTED TOP 10?????????????? There can’t be much a selection to choose from, your asking for top 10 which has no relevance what so ever
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:06pm #220392
Champzilla21Participantlets say the others were top 10 except big z hes had a decent career, diaw has career averages of 9 pts a game had a nice year last year of 15 pts 6 rebs 5 assits hey i could live with that, Pietris his best year was 11 pts a game with 5 rebs and .9 assists in the scoring happy golden state warriors offense, andris had a solid year of 12pts 11 rebs, again wouldnt be mad but a lil dissapointed
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:09pm #220394
Champzilla21ParticipantLol how doesnt it have any relevance? Im proving to you that international players drafted that high dont usually turn out i gave u my date and explantion why, most other players are players teams give a shot and they usually work harder because they have to earn their spot opposed to the ones that have been drafted high
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:11pm #220395
Michael.S.Participantok name all the euro players in the last decade who have been drafted top 10, theres not many to support your claim.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:18pm #220397

butidonthavemoneyFirst off, Andrew Bogut isn’t European. Neither is Yao, Araujo, Nene, or Biedris.
Second, it’s not smart to write a player off because he is from Europe. Yes there have been busts, but there isn’t a higher bust ratio between lottery Euro picks and lottery college players.
I would put Motie’s bust potential around the same level as Monroe’s or Brackins’.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:19pm #220399
Champzilla21ParticipantGallarni yi jialian, saer sane, araujo, milicic, Nickoloz Tskitishvili, Maybyner “Nene” Hilario, Yao Ming, Dirk Nowitzki, thats quite the team
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:21pm #220401
Champzilla21ParticipantTheres a reason why they arent drafted that high and its because people who attend college in the states usually are better, higher athleticism, and are use to the culture and the game
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:22pm #220402
Champzilla21Participanti later changed it to international to include everyone
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:22pm #220403

butidonthavemoneyOk. Nevermind.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:23pm #220404
Champzilla21ParticipantAnd when u have 9/10 college players being drafted every year in the top ten your bound to find more busts
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:27pm #220405
Michael.S.Participantyea i noticed that too, is is a good thing? why did he treat me like that and what did i do to him? Is it my fault you smell?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 6:46pm #220407

marcusfizer21ParticipantI love Motiejunas’ game… He is skilled for a guy his size but he’s way too young and needs to develop more. Neverthel;ess, he will be a lottery pick in the draft. Brackins has a solid game and so is Greg Monroe… The thing about International players is that it’s also a hit and miss… The same with high school players… They are hit and miss. In HS, when you hit it big time, you can get Kevin Garnett… When you miss, you can get Robert Swift… International players has that scenario, too… You can hit it by getting a Dirk Nowitzki… But you can also miss by getting…gulp… Nikoloz Tskitishvili…
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 7:30pm #220414

butidonthavemoneyDoes anybody have any footage of Motie? Anywhere I can watch a game or something? I’ve seen enough of Monroe and Brackins but I am unschooled about Motiejunas. I only have scouting reports and a few brief youtube clips…
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 9:23pm #220419
JayK21I can see at their peaks …
Motiejunas 17ppg 8rpg 2apg
Monroe 15ppg 8rpg 3apg
Brackins 12ppg 8rpg 1apg0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/09/2009 - 10:15pm #220420

lalailaParticipantBRackins is older around 2-3yrs that’s it….and please don’t say any other bigmen propspect is the best scorer when there is my man Donatas in duscussion!
I’m still very scared that he comes to the league just after one year , he is still big KID, he is so skinny, and his defence and rebounds will be his weakness, but there is everything about offensive, yes monroe is good, aso we have stud in favors and super-skilled “monsters” in Sidney and Cousins, but no one IMO is so good offensively like Motiejunas, jump-shot from anywhere , turnaround jumper , some thress, ball-handling, some post game, and like for european he is athletic enough..and exepct of high-level scorer he has play-making ability something near Monroe’s…so just because of defense I won’t say he is better than Monroe(because Monroe is also one of most intriguing draftees) but he is one of 3-4 players who still have little chances to match Wall for #1 pick
as for carrer-highs, OK let’s predict:
D.Motiejunas- 21ppg8rpg3apg1bpg
G.Monroe18ppg9rpg3.5apg1.5bpg1spg
C.Brackins 12ppg6rpg1bpg0 - Posted on: Sat, 10/10/2009 - 3:48am #220430

JNixonParticipantMan, y’all are seriously underrating Brackins. Y’all are predicting 12 ppg? He could average that in his rookie year or at the most 2nd year, he’ll come to the NBA with a developed offense game. He’s going to be a 17 or 18 ppg scorer in the NBA at the most, maybe even 19 or 20 if he gets to be a focal point. He could have a Shareef Abdul-Rahim type career.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 10/10/2009 - 5:34am #220445

atchodasParticipantFirst off, being a Lithuania native, i got to see a lot of Donatas’ games the last 3 years. I really have to say that some of you overrate his jumpshot. A this point, he’s not enywhere near the shooter Dirk is, and he will never be. If i had to pick a shooting bigman, i’d even pick Barnani over him. Right now, he’s too skiny to play in the NBA. Anyway, i wish him the best of luck and hope he helps Lithuania to beat USA someday haha… OK, to the point, right now i’d take Brackins, hes the most polished player as of right now. If i had to choose on ptential, i’d pick Monroe, because i love the way he plays, hes just so active. oh, and butidonthavemoney, Biedrins is actualy european, b/c Latvia is in Europe lol…

quincey hodgesmike mike…darko hasnt been in the right situation????..are u kidding me…when will he be in the right situation, when hes on his 10th team?..lol..you cant be serious, truth be told hes just not that good..has nothing to do with the situation. im sure you would say the candy man was a bust am i correct but the thing is darko hasnt even put up the candy mans numbers so what would that make darko?…and too most people on here..how many of ya’ll have actually watched donatas play?..im not talking about highlights and youtube clips im talking about actually game…like more then 3( ive watched 6)?..just curious since there are alot of opinions about his game
0- Posted on: Sat, 10/10/2009 - 12:20pm #220521
AirJuggernautEuropeans/overseas players take a while to adjust
their finesse games the only one who has been a superstar is Dirk IMO
Drazen was great shooter and above average defense
but i am skeptical about guys like Motiejunas
especially after seeing he plays absolutely NO defense
he will stick out like a sore thumb in the NBA
unless he has PG skills (start the fast break) like Austin Daye0
- Posted on: Sat, 10/10/2009 - 8:41am #220458

JNixonParticipantI’ve honestly seen him play only twice, and that was in Hoop Summit games…but he showed all the talent in the world and he played at the rim very aggressively on offense and showed the finesse that all Euro’s are known for. I was impressed with him and a guy named Kevin Seraphin, whose an athletic monster by the way. I think those games were on ESPNU…his team played against the top American high schooler.

Michael.S.ParticipantWho wants to see more game tapes of him?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 10/10/2009 - 9:04am #220467

JNixonParticipantI do…!
0 - Posted on: Sat, 10/10/2009 - 9:08am #220468
quincey hodgesim sure most havent even seen as much as you iggy….he is a very good player dont get me wrong but i always find it funny when people pump a player up that they have never really seen play in a game. its the same with most of the highschoolers (john wall).where alot of people havent seen any of his games just youtube clips but argue tooth and nail about how great he will be. not everyone on here but some of ya’ll need to stop being drones and bae youre opinion on what you have seen not what you have read or someone else says. thats how alot of nba teams ended up drafting euro bust in the past because of going on just word of mouth or highlight tapes
0 - Posted on: Sat, 10/10/2009 - 9:19am #220472

JNixonParticipantVery true, I don’t like it when people try to pump up a guy that they’ve never seen play. I’ve seen it done on here with Paul George and Ricky Rubio most notably. I don’t like it when people do that either honestly.

butidonthavemoneyI just watched a few Greg Monroe games. Just a few notes…
-Amazing passer for a big man.
-Shows too much when defending pick and roll.
-Lost sight of his man multiple times that led to easy lay-ups (Sooo ridiculous. He would like follow his man to the top of the key and just turn away. His man would proceed to WALK to the basket for an uncontested lay-up. This happened multiple times.)
-Very good at rebounding his own misses.
-Very poor defensive rebounder.
-Good agility and very good post moves.
I watched one Craig Brackins game but it turned out to be his worst game of the season. So I’ll hold judgement for now.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 10/10/2009 - 3:06pm #220537
quincey hodgesthe no defense is far from true..hes not a elite defender but he does play it. the fact that hes young and playing against guys who are very skilled in the fundamentals ha alot to do with it seeming like his defense isnt so good….as far as paul george iggy i honestly have never seen one game of him so im watch a lil more of him during this seaon….as far as monroe hes actually on pace with alot of nba big men as far as his rebounding during his freshman year. he is a lil above some and a lil below other so imnot too worried bout him..soph years is when college big men take that next step

AirJuggernautall these players have flaws but IMO
IDK we’ll just have to wait till they play in the NBA0 - AuthorPosts
