that true, He`s one of best all-around players and maybe the best defender on the wing, but he still not Underrated, and will not be as long as he a number one of a team cause that behind his use, he need to servant as a number 3 of a team to match his capability.

it’s hard to pick just one, I think it’s got to be someone between: o.j.mayo, marcin gortat or rudy fernandez.

I’m also gonna say another player from this year’s draft even though he hasn’t played any game yet: nolan smith.

Luis Scola is very underrated he avergade more ppg then Joe Johnson ,Chris Paul,Luol Deng , and Josh Smith

And he also averaged just as much rpg as Amare Stoudemire and got more then Javale Mcghee and Nene

I like the Scola pick, I had stated in another post a few weeks ago I think he could be a darkhorse pick for an All-Star next season.

I think Taj Gibson is also really underrated.  He can guard 5 positions, has a good jump shot, length and if Boozer wasn’t making a ton of money, I think Gibson would be starting and putting up 14-17 ppg, 8-9 rpg and 2.5 bpg.

Before the playoff you can say zach randoplh ppl seem to forget how big of a scorer he was, even his teammates wouldn’t give him the ball during crunch time most games he complained about this often them ppl were always callingg him a black hole. But for sometime I have been saying thad young he can bang with bigs and stick faster forwards, Beat bigger guys off the dribble and post smaller or same size athletes down, he jumps out of the gym and was a key reason for the sixers season success not to mention he came off the bench on a team of scorers. If he started he would drop close to 20 ppg if not more. The only area I see he needs to add improvment on is his jumper and is that really hard to do?

I agree that Gortat, Scola and Taj Gibson are all underrated players that help their team without getting top notch publicity. One player that I’d add to this list without hesitation is Thaddeus Young. I love his game, works damn hard and puts up good numbers. He’s the type of player that every team in the league would have use for.

Kevin Martin. He’s been one of the best pure shooters in the league for a few years now. Has averaged over 20 PPG for five straight seasons including three years with over 23 PPG. If he was on a better team he would definitly get more recognition.

Also a shout out to Wesley Matthews. The guy has good size, can shoot, attack the rim and defend. Undrafted but still improving and put up some pretty good numbers last year despite playing the last couple months with an ankle injury.

Of current players, career-wise: Andre Miller

IMO, the best player that was never a star. Miller is the #14 all-time in assists and will be at #10 be the end of the season, as he is only 300 behind Maurice Cheeks. Even if he doesn’t start ahead of Lawson I can guarantee you he will get to that mark. Know why?

He never misses games: Miller has played in at least 80 games every single year in his 12-year career, playing 976 out of a possible 984 games! He led the the league in assists in ’01-02 (10.9), and that was a 29-win Cavs team that whose top scorer was Lamond Murray. He’s finished in the top 10 in assists 8 times, and has made the playoffs 8 straight times.

He plays very much within himself (only 0.7 3PT attempts per game for his career) and can run a team as well as anyone; he has never had a great supporting cast, however, though if Roy and Oden had been healthy these last two years I believe the Blazers could have been title contenders.

Career line: 14.4 ppg, 7.2 apg, 4.1 rpg, 1.4 spg

If he averages 6 assists for the next four years, he’ll be the sixth all-time assist leader.

Wesley Matthews- Underrated coming out of college, under rated in the NBA. I think this kid has a chance to be a top 5 SG in the league in 2 years. Still ticked the Jazz didn’t do everything in their power to re-sign the kid in the off season, should have been a top priority. Broke into sloans starting lineup coming in as a rookie, an undrafted rookie at that, which historically just doesnt happen in utah, (see deron williams playing behind milt palacio for a season as proof of that). Goes to Portland fills in great as B-roy goes down averaging 16ppg 3 rpg and 2 apg 1spg in his second season. The kid plays with a chip on his shoulder, and will continue to do so the rest of his career.

wes matthews… can straight up perform. does it all.

dante cunningham… loved his game coming out of college. reminds me a lot in terms of skills with taj gibson.

Ramon Sessions… personal favorite. a young smart playmaker, with some scoring ability when he needs it. works his tail off. put decent players around him… anyone… please…

arron afflalo… great shooter. doesn’t make poor decisions with the ball. 1.0 TO’s per game in 33 min. could be more aggressive but that’s coming along..

ben gordon… has disappeared last couple years but that had more to do with detroit than his deteriorating skills. put him on an actual team next year.. give him PT… and he’ll deliver..

aaron brooks… extremely quick Can shoot efficiently… did prove his abilities in the 09-10 season, i would love to see a team give him another chance..

honorable mentions: al thornton, chase budinger, sam young, oj mayo, Corey Maggette, jodie meeks, nick young, jordan crawford, marcus thornton…..

I think you are slightly overdoing it w/ Taj Gibson. He can guard 5 positions? I’m not quite sure about that one. But anyways, the player I would take is LaMarcus Aldridge. He is starting to earn his due, but still not getting the respect he deserves. Another I would take is Grant Hill, not his whole career, just now. I think he is a very versatile player and his contribution to a team speaks louder than stats alone.

Can someone explain to me why dude got negged for saying Eric Gordon? He had a top 5 year as far as SGs go IMO, but if you ask anyone outside of LA about the Clippers, all you’ll hear about is Blake Griffin. The only thing holding him back from completely breaking out is he gets hurt a lot.

The answer has to be Thaddeus Young though…he is so effecient and versatile and can do a little bit of everything on the floor. Plays both forward positions exceptionally well & you don’t hear a peep out of him off the court even though he’s clearly one of the 3 best players on that team, he never complains about minutes & just does whatever the coaching staff asks of him.

Plays both forward positions exceptionally well & you don’t hear a peep out of him off the court even though he’s clearly one of the 3 best players on that team, he never complains about minutes & just does whatever the coaching staff asks of him.

Career wise I think he is underrated because his stats may not have been on par with all-time greats.  Stats however dont tell the true story of his worth.

Fast forward to present day…rumors of Billups demise have been greatly exhaggerated.  It was said last year that he had lost soooooo much in a short period of time.  Now on the downside to his career, some say he is a nowhere near the level he was a year or two ago.  All this while playing over 70 games and avg 17ppg and over 5apg this year.  Not sure if NYK will work out for him, but he is still a very good player.

Kevin Garnett. Not for his career, but right now, I think we all underestimate what he brings to a team. He gets you 15 and  9 in 30 minutes of play, and brings a lockdown defensive identity. He is a good foul shooter, and at age 35 the fact that he can still produce more than solid numbers is amazing. There are very few Power Fowards that are better than he is right now, Amare, Blake Griffin, and Dirk. I give him the nod over Chris Bosh, Al Horford, and Andray Blatche because although they score 2-3 more points a game, their defense isn’t nearly as great as Garnett’s. Plus that, he is a veteran with experience, and a leader, and I expect to see him around for a couple more years.

I know that he’s not exactly under rated as he earns over $8 million a year but Lemar Odom never has an issue with being a 6th man or starting if one of the Lakers’ starters is out then going back to the bench when they return and he always seems to be hugely popular with his team mates who appreciate what he does.

Shane Battier is another who never puts up great stats but is Mr Intangibles and does all the little things or dirty work to assist his more high profile team mates.

The classic unsung guy in any sport is perhaps someone you almost don’t notice on a successful team but when they move on, the team which may still be strong on paper never does so well and then you realise just how much they contributed.

I didnt neg the guy for saying Eric Gordon, but my feelings may echo that of some others about him.  I dont know who underrates Eric Gordon…the knowledgable fan surely doesnt and the commentators and coaches dont either…nor the journalists from what I have read.  He is however OVERSHADOWED because Griffin is so good.  Most people agree that he is the best young shooting guard out there and he so far looks to be the brightest of the up and comers.  Overshadowed yes…underrated,  I just dont think so.
