BobbyHurley4EverParticipantWho would make the cut for the most selfish and immature players in the NBA?
ALL-SELFISH Roster:
C- Marreese Speights
PF- Al Jefferson
SF- Corey Maggette
SG- Stephen Jackson
PG- Gilbert ArenasBench-
C- Eddy Curry
PF- Al Harrington
SF- Ricky Davis
G- Monta Ellis
G- Flip Murray
SG- J.R. Smith
SF- Al ThorntonCoach- Derrick Coleman
Trainer (on how to get even more selfish)- Stephon MarburyOn roster but threatening to retire if he doesn’t get more PT- Allen Iverson
I have left off some of the ‘superstars’ who some say belong in this category (ie Bryant, Anthony etc) because they actually help their teams win……regardless of whether there is or isn’t a lot of talent around them (young Iverson among them, but obviously not now…..)
I don’t think having decent assist numbers automatically excludes a player from being selfish (like Arenas). Finally, I almost put Zach Randolph on the list but he seems to be growing up some this year

BobbyHurley4EverParticipantwhat was it like 1 assist, 3 turnovers and 8 steals?………..ya not 2 excited about that…….my question is where in the heck did those 8 steals come from?

thaprodigyParticipantStephen Jackson doesn’t seem to selfish maybe that’s just me but Starbury as trainer to get more selfish is too funny.

marcusfizer21ParticipantGood that you put Ricky “Get Buckets” Davis there… How about B-Diddy? I think Rodney Stuckey should also be in these talks too..
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/22/2010 - 6:34pm #259511
Adi JosephGet Buckets is out of the NBA. Was waived by the Clips sometime last week.
But Eddie House could be on this.
Speights being on this list is simply absurd. Like, absolutely ridiculous. Otherwise, not horrible.

Champzilla21ParticipantI dont agree with this list at all. The timberwolves are paying Jefferson 12 million bucks a year to put the ball in the basket. On the season hes shooting 15 shots a game and converting 7.5 shots a game hardly selfish for the number 1 option on a young inexperienced ball club. Speights also only plays 16 minutes a game attempting 6 shots in those contests. Its not like elton brand is living up to his contract so there giving the young fella some minutes. Philly isnt making the playoffs this year so they should role him out their more often and take as many shots as he wants becuz he has a really good offensive skill set and it seems like he actually wants to reb.

tli232Kris Humphries- Nets
For a player with much less skill than either Brook Lopez or Yi Jianlian, he DOMINATES the ball when he comes into the game. The players on the original list are good, but Humphries is my pick.
The dude ALWAYS gets the ball in the high post because the guards don’t want him to post up…. because he sucks in the post. Instead of being a good teammate, this dude usually just does one head fake (which never works because everyone knows he can’t shoot well outside of 15 feet) and then drives to his right hand side.
I’m not even a Nets fan, and I feel like yelling at him because he should just be swinging the ball around to the guards so they can hit Brook Lopez in the post or Yi coming off a screen. Thank GOD this guy only plays 15-20 minutes a game for the Nets.
I think this selfishness is all due to being a big fish in a small pond at Minnesota where he scored 20 PPG I’m pretty sure.
Message to Kris Humphries: You were once good, but compared to NBA players, You’re just a rebounder, quit thinking you’re Karl Malone.”

JNixonParticipantAllen Iverson, even at old age should be on that list.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/22/2010 - 6:46pm #259514
BobbyHurley4EverParticipantLol watch Speights play kiddo……he IS selfish……..6 shots per 16min for a bigman is a lot. And his assist numbers for 16min per are well below average……every time he gets the ball he puts it up
And JNixon……Iverson IS on that list

BobbyHurley4EverParticipantI completely agree….Humphries should be on that list…..he was 20 and 10 at minn in college and he still thinks he is the man…..and plus he always has sort of a ‘I’m awesome’ smirk on his face

Champzilla21ParticipantWell since were looking at a players assist rates we could Emeka okafor up there he plays 30 mins a game and only averages .7 assists im pretty sure no1 here will agree with you their. Carl landry puts up 10 shots a game in 28 mins and only .8 assists im pretty sure there isnt a team in the league that wouldnt want him on their team. With big men it really is unfair to look at thier assists rates especially a 2nd year forward who tore his knee at the beginning of the season

SG- Stephen Jackson – lightweight

SF- Ricky Davis – doesnt play enough anymore…
G- Monta Ellis – No, hes a better passer than people give him credit for
G- Flip Murray – not really
SG- J.R. Smith – catch and shoot guy mainly, so kinda i guess

tli232Vince Carter could probably make the list over a couple of the guys
By Vince Carter, I mean… Vince Carter now, not 5 years ago.
The man has Dwight Howard on his team. Instead of feeding him the ball in the post, he takes contested jumpers. He doesn’t even drive to the lane much anymore to create offense for others. makes me want to pull my hair out. Like dude, you’re shooting 40%, Dwight’s shooting… 60%. Give him the damn ball because it’s a mismatch on most nights with ANYBODY guarding that Man-Child. And still… Vince shoots like 14-15 shots a game while Dwight shoots…10. FML
Remember the “didn’t try my hardest” incident in Toronto? yeah…. I’m all for honesty, but he totally could have blamed it on his ankle injuries or the offensive scheme, or… the al-al-al-al-al-alcohol. (my bad, song’s stuck in my head right now). He’s just a selfish athlete that doesn’t give it his all even if he gets paid more than 10 mill a year.
If Dwight Howard is Superman, then Vince Carter is like Lois Lane, the dumb broad who gets herself into trouble and needs superman to save her every freaking time once she (Vince Carter, of course) realizes she’s screwed

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s good to see Zach Randolph’s name absent on this list. It just says how much he’s changed his game around this season!

M-DYMESParticipantHow the HELL is Al Jefferson selfish? The coaching staff is getting on him about being to passive and needing to be more assertive. His is suppose to be the focal point of the team and needs to start acting like it until we get some big time scorers.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/22/2010 - 9:11pm #259533
bobbybParticipantHe usually comes in when devin harris and brook lopez come out. I think the coach wants him to be agressive. At least he will try to make something happen. Ji has a vagina and gets scared to easily.

j1232eParticipantIs turning himself into the late Gm. Kevin McHale the black hole himself. Once you give him the ball you would never see it again. Did this guy forget about Larry Leged!

kenkParticipantIverson – he went to Denver and wanted to be the man, In Detroit he hardly was concerned with what was best for Pistons ….. He goes to Memphis and they jell as soon as he leaves.
I feel bad for his daughter and don’t want to comment on his situation now.
Bottom line – “Practice, we talking about practice?” If Iverson ever admits that saying that was beyond stupid I will rethink my opinion. As of now he has not once denounced that statement…. waiting….. crickets

thaprodigyParticipant^C’Mon now you’re talkin bout practice? Not about most selfish players in the NBA but practice? Not the post we all came to comment on but practice. Practice…smh
