Despite Washington’s problems this season their roster had a couple young players that showed potential and a lot of people were predicting to break out. Entering his 3rd year, shooting guard Nick Young had a much improved second season and was expected to break out, but hasn’t produced. He is down in almost every statistical category, and struggles to find minutes. Andre Blatche is a guy who a lot of people thought had the potential to blow up, but has dropped in every statistical category though he is maintaing a more consistant role with the team. In my opinion, 8th year center Brandon Haywood has stepped his game to a new level. He is averaging a career high 10.6 (10th in the league) rebounds per game a solid 2.1 (tied for 6th in the league) blocks per game and shooting 54% from the feild, while playing a very consistant role in his production and playing good veteran basketball. I think Haywood is by far the most improved Wizard this season, his production doesn’t really make him as much of a standout or favorite for MIP, BUT if I had a fake MIW award, I’d give it to him

I agree with you, though I’m not sure there’s even anyone else up for the running. What happened to Andray Blatche becoming a more consistent player?

I think Nick Young would be most improved if he got consistent minutes…Well at least in terms of scoring. But I agree, Haywood has improved his consistency alot, which has led him to improvements across the board.

wizards are my biggest dissapointment this year. Way too much talent to be playing like they have been. I blame deshawn stevenson, ever since he got that ridiculous neck tat, it seems the rest the team decided they didn’t need to take stuff seriously. Calbert Chaeney is rolling over in his grave right now.

Nick young had his chances and he didn’t really produce had had some games where he started. Blatche is a talented player and is very productive when he wants to be….not digging his attitude. He says he gets lack of touches but if you a talented big man like he is, hit the glass and make your own touches. Brendan Haywood has been a very solid center for the last two years, he was playing very well before he got injured last year. He is overlooked in the league, he probably rounds up the top 10 centers in the league. Hes not gonna wow you, but is productive,solid and consistent.

i don’t think he did. I was trying to sound like barkley. Seriously though, i think if the wizards can, they should void arenas’s contract. He has made it hard to build that team around him and to sell him to the fans as the face of the franchise. They could use that money to start getting some new talent.

I disagree…He, when given the opportunity, has been one of the Wiz most effective players this season. He has had multiple 20+ point games and eariler in the season he even guarded Wade as good as I have seen anyone. On a team like NY, Milwaukee, Minny, or the Nets i think he can average 25ppg, seriously

mikenike i agree nick young has been buried behind mike miller earl boykins gil when he was there foye and even stevenson but blatche is another story i never saw him a big time scorer or rebounder but more a all round player who jus wasnt excellent as one thing

The Wizards definately have talent but they just don’t have the right mix of players… It pains me to say that as a die-hard Wizard fan. They have no role players and are very weak defensively, especially against the three ball. Blatche did play decent when Jamison was hurt, but he needs minutes to be effective. He loses his confidence very easily and his confidence fluctuates based on his minutes. When he loses confidence or becomes frustrated, he turns into an inconsistent jump shooter instead of an inside outside threat. Based on how Blatche was playing the beginning of the year, it should have been a sign to the Wizards it was time to trade Jamison. The fact the the front office and Flip Saunders have virtually no confidence in the Wizards young core is especially alarming to me. Javale Mcgee needs to play more, too. He is averaging 1.2 bpg in only 8.7 mpg and has noticably improved from last year. Hopefully with all the expiring contracts, trade interest in Butler and Jamison and possibly termination of Arenas’ contract, the Wizards can start anew because absoleutly nothing is working right now….

Still waiting on Nick Young to develop, has all the tools already just hasn’t put it all together. Needs more opportunities and touches if they want him to learn faster.

You guys are missing on this completely. Its Randy Foye. He might just be their best player since Arenas got suspended. he is putting up great numbers and when they win he usually is the one leading them to victory. And for the person who brought up stevenson…umm hes shooting 28%. is that good in ur eyes?

Randy Foye is playing good basketball right now, but he averaged 16.3 ppg and 4.3 apg last season with Minnesota, I wouldn’t call him most improved just playing to the level he was last year since the Arenas ordeal.
