    • Oladipo –> This isn’t just a case of more minutes / more productivity. He’s improved in many areas & in my mind should be a near unanimous winner
    • Lou Williams –> Became a legit go-to scorer on a + .500 team. Career highs in many categories that deserves significant recognition
    • Spencer Dinwiddie –> Very impressed with Dinwiddie’s play all season. He’s on the rise and will compete in a super interesting position battle with D Russ
    • Julius Randle –> He went from a 3yr, 25million contract to start the year to likely 4yr, 60+ million with his improved all-around play. Even in a tight offseason market economy
    • Aaron Gordon –> His improved shot really opened up his game this year. Team still sucked tho and he thinks he’s the next coming of Magic Johnson. Sorry AG, Ben Simmons is… 🙂

Gotta give Jaylen Brown a mention. Should have placed him in my top 5. He for sure improved during the regular season with increased responsibility, but how about these playoffs?!? He’s showing star potential

Concerning Williams and Capela, it’s just a matter of how much their stats have improved, and truth is they haven’t improved as much as those on my list, even if their role is more solid. That’s why I’ve precised how much the stats have improved, and how many more minutes they have compared to last year…

Finally, concerning Evans, Dinwidie or Prince, their team results were too weak, the Lakers were my ceiling in term of team success and Ingram has really improved a lot with just 5 more minutes per game.

I agree with above about Dinwiddie and Drummond getting some credit

Although, Rozier and Sabonis do deserve their spot on your list

don’t put Jaylen Brown into their top 5 instead of Dinwidie, Prince or Drummond, players who have improved less and in weaker teams and I get negged for that lol…

I let it be known already to why I chose guys you didn’t list. It’s kind of redundant to see everyone select the same 2-3 players. Although none of the guys I chose had a chance for the award, I felt the need to give them some recognition.

Capela’s points & rebounds increased this season.(14 pts/11 rebs). He has become a better finisher, rebounder, leading the league in fg% and he’s averaging 2 blks a game. And the Rockets average 9.2 more points when he’s on the floor then when he goes to the bench. Tyreke Evans had a fantastic rookie year, but combined with injuries throughout his career his game regressed after that. And critics said he couldn’t shoot or play off the ball. Both areas he improved in this year. Every1 knows Lou Williams has been 1 of the NBA’s top 6th men for years. But this year he’s improved his playmaking ability averaging a career high 5 assists a game.

the question is has he improved more than Brown, Ingram, Sabonis or Oladipo and the answer is no. I love what Capela is doing for the Rockets, and as a Frenchman, I support what he does as he became a prospect in France, but he was already very good last year and his stats have not risen as much as the players I have picked.

Capela has become the 2nd best rim protector in the league after Gobert and i’m not talking about just blocked shots but also defense.

it’s not that much about improving stats, which he also has, but about the impact this man is having on his team; the Rockets would not be the same team without him and if they’ve improved that much as a team, specially on defense, is not because of Harden or Paul but because of Capela, in fact if they have any chance to beat GSW in the WCF it will happen in big part because of him.

No Capela means no defense; no defense means no wins in playoffs; no wins=no ring

although Oladipo will win the award, Capela has to be considered in the top 3 as well as he should get recognition for his elite defense and be considered for the 1st all defensive team.

To me second year players shouldn’t be eligible for this award.

That would mean that guys like Dunn, Prince, Brown, Murray, Ingram and Sabonis are not contending for it.

That would leave guys like Oladipo, Randle, Gordon, Dinwiddle and maybe Capela as top 5 candidates for the MIP award.

Guys playing more minutes in their 2nd season and improving their stats shouldn’t really be considered. I like Capela as a suggestion but think it is Oladipo’s to win.

that it’s normal for sophomores to improve in their second year but as long as the official award doesn’t prevent them from getting it, we have to count them. Anyway, Oladipo deserves it more than anyone else for sure

Drummond won’t win the award, but the improvement in his floor game this year is impressive.  Free throw shooting, too.  It is unusual for a player – especially a big man – to display such an apparent improvement in basketball IQ.  It would be wonderful if this was a real thing, even though I still don’t like the team’s prosepcts.  At least he is watchable now.  In previous seasons, he was occasionally brutal.

I didn’t put Lou Will on here simply because I don’t feel like he did any kind of improvement this year over last. He was a 29ppg scorer as a Laker last year PER36. Averaging around 18 in 24 mpg. He was just given the green light and minutes this year.

I do however feel like he got severely subbed in ASG and probably deserved an MVP vote
