Arc12345ParticipantSo who looks like the most improved player in this young NBA season? Lots of good candidates out there.
Personally, I like Will Barton as my dark horse. The dude has been playing well and does everything an NBA 2-guard is expected to do. Great length, and has really seized the opportunity in front of him. We’ll see if he continues to produce.
Others I like are Beal, McCollum, Giannis, Oladipo, and Reggie Jackson.

CameronCrazy11ParticipantI feel like right now it’s a two man race between Andre Drummond and Bradley Beal. CJ McCollum is probably my 3rd place guy too. I’d have Evan Fournier ahead of Victor Oladipo too. Oladipo’s offense hasn’t been too great this season. I’d actually say he’s a regressed based on what he’s done so far this season. Fournier is averaging a career high 18.8 ppg right now.

SkalAndJamalParticipantI’d like to say a dark horse if his coaching staff can give more PT is Jeremy Lamb. Finally got on the right team!

mgreener_34ParticipantNo love for Evan Fournier? Dude has been the best player for the Magic putting up 19/2/4 on fantastic shooting.
Also, if Kent Bazemore and Alec Burks keep this up, both of those guys need to be in the discussion for sure.
I disagree about Drummond and Beal. Those guys have been good for a couple years now, and everyone expected this out of them once they finally got a little older. I mean, one was a #2 pick and the other SHOULD have been a #2 pick

Arc12345ParticipantApologies for forgetting Drummond and Fournier. I don’t think just because Drummond was good before excludes him from the award. He’s arguably a top 2 center in the league right now. Him and Demarcus are dominant.
I really like Fournier as well, and I’m not sure what they’re going to decide to do with him. Hezonja is ready to contribute, and clearly Fournier is as well. Someone needs to get moved.

RUDEBOY_Participanti know he’s shooting only 39%,but he’s almost averaging a double double.and he seems to be playing with more confidence this yr.

tuck243ParticipantNot to mention, he’s floating around the same numbers as last year. Gaining more confidence in his shot shouldn’t equate to MOP nomination. Especially when the player being mentioned really didn’t improve. In a few games he’s confident in his shot and then the next he’s not. I feel like whenever it’s not going in early he has issues.
But how long is it going to take him to actually improve? It’s been 5 years now and he has the same game as a rookie. No real improvement. I think he receives too much of a pass (especially on this site).

bumbleb33Participantthe +- when rubio is off the floor and on is easily explained…. Zach "tunnel vision" Lavine is his backup at PG. Rubio for all his shooting failures is an elite passer and Lavine can’t even run simply offensive sets.

OhCanada-ParticipantI love Will Barton too but so far he has proved to be mostly effective when the game is finished or when Denver is blown out. Although when he scored his career high 26 he kept Denver alive so cases can be made both ways.

adumParticipantOtto Porter.
With Pierce gone Otto is up to almost 34 mpg this season and pretty much doubled up on Pts Assists and rebounds.
Yes he’s far away but if he continues to get 34-35 mpg he’s bound to have some noteworthy performances.

blackflash234ParticipantI think what Andre Drummond is doing this year is insane and if he can sustain that, he’ll be the favourite to win the award. How many 20/20 games has he had already?

FrankStalloneAt the micro level, Kyle Anderson might be significantly improved.
Though it’s still a small sample size, he has the #2 defensive rating in the NBA behind Kyle Olynyk

BiggysmallsParticipantNever in my wildest dreams did I expect to check out this topic and see Rubio’s name pop up.
The guy has been the same player basically since his rookie year. he might be a little bigger/stronger but his shot is still terrible, he still gambles, he still provides the intangibles and energy, but cmon. I’m as big a Wolves fan as there is around here but Rubio is the same guy he’s always been.
If the Wolves get anybody on that MIP list i’d guess it would be Lavine. If he gets minutes I could see him putting up a 14-17 points per game type line which – if closer to that 17ish – could get him in the discussion. Coincidently enough, Rubio’s presence would help that a ton.
Right now I’d have to say the two favorites would be Drummond and McCollum. Numbers have been really good for both. What about Reggie Jackson? Does he count or do people consider the numbers he put up last year with Detroit and dismiss him? Makes sense if so, but he’s putting up numbers too.

HeroescantdieParticipantMan, he’s averaging almost 20 20 this season, to average atleast 18 ppg is hard, how about the boards? so unreal. he’s a freak, I mean he has not yet develop advance post skills and yet he’s averaging 18 ppg and 19 rpg. If he could only shoot 65% in the ft line.

He went from 6 ppg last year to 21 this year
Drummond is up there
