I’ll tell you who is Cocky, Mr. Shaq. He thinks he can do everything and anything. Say anything and do whatever, mentioning that, A.I can be consider Cocky…
Maybe neither, they are just confident?

What about Michael Jordan?? He was pretty damn cocky. He was the greatest of all time and he knew it. Did you see when he got euducted into the HOF?? He was like “this is a great honor but I dont like it because I never want you to think that I couldnt come back and play.” The guy is like 50 and thinks he can still play. COCKY!!

BTW, he is like my favorite player ever so dont think Im a hater.

How about during Iverson’s rookie season when he told MICHAEL JORDAN that he didn’t need to respect him nor the Bulls? How about when he complained about having to practice because he was the team’s franchise player lol?

i guess so , but he was never cocky on the court ( minus the time he stepped over T-Lue , i would have too ) and he stopped the shenanigans in 00-01

Jerry Stackhouse during his rookie year in Philadelphia on the 1995-96 NBA season…

Jerry was drafted out of North Carolina by the Sixers, and at that time, his moves and athleticism have everyone dumbfounded and compared him to another Tar Heel, Michael Jordan… Jordan just came out of retirement and had his Bulls on a run for 70 wins that season. On a January game featuring the the Sixers vs. Bulls, many people predicted that game as a complete meaningless walkover win for the Bulls against a horrible Sixers team. But Jerry Stackhouse provided a subplot that every media in sports were willing to listen… He stated that “he is the best player alive today” and that Jordan (probably because of his age) “couldn’t check him one on one”. I don’t know if Michael ever heard that statement but I pretty much guessed he did… The Bulls stomped the Sixers 120-93… Michael Jordan finished with 48 points and Jerry Stackhouse finished with 13.

I think it was Charles Barkely.. he just didnt care, he’ll get 20 and 15 and let you know about it all game.

or maybe even Kobe.. i mean the kid averaged 7 points a game his rookie year and walked around like he was averaging 30…then after that he just started goin off.. not mention when he declared for the draft he had shades on inside at his press conference.. he came to the league with major swag and still has it

Reality is that every great player is cocky to a certain extent. Some are just better at hiding it. Jordan, Lebron, Kobe, Shaq and Bird were all arogant. Bird and Payton might be the two biggest all time trash talkers. Bird used to love to ignore his opponent and tell everyone on the court that “if they are’nt gonna put anybody on me, then keep coming to me.”

One of my personal all time favorite cocky players was Nick Van Exel. He would shadow box and growl and grab his nuts after hitting big shots all the time. He is my second favorite player ever behind Kobe.

How about Dikembe Motumbo…he would wave his finger, in the face of every person he blocked until it was deemed a technical foul. But Larry Bird hands down has to be. He called his shot and headed toward the exit during the 3 point shoot out one year. He cursed out Chuck Person one year during a playoff game, calling himself “the best fucking shooter in the league”.

Earlier in his career, I wouldn’t have said that he’s cocky, but in the last 3 or 4 years, after his abilities have visibly dropped, I definitely consider him to be super cocky. I mean, the guy has more body fat than a beluga whale, and he’s going around during all-star games saying that he can play point guard?

You guys remember the “yo kobe, tell how my ass taste?” debacle? Like, is this guy out of his mind dissing Kobe? Shaq is 90% washed up at this time in his career and is dissing one of the top 2 players in the NBA? Ninja Please….

Recently, during the Suns’ introduction of Shaq, he said something along the lines of “I’m just as good as I was 10 years ago.” I mean, when Shaq WAS good, him saying confident stuff was normal for a young man at the TOP of the NBA, but nowadays, it seems as if Shaq either has serious emotional issues or some mental disability (which wouldn’t surprise me due to his lazy eyes and boyish demeanor).

Reggie Miller, have u heard the way he talks to Charles. He thinks he can make any shot over any player at any moment, like he is the best player in NBA history. And A.I., Allen used to not come to practice becuz he said he didn’t need it…WTF?

I like everyone’s opinions a lot. I would like to add Eric Devendorf. He was cocky to a fault; where it sabatoged his draft status. But you have to admit, he’ll hit a three-point shot or shoot a fancy layup and he’ll scream F… you all the up the floor. Or he’ll hit a game-winning shot and jump on a scores table and yell F….you to the 28,000 in attendence inside Madison Square Garden. He had swagger, but boy he was cocky as ever.

Dhamp…the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.

In the short time Brandon Jennings has been in the NBA he has shown to be the cockiest player… he thinks he can do anything, I like the kid- his cockiness is what makes him so great. He will say anything in the media to get attention- him being in Milwaukee will not stop him from garnering a lot of attention.

agree with you 100%, most of the guys we are listing could at least back it up with their play. deshawn would go 0–8, hit one, then act like he was the ish. i think sometimes we mistake cockiness for confidence, but most of these comparissons are spot-on
