I’m sorry, its just so hard to watch a hard fought game like that and ignore how bad the officiating in college basketball is. And most definitely not one way or the other, just terrible terrible calls. No travel calls on Russ Smith or Armstead, weak, off ball fouls to jack up the team fouls, and just plain bad calls in general.

But one stood out to me beyond everything else. On the surface, it didn’t cause much difference but on the last play it did come into play. The play that lead to the under 4 time out, where Butler was coming down with a rebound, and Hancock essentially fouled him once, and then hit him in the head, was called, the announcers acknowledged how obvious it was, we go to a commercial, come back, and it was some how a jump ball? Butler should have been shooting 2, but since Hall scored on the possession anyway it didn’t really matter. Until the jump ball that occurred with 6 seconds left and killed Wichita’s last gasp. I’m not saying Wichita would have won, it would have been unlikely, but that terrible call did impact the end of the game. I just can’t believe these people who enjoy watching this congested college game over the NBA, especially when as shady as NBA officials have been, at least they are good at their jobs for the most part.

And neg me if you must, I am pretty sick of Kevin Ware. He got hurt. Injured. Last time I checked, last year Thomas Robinson was in the final four and his mom died. I think that was a story worth harping on because it was legitimate tragedy. Kevin Ware is hurt. He will play again. Ryan Kelly was hurt this year, Derrick Rose has been hurt for over a year, Andrew Bynum has been hurt for a year. It was “gruesome” yes, but my god, get on with your lives he broke his leg he didn’t injury his brain or faint or anything like that.

Plus he’s not even a legit prospect. 6’2, 175 pound 2-guard. People are talking about him like he has Derrick Rose’s importance.

You’re right. He broke his leg. Which is a not totally unheard of sports related injury. Not sure why he is being treated as though it was a near death experience…

Man you made a GREAT point about the foul call that turned into the jump ball! I thought I was the only one who saw the significance of that single play. I wonder what made them change it to a jump ball.Wichita wouldve had two more points plus the possession for a chance to win or tie the game.

That calllll was terrible, could not believe that they called a jump ball on that, he literally had the ball for about a second or two before they called that. Hancock didn’t even have possession he essentially just came and touched the ball. On the subject of Kevin Ware…. I do believe they’re exaggerating his story slightly, but lets not get disrespectful now. Working all year to get to one stage; and then so close to the end of that road you get hurt is terrible. It’s like waiting all your life to meet the love of your life, and then a day before you’re scheduled to meet her, you go blind and deaf. His “importance” shouldn’t matter, he got hurt, he loves his team and they love him. Get over it. If you can’t stand to watch his story spend your next few weeks watching the Logo channel because nothing is going to change.

And that’s fine that is your opinion. I know nothing is going to change, I just don’t get what makes it a bigger injury or bigger story than some of the other BIG ones we’ve had in hoops this year. I guess in college sports, they are always looking for a story over what’s actually going on in the games. And you yourself admitted it’s been exaggerated.
