This is a rumor reported by InsideHoops.com.

It is supposed to be a straight up trade with money incentives. The Celtics are the one who offered the trade.

What do you think of this??
    Will this go down??
Who benefit from this the most?

Ray Allen’s easy going attitude was a great fit for Boston….But he’s on the downside of his career..Boston is getting the better of this deal…In the past Championship caliber teams failed to add young talent ..So when the vets retired they went thru meager years..Becuz they didnt have any talented youngsters to carry them on…Getting Ellis is great..He’s on the verge of becoming an AllStar

this trade would be incredible for the celtics, rondo and ellis in a backcourt would be incredibly quick and give teams like cleveland and LA nightmares on the perimeter… imagine watching mo williams/anthony parker or derek fisher/an exhausted Kobe trying to keep these two infront of them

Financially I’m pretty sure it isn’t even possible? Monta makes 11 mil Ray Ray makes like 18.5?

I’d assume Maggette or someone would have to be involved which would make it a big no no. Monta on that team though would be disgusting. I don’t think he’d be dropping 26 points a night but 22 isn’t a stretch. Celtics could be favorites again.

0% chance of this happening though

Just saw that if it goes down, Rodmanivic would be in it to equal out salaries.

How would Ellis fit into Boston’s scheme? It seems like GS and Boston are completely opposite in terms of style. GS is an up and down, no defense, fast break type of team (somewhat the epitome of the NBA lately) and Boston is more of a Blue Collar, defensive, more team oriented offensively, slower paced team. I know he and Rondo would be great offensively, but they’d be awefully small. Does Ellis play any defense. Would he fit offensively, with Rondo and Pierce both on the perimeter and KG also getting touches in the post?

I just don’t see this trade going down, I don’t think Ellis is a good fit in Boston, yeah he might be more talented and he’s younger, but theres a difference between being the most talented team and the best team. I just don’t think Ellis would fit their style of play.

Biggysmall has it right, Monta isnt the best shooter in the world and would only bring more attention towards pierce and garnett.

Funny… I made a post about Ray Allen being on the move a few days ago and a few people on here said the Celtics wouldn’t do that because they’re contenders and it’s the middle of the season. Said it wouldn’t be a good move.

The fact is… Allen is 34 years old and on the last year of his deal. The Celtics are way over the cap and won’t have any money to land a free-agent this summer… That’s EVEN if they don’t re-sign Allen. It makes sense for them to move his expiring contract now and get back some young pieces that can help now and in the future. The trade I proposed was to Sacramento for Kevin Martin, but I think a deal for Monta would work too. Monta is undersized for the two, but he’s shown the toughness and competitiveness to defend bigger guards.

Ray Allen has made a lot of clutch 3’s towards the end of big games. I think Boston will miss that most.  That being said though they still have Pierce who is super clutch at the end of a game & Eddie House still gives them a quality 3 point shooter.  There are a lot of things Ellis can bring to Boston that Allen didn’t give them.  A Rondo/Ellis backcourt would be  real tough for opponents to defend once they develop chemistry.

I like this deal for the Warriors too.  Curry/Allen backcourt gives them two pure shooters. Plus you’ve got Morrow. Plus the expiring contract is huge.  Maybe Golden State can sign a quality free agent big man in 2010.  Getting rid of Radmonovic is a huge bonus.  This would put the Warriors in solid financial shape.  Lets be honest did you ever see Golden State making a deep playoff run with Curry & Ellis starting in the backcourt?…I didn’t.  Warriors need Wall haha.

like i said before that would be a dumb move and biigie hit the nail right on the head. plus ellis needs the ball alot to be very effictive. allen or a shooter that can also play would be a perfect fit for this team not some one who needs the ball alot to be effective. rondo handles that thing alot and if hes not the paul does

as far as curry ellis back court making a deep run into the playoffs no that wouldnt happen but neither would one with wall, redd, joe johnson or any other one because the team isnt good enough.

Aren’t you the one who said the Celtics wouldn’t trade Ray Allen considering they’re contenders and because it’s the middle of the season?
