WolfRobParticipantFun Question. Very debatable. Even the poll on the main page is split 50% MKG 49% Barnes. If your a GM, who do you take and why?
Actually lets make it more specific.
Who do you take if your theBobcats.
Wiz.
Cavs.
Please stick to just discussing these players. I’m curious to what your guys opinions on them are.

mosdefParticipantBobcats- Barnes
Wizards-MKG
Cavs-push
I think Barnes will always be the better scorer. I think MKG will be the better all around player. MKG needs to work on his wing skills( handle and shooting) but his defense and intensity will translate. Maybe a Shawn Marion early on in terms of do everything. Barnes needs more want to penetrate but as LeBron has showm, flipping a switch is hard to do. I think he can be a Deng type but Paul Pierce was majority a jumpshooter with average atleticism under Roy Williams and I think thats what people want with Barnes cuz he does have talent

WolfRobParticipant@niq
Defense wins championships.
Better hope Kemba can put the ball in the hoop.

niQParticipantI think I’d go MKG for all of them…
Especially for the Bobcats.. think about a team with Biyombo and MKG. No offense to Charlotte fans but if they stink for 1 more year, there is potential for a Biyombo, MKG, Noel team…

now – Barnes0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/13/2012 - 6:44pm #681290

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantBarnes’s game is Taylor made for the NBA while mkg is the better player he may suffer an identity crisis on offense

theONEweALLknowParticipantdont get me wrong mkg is a very intellegent high motored player but as one gm had recently sayed kentucky hides some flaws in peoples game or sometimes makes them look better then what they are now mkg is athletic but alot of people are saying he will be a elite defender cause of how he locked people down in college but to me he looked alot better because he had davis and t jones behind him no knock on mkg but maybe hes not as great on defense as it may seem now i love the way the kid plays hes a natural leader! you cant really name another 18 year old kid who works as hard as him he really shows how much he wants to make it and he really wants to get better! but the only team i say out of the 3 to draft him would be washington they like to run the court with john wall and mgk is made for that but the bobcats need scoring and the cavs expressed already how much they love barnes so i say those two teams would take barnes and if im the gm of either of those 3 teams i take barnes to me he is a safe pick and will do way better in the league then he did in college

PulseGlazerParticipantBobcats – Barnes. I think with Biyombo and Henderson not being shooters, they need a guy like Barnes more than MKG, but the real answer is neither. Barnes needs a 1 who distributes better than Cha’s.
Wizards – MKG. They seem to be rebuilding as a hard working, fast paced team. That’s an ideal situation for MKG. Nene is a great passer, as is Wall, so he should be in good position to really impact the game. Still, for the Wizards, I’d prefer Beal, but that’s neither here nor there.
Cavs – MKG is their ideal pick. Irving’s shooting prowess makes up for a lot and someone like Lamb or Jenkins later can add more of it at the 2.

B-ball fanParticipantI’d take MKG for all three. He just is the superior player, in my opinion. More dangerous slasher and is the top perimeter defender in this year’s draft. He isn’t an iso scorer or a great spot up shooter, but he is very good at attacking the rim and finishing on offense.

chocboywndrParticipantI would take Barnes for all 3. I have said since people started comparing them that as much as mkg intangibles are great when you look at the complete package Barnes is better. Offensivley he is clearly superior with a greater upside, athletically Barnes proved at the combine he is superior in every single catergory most notably to me agaility and sprint. Defensively mkg played better at UK but barnes athletic numbers prove that should he put work in he can be dominant there also. Intangibles I will say mkg has maybe best in draft so he beats barnes there but barnes is far from bad, he is known as hard worker and good teammate. I think barnes will end up being a better player in nba than college. I also see mkg struggling to correct his shot a lot more than people want to believe. I know the negs happen when you critisize mkg but thats my opinion.
