So anyone that follows the site closely knows that I am a WVU fan but I claim to have a ZERO BIAS when it comes to the NBA.. Right??

I want to still have a zero bias but I want a team to cheer for.  The Bobacats are close to me here in Shouthern WV and their stadium is the only professional basketball stadium I have ever been to.. I saw them play the Suns when the Suns were killing people with Nash, Marion, Amare and co.  It was before Shaq.. The Bobcats still had Adam Morrison, Raymond Felton, Emeka Okafor, Gerald Wallace, and that crew. Needless to say, I left there very dissapinted in the quality of the game I got to see.

Also, like any kid who liked basketball in the 90s, I am a huge MJ fan.. I want him to do well but that has very little impact on me wanting to like the Bobcats.. Main reason is that they are only a 3 or so hour drive from me so I may be able to catch a couple games a year in person.

Here are a few things that MJ needs to do to make me a fan:

    1. #1 Pick – I know this is out of his hands but it would go a long way to helping them become a more serious franchise.  They need Anthony Davis to change this team and have a "star" player to maket.  Because looking at this team now, who is the star?? Magettee?? Augustin?? Walker?? No.. None of these guys..

    2. Austin Rivers – I know it would be a hard thing to do, but they need to trade to get him.  I dont think he will be the best player in the draft but I think he has a bit of an "it" factor that makes people like him. Has a bit of a flair for the dramatic and I do think he will be an All-Star in the league.  If this team is going to have Anthony Davis on the inside, they need a good option for the outside also.  More than just Kemba and DJ.  If this means trading Byombo, I say do it.. If I have to give up my best player, other than Davis, I say do it.. Clean out this team and just start over.

    3. Mike D’Antoni – HE IS NOT THE ANSWER!  I understand that.  However, I think he can be a stepping stone for a program to build with.  D’Antoni is notorious for showing casing a players skills and hiding their weaknesses.  Hire in under the primise that within 3 years, he will be out of town. I know its sort of a shady thing to do but look at it like this.  Mike D will make the team recognizable and give them a true identity.  He will allow players to succeed and probably put them in the highlight reel most nights on SportsCenter.  Once D’Antoni gets this team playing and exciting, move him out of town and bring in a guy that will bring a championship attitude and can make this team work on both ends of the floor.
First get the offense, recognition, and popularity, then add the defense and start contending.

I know its alot to gain just 1 fan but hey, I think Im worth it!

Mike Antoni (dont say the D cuz he dont preach any) would be a decent choice in my opinion if they got Davis. A front court of Biyombo and Davis would block crazy shots so a system that can score points probably is best if you pair those two.

MJ, there is still a way to make me a fan.. You just have to work for it..

Take Andre Drummond with the #2 pick – Sure, its a bit risky but in this situation, you have to take chances.  Drummond could turn into Alonzo Mourning if he peaks.  A player like that goes a very long way in turning a franchise around. Pair him with the PG of the future, Walker, and they already have some chemistry because they played for the same coach at the same college. The new coach could use this to his advantage on play calls.

Aquire another draft pick in the 8-12 range – With pieces like DJ Augustine, Byombo, Henderson, and Maggette and his expiring contract, it shouldnt be too hard to get another draft pick.  The Blazers may want to swap at 6 or 11 depending on what is offered. With that draft pick, take a SG.  Beal, Lamb, or Rivers would be the preferd choice.  Pairing Lamb with Drummond and Walker coud help the transition to the NBA for both guys. Beal is a nice fit because he would fit on any team. Rivers may be the best choice because of his ability to score for himself.  Even if he doesnt start, he could play behind Henderson and provide instant offense for a team looking to score.

I still say Mike D’Antoni – I just feel like a team that is looking to attract fans and make a name for themselves, D’Antoni is just the right guy.  He could make Walker a legit PG in the league and will bring out the best offense in everyone.

    Do the right think MJ!
