SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantNigel Hayes misses the final free throw Wisconsin wins. Unbelievable..that is exactly why great coaches are at a premium. With one time out and a free throw to put them up 2 with 4 seconds. I blame the coach. I’m sittting here yelling at the screen miss.

frogmanParticipantI wouldn’t say great coaches are at a premium because they didn’t tell him to miss a free throw. The defense after the free throw was made was quite poor but I think it’s time to move the college three point line back to NBA range. The buzzer beating floater did not even look that long and it was still a three pointer. The way the game is turning into a jump shot-a-thon I think it’s about time.

OhCanada-ParticipantYep I completely agree with this and think its just a matter of time. It really makes no sense as to why it hasnt already happened. They keep talking about opening up the college game yet havent made this adjustment. I would also like to see continuation at the college level although I like the 20 minute half, 5 foul, possession arrow, 30 second shot clock style whicg would keep thier unique theme.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantA great coach should know every factor of the game especially if I realize it. The whole staff didn’t think to take their final time out to tel Nigel to miss it. That’s on them.

frogmanParticipantThere was still what? 4 – 5 seconds left in the game. That’s enough time to secure the rebound and go coast to coast for the layup as Wisconsin would be petrified of fouling only being up by 1. I agree with missing free throws a lot of the time however I don’t see a problem in this instance. The guy had to make an off-balance three point floater.

kobyzParticipanti’m dissepointed for Nigel Hayes, my favorite college player, why no one is talking about him being a first round draft pick? he has uniqeu skills set at this storng body…

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI think the question with Hayes boils down to can he make enough open jumpers to keep defenses honest, especially if he’s playing primarily on the wing at the next level? His jump shot just hasn’t really shown much improvement over the past 3 seasons. Defensively, I really like his potential though as he can probably guard at least positions.

kobyzParticipantyes, if he get consistent jumper he can be the next Draymond Green/Larry Johnson, but at least i think he could be Boris Diaw/Anthony Mason…

BasterdInABasketParticipantNo signs found after four years. More realistically the next Luc Richard Mbah a Moute.

BasterdInABasketParticipantNot about MISSING free throws it’s about MAKING them. WI was 20/30 from the line as a team which at 66.6% is slightly above their season average (330some out of 360some teams in the country). This was nothing new and theme all season which most Badger fans knew would ultimately be their downfall and it was.
Wisconsin did all they could at the end after the Koenig injury. Hayes was a bull down low but 7/14 fts was the killer. 8/14 and it’s a different outcome. Their defense was horrible the last play but with that much time left you can’t willingly miss a FT and give the other team the chance to win on any shot or foul call.

kobyzParticipantHayes should not been the one guarding the little guy with the ball in the open floor the last play…

BasterdInABasketParticipantAbsolutely. Can’t fault him for that. Trice was the help defender and played matador defense, no help at all.
