valentineThat would be one fun lineup to watch. And KLove is rugged enough at 6’10 265 to play Center, Ala Stoudemire on the run and gun Suns
Now you got C-Love PF-Dwill SF-Beastly SG-W. Johnson PG-Rubio
Can you imagine Rubio running with that offensive team? 110 pts per night easy.

JordanC20ParticipantKevin Love is a true power forward…

RUDEBOY_Participantdude you must’ve just started watching basketball if you want to see a team only play 1 end of the court….
Plus Kurt Rambis isnt a very creative offensive coach….

rileymcshea3Participantthis defense will be worst then the warriors because there guards are slower and they dont have a post that can actually block shots

Awesome-O-420ParticipantI don’t see a lot of defense there. Kevin Love was 20/15 last year, which is great for a PF, so points were not an issue, but in the few games I saw, Love was a liability on the defensive end. A Wolves fan could speak better than me since I saw maybe 10-12 Timberwolves games, but I’m not sure he is a defensive stopper which is important if you want to be a playoff team. (LA-Bynum, Mavs-Chandler, Thunder-Perkins, Bulls-Noah). Beasley has the talent to be a top defender, but his commitment doesn’t seem to be there, and I wouldn’t bet on him to be either. Williams could defend, like a lot of people I see him as Beasley with more PF skill set and better intangibles.
If I were Minnesota I would shop Beasley while he still has some trade value. He might change his attitude and become a beast – but after a few years in the league, when is he going to wake up? Some teams may believe they can turn him around – and that team may be willing, and may have some valuable assets to trade to the Wolves, so maybe the Wolves grab Williams (if he doesn’t go #1) and shop Beasley.
I think most people are rooting for Beasley and who doesn’t love redemption/comback stories, but I just don’t see Beasley maturing anytime soon and taking full advantage of his physical attributes/skill set. I think the Wolves have to shop somebody, Beasley, Williams(included here since forum author has Williams drafted as hypothetical) and Love all score points, and there may not be enough to go around as all are not the most effencient scorers – not to mention Wesley Johnson etc.

Mr. 19134ParticipantThe big question is if the Wolves did draft Williams is who is better suited to play PF? Williams of Beasley? I personally think Beasly is a better natural rebounder making him a better PF. But Williams is more rugged and has the mentality needed to play in the post. Let’s not forget the Wolves still have Randolph, Darko, and Pekovic who all played pretty well in spots for the Wolves last year. Especially Darko who proved he is a starting center in the league who will provide interior defense, shot blocking, and toughness.
I don’t like the idea of Beasley and Williams playing together either they are way to similar. We saw the mess last year that was Turner and Iggy trying to play together when we all could of told Doug Collins from the start of the season they can’t play together. Plus Love is 6’9 and does not have a 7 foot wingspan making him way to short to play Center full time.
Bottom Line is the Wolves either draft Kanter or have to trade this pick. They just have to trade this pick. If they draft Kanter he can develop nicely alongside Love, and won’t have the pressure to contribute immeditaly with Darko and Pekovic ahead of him. Plus Rubio would certainly love to play alongside Kanter. Giving Rubio 2 big men with super soft hands, mobility, and shooting range would make him a better PG.
But in the end I’m not sure the Wolves need Kanter either. They really need to look into trading this picc for a proven veteran swingman. Iggy would be a perfect fit if he didn’t make so much money.

Memphis MadnessParticipantOr they could draft Kanter. Kanter and Love could give them a similar combo that Marc Gasol and Z Bo give the Grizzlies. They would still have a high scoring small forward in Beasley and a creative point guard in Rubio. Their front line would be set as would their point guard position.

Mr. 19134ParticipantThere is nothing wrong with Beasley’s attitude. He changed it around last year after nearly averaging 20 PPG and he would of had more rebounds had he not been playing next to the Rebounding Goblin Love.
What about a trade of Beasley and Darko to the Clippers for Kamen? Rubio, Wes Johnson, Derrick Williams, Kevin Love, Kamen. …….. Mo Williams, Eric Gordon, Mike Beasley, Blake Griffin, Deandre Jordan.
Listen you don;’t have the type of bounce bacc year Beasley had without a work ethic. Beasley transformed himself into a true small forward last year with improved ball handling, and even improved his already steller athleticism not to mention he’s a money outside shooter.
I’m pretty sure a lot of teams would love a 6’10, 235 pound Forward who is only 22 years old and can gives you 20 points a night.

JNixonParticipantWorst defensive frontcourt in basketball if they played Love at C and any combination of Beasley or Williams in the other forward spots.

PulseGlazerParticipantHere’s a crazy idea – why not trade Love? His value will never be higher, and he could bring back multiple picks and a star player. A sign and trade for Marc Gasol and Mayo? To the Warriors for Biedrins, Wright, their pick and Ellis? Like, what would the ceiling be? If you got enough D at the 5 in return and a better fit at the 2, you could conceivably make Beasley and Williams your forwards and just play each at the 4 on some possessions and in whatever situations each works best. I know it’s crazy, and I’m not sure it would work at all, but it is worth investigating, no?

ChameleonKidParticipant@ProudGrandpa: I see your point, but you gotta admit its gonna be tough since they got Rubio there now.

HobbyOGParticipantI’m glad you are not a GM..That would be the worst move ever. Besides K.Love will be a free agent in the next year or two you think he will want to sign a contract extenstion knowing he has to play Center when he is a power foward? The only reason the Hawks can get away with it because everyone in thier line up plays D! The only good defensive prospect on the wolves is Wesley Johnson..you lose major points for that.
