bujubantonParticipantIf Minnesota wins the first overall pick for next years draft and John Wall plays up to his expectations ( I think he will) should they select him with the first overall pick knowing they have Jonny Flynn and Ricky Rubio draft rights or do they pass on him for another prospect?
If it were my decision I would go with Wall, John Wall reminds me of Derrick Rose except he plays with more emotion. Rose is more willing to let his teammates get into a groove before taking over a game while Wall will run up the score board and then pass the ball once the defense keys in on him. Rose is point guard and Wall is combo guard, Rose is proven nba player while Wall hasn’t even played a college game. The similarities between the two will keep them in discussions for years because everyone will want to see which one turns out to be the better pro.

McWinningParticipanti would take Aminu i think he will have a breakout year and would fill their need.

KevinDurantRocksParticipantJohnny Flynn was pretty good so either trade him and Rubio or trade Rubio and Wall to get a good sg and sf then that team would be playoff bound

MagikKnickParticipantI mean, if he lives up to expectation then I cant see why anyone would wanna pass on him
But, they got Jonny Flynn, who I think will surprise you guys and excel, and if they dont trade his rights, they also got Ricky Rubio to come in either this year, or in the next 2 years when he’ll only be 20
Aminu would be great for them, but at #1 overall? I doubt it

McWinningParticipanti could see him leading the nation in scoring. hes 6-10 with a huge wingspan and ithink his a game is a lot like Kevin Durants.

QHaynes20Depends. I’m high on Flynn. I saw 15 live games of his, I think he’s a stud.
If I was the T-Wolves, Trade down. Look for a team who wants the 1st pick. Add more picks.

gatorheelsParticipantI would take Wall…I think he will have a better career than Flynn & Rubio. Minnesota could get some great pieces in return for Flynn & Rubio…so I think they should trade them. Try to get a big post player in the deal, along with a SG/SF.

jojososaParticipantMinn. gets tha number 1 pick they shuld def. trade it for a package of picks and or a sg, and sf. They have some talent already on this roster I wuld like to see derrick favors n a twolves jersey

JoeWolf1Draft Wall and trade one of the pg’s from 09′ you still have a good young pg is Wall doesn’t pan out and frankly Ed Davis scares me, he could be great or he could be a Marvin Williams type player who is good now (yes) but takes a few years to develop if he does, and the Wolves need help now. Montijuenas could be a good pick too, he is an inside outside big man, but with Jefferson, Love and him it could get a little crowded in the frontcourt, but He could be a great 6th or 7th man right away

fastdanParticipantTrade and fill the holes they have in their lineup. If they draft Wall their five best players will be 3 Pgs and 2 Pfs…that`s a mess.

bujubantonParticipantWill be a top five pick next year, and has nba athleticism and size, but his skill level is not were Durants was while he was at Texas, I might think differently come tourney time, but I don’t see him becoming that dominant at the college level unless he stays another year.

Michael.S.ParticipantWait John Wall isn’t a combo guard. and IMO why the hell would they take Favors they have a star PF in Jefferson and a bright young player with Love , unless Favors shows good perimeter skills this season , so that he can play SF in the NBA i don’t think they would take him, althought i think he is a top 3 pick bound player.

McWinningParticipanti agree Aminu wont be as good as Aminu and isnt quite worthy of the number one pick but they have a huge need for a small forward.

QHaynes20We never know. I think Derrick Favors can play the 3 and if so, he will be a intriguing pick

BasketballGuru24ParticipantI think they should get John wall…….Then trade rubio and Cash to philly For Thaddy And Their Draft Pick and with Philles pick can pickup Xavier Henry

jojososaParticipantCuld def. play tha 3 n tha nba he is 6’9 tha typical sf height and size and has great athletism they tha twolves wuld b very good from tha 3-5, and they culd address a sg need via free agency

Lemons4LifeParticipantIt looks like everyone agrees on a trade. I say if Flynn is great this year keep him and trade Wall and Rubio. Maybe trade Wall to Indiana to get Granger somehow(more details to trade). Then trade Rubio to the place he wants to go maybe the Lakers and get some good bench players.

MrT725ParticipantIf the Timberwolves landed the #1 pick I think that I would possibly trade Johnny Flynn and then draft John Wall. I think that Wall just has more superstar potential then Flynn even though I think Flynn is going to be a very good player. I also think that John Wall and Ricky Rubio could play together in the backcourt because both are relatively tall at 6’4 (with potential to grow a bit more as they are both very young). I think they could trade Flynn for another top 10 pick next year as next years draft is relatively weak in point guards and then use that pick to acquire a center like Cole Aldrich.
The wolves also potentially have the Bobcats and Jazz draft picks next year as well as a lot of expiring contracts and cap room so they have A LOT of assets to work with. If they land the top pick it is conceivable that they could have a lineup of something like:
John Wall
Ricky Rubio
Draft Pick/FA sign/trade (maybe sign and trade with Grizzlies for Rudy Gay for 1 or 2 picks (Jazz and or Bobcats) + expiring contracts + European big man Nikola Pekovic)
Jefferson/Love
Center like (Cole Aldrich from pick acquired from trading Johnny Flynn)All in all, I don’t think that the wolves will be able to lure many free-agents to sign with Minnesota, but I do think they could be able to acquire a big name in a sign and trade because they have a lot of trading assets to help other clubs who are trying to get under the salary cap and dump money. I really think they could be a very talented young team if things pan out correctly, even though that is a big IF.

KevinDurantRocksParticipantRubio for a bunch of bench players? Really? idk maybe but i think they want more young potential players
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/09/2009 - 2:56pm #198364

llperezI think they are the worst team in the west, so the teams record should not dictate if Rambis is doing a good job or not. He needs to just get guys to play together and compete.

FUTURE GMParticipantI think if the wolves got the #1 pick we would draft J.Wall and trade him to however has the 3rd pick and draft Cole Aldrich and then use the compensation from the Wall trade to package with are other picks to trade back into the lottery to land a sg/sf like Jordan Hamilton or Devin Eubanks. Because why trade rubio and flynn? They aint going nowhere no time soon. even if rubio doesnt come over this year we still wouldnt trade him because kahn views him as a franchise player.

Masrockyou’re an idiot if you don’t think John Walls skills could easily translate to playing the SG in the NBA. We would obviously draft John Wall if and when we win the lottery. Rubio plays the PG, Wall plays the SG. Flynn gets traded. It’s not fuc king rocket science here people.
