Why would they take Evan Turner if they have Jonny Flynn, Ramon Sessions, Corey Brewer, Wayne Ellington, and maybe Ricky Rubio. Those are 5 good guards and six would make the playing time uneven.
To me Ryan Gomes is good coming of the bench, but not starting. He averages 10-4-1 which is solid, but nothing special.
Al Jefferson and Kevin Love can hold their own down low, but after that Darko and Hollins don’t provide much depth.

I think the T’Wolves most need a Center and a Small Forward. They could go after either O’Neal, Hakim Warrick, Chris Bosh, Marcus Camby, Al Harrington, David Lee, or Brendan Haywood to play the Power Forward or Center (depends on if they resign with their team or not.) Some of these guys will go under the radar with LBJ, D-Wade, and others on the market. The T’Wolves could sign one big name players or two good players with their off season money.

If they sign one or two of the guys listed I think the best bet to pick is Wesley Johnson. Everyone hates him here ever since he got hurt, but anyone who saw him before he got hurt knows that he is the real deal.
Flynn-Brewer-Johnson (ex teammate of Flynn. Good chemistry here)-Love-Jefferson is pretty solid with some of those big name big men coming of the bench. With the projected 17th pick I say they take Dominque Jones because he has good value for that pick. Then with their next pick (projected 25th) I think they take Solomon Alabi for defense. With picks 32, 44, and 46 I think they take Willie Warren, Dexter Pittman, and Andy Rautins.

the pg position is fine, but they still need plenty of help on those wing spots. Corey Brewer, Ryan Gomes and Wayne Eliington are not scaring anybody. Plus, they can play sf if they needed to.

Rubio is a MAYBE.. And he’s not coming to the US for another 2-3 years.

That’s like saying, why are the Nets going to draft john wall?
They have Devin Harris, Courtney Lee, Terrence Williams, Chris Douglas Roberts, and Keyon Dooling… Those are 5 good guards aswell but sometimes you have to take the best player even if he doesn’t fit… He’ll find a way.. Evan Turner is 6’7″ meaning he can play SF if he needed to.. There are many 6’7″ SFs in the league

I like Corey Brewer to start…as a lock down defender who can score when needed…like a Ron Artest type role…But that said, They need another wing along side of him

coery brewer and turner next to each other would be very solid. But i don’t look at the wolves sg/sf positions and think they don’t need turner they are set. And Rubio is irrelevant until he comes over and and actually plays.

Turner is better than every guard/wing on the T-Wolves’ roster and depending on who you ask, he’s the 1st or 2nd best player in this draft… Of course they should take him. It’s a no brainer.

Turner would be great because except Ellington the Wolves don’t have a 2 guard for next year. Brewer is a 3, he’s 6’9, Turner – Brewer on the wing plus Ellington and Gomes as back-up is pretty nice. But the Wolves won’t necessarely have the 2nd pick…

With the other picks they should take a C for sure, but if there’s players supposed to be lottery picks falling down ala Dejuan Blair they should take him. With so much picks, they can try a Willie Warren for exemple, with early second round pick, if he was considered a top 5 pick a few month ago it’s because he has some talent/potential. Same story with a guy who will fall on draft night.

What scares me is the fact that currently Milicic is starting and Love is on the bench, playing really poor when he’s on the floor. I mean, why giving playing time to a guy who will leave this summer from a future solid player who needs playing time to develop ?

Just letting you know, they were not teammates last year. Johnson and Flynn that is. Johnson had to sit out the year because he transferred. They may have practiced together, if the NCAA allows that. However, they most definitely never played together in games. Just wanted to clear the air on that.

It’s a no brainer that the wolves will draft Wall with the overall number 1 pick. Why? Because they are currently collecting assets right now. Just thinkabout what they can do with all the assest they have on their team, packaging deals: examples: rights to Love&Rubio, Session&Jefferson or any other mix of package that will be acceptable. They can get a real good player in this type of package. They’ll have the PG position filled along with the PF and get a need with this type of package. Not often do you get to draft players like John Wall, unfortunatley they could of had Roy.

Reason why Turner would fit perfectly in the wolves system. Ellington is still in the developing stage and could become a real solid role player off the bench. I don’t think he’s going to be starter matrial. Gomes is a very solid player as well but not starter. Turner is a terrific WING player with the ability to make things happen. He can create for others and he can score at will. Has tremedous size at 6’7, giving him the ability to play any wing position at SG or SF, currently a PG at OSU. Turner would be perfect for the Triangle offense that the Wolves want to run as he can become the go to player on the wing.

They’re sitting Love because he’s the only reason the Wolves would win a game, they need to lose the rest so they can position themselves to get no lower than the 5th pick, I live in MN and I regularly go to Canis Hoopus and there’s generally a mole or two on their from the Front Office and they say the organization sees the Draft as a 4 player draft in Wall, Turner, Cousins, and Favors, they want to get one of them, Love will be traded this off season too, Jefferson and him can’t work defensively, they need to get an athletic PF that can step out and guard on the perimeter and a big, space eating, C. First and foremost they need a consistent, athletic, scorer from the perimeter, that’s where Turner fits best, if they’re not able to get one of those top 4 they will trade out of that spot to somebody that covets one of the other top players that are left like Wes Johnson, Monroe, Davis, Aldrich. They won’t take Johnson, mark my words, they need more players that can create.

NBA rosters change faster than the weather. The team you have today may be drastically different only one or two years from now. Therefore, drafting by position isn’t very smart if you’re in the lottery. When you have an opportunity to select a special talent, go for it.

As you move towards the end of the first round, then it’s OK to look for a specific need. But in general, if you’re in the lottery, select the best player available. You can use trades and/or free agency to ensure that player fits in well.
