I just saw the updated mock draft and I am a little bit surprised to see miller and teague so low (beginning of the 2nd round)….

I understand there is some concern around them (underperforming, unsteady…) but do you really think they could fall into the 2nd round ??? Or is it just a way to show us their stock is fallllllllllling HARD.

I think miller as teague would prefer returning for a more successfull 2nd year than being drafted so low (non guaranteed contract ?…).

I don’t think Teague will fall that far if he enters, he is the most athletic player at his position, has the resume, all he needs to do is keep being solid, if UK makes it to at least the Final 4 and Teague is playing solid, I think he goes first round.

Quincy Miller is a mixed bag, i’m not sold on him, but i’m sold on his potential, he could really be good, once he hits the weight room and sharpens up his game, 2nd round might be a blessing in disguise for him.

In my opinion, there’s not a much worse decision than coming out after a disappointing freshman year and hoping that you won’t slide out of the first round.

These guys clearly need at least one more year in school. Sometimes going through a little adversity can be a good thing, but they need to work it out in the college game first, and go into the NBA with more confidence in their games in a year or two.

I think it worked for guys like Kemba Walker and Charlie Villanueva, and I think guys like Jerryd Bayless, Anthony Randolph, etc. really could have benefitted from another year or two in college.

Of course, you also risk the Perry Jones effect…

But to me it’s a gift and a curse to go back to school, if your guaranteed to be selected.

Gift as it could pay off if you work on your game really hard, and come back and play even better than the previous year and raise your stock.

Curse scouts find more wholes in your game ala Jared Sullinger.

I just think if your guaranteed first round you should leave.

Theose type of high risk/high reward players would be better off staying another year in college. Most of them like Teague, Miller, and Daniel Orton a few years ago had a lot of talent but they werent able to show it because they had better players on their team

Miller is overshadowed by PJIII and Pierre Jackson, but if he stays he could really show his potential and become less of a risk

Teague had too many star players on his team to do well but because all of them are leaving, if he stays he would be on of the top players on his team and would really hone his skills better.

If Daniel Orton had stayed, he would have really improved his skills and get a lot more playing time. But he decided to leave early and is now in the D-League

The thing about Teague is that he’d be thrown into playing point at an NBA level.  He shoots 41% in college and isn’t a great distributer, the dude would get eaten alive, IMO and as a young guy why not get to the point where he can get his confidence and really produce at a lower level of competition before throwing him in with the big dogs in a sink or swim position.

Miller isn’t overshadowed right now…his game just isn’t very good yet.

Same with Teague. If you can’t play PG in the NCAA while running with Davis, Gilchrist, Jones and Lamb, that doesn’t bode well for your NBA potential.

Both players need MAJOR improvement on their games, not just an opportunity to show their skills.

If they want a great example, look no further than Thomas Robinson…

Teague has improved a lot as the season has gone on. He now knows when to shoot as well as a better assist to turnover ratio. But if he comes back next season, how will Coach Cal work in Ryan Harrow into the team. Both are very talented and similar players, so we might see another Bledsoe/Wall tandem next season.

When I just noticed Aran’s new mock, I was a bit surpised to see both Teague and Miller in the 2nd round. Logically it shows that they should return to college although you could argue that a contender with a later first round pick lets say the Lakers or Miami for instance decides to take them as a long term project it could come off but equally win now teams such as these could trade the pick for a solid veteran or in a bigger trade, even prefer a solid 4 year college guy who can play around the superstars and do the intangibles role or a player like Miller or Teague could be buried down the bench on a strong team and never realy get a chance to prove their worth.

I understand what you guys are saying and I agree, Teague isn’t ready for the NBA, but I do think his athletic ability will allow him to learn on the fly and pick up things rather quickly.

If he comes back next year, he will split time with Ryan Harrow and I just don’t see his stock getting any better, because there will be even more question marks about his ability to run an NBA team

teague would get eaten alive? i don’t think so. teague barely tries to drive like he was at the beginning the year, trying to score at will… he has completely bought into the pass first PG and mostly scores on ISOs when UK can’t get a bucket and the shot clock is dying. mixed with 1 or 2 fastbreak layups or catch n shoot. he is super quick, has good handles, and has a feel for passing, i don’t see how he would get eaten alive…
