slash787ParticipantEvery time I see the box score on this guy he is putting up solid stat lines. Last year when he got the opportunity for minutes he impressed. During the preseason he has continued to put up very respectable numbers. There is nothing physically impressive about him but he can put the ball in the hoop.
Scott is going to be in the league for a very long time. He won’t be an All Star but I can see him being a solid starter in future.
What is the consensus on here about Mike Scott?

JoeWolf1He’s real solid, I think he’s the one that made Ivan Johnson expendible. He can rebound, he knows his role and he’s got a decent jump shot. I’m going old school, but he reminds me of Jason Caffey, who was a end of bench player for Chicago during their 2nd dynasty, who actually worked his way into a contributing role before he was traded.
I think Scott could be a regular rotation player for Atlanta this year and put up 7 ppg and 4 rebounds per game.

HobbyOGParticipantThat’s a stretch Mr. Wolf. 7pts?? Ivan Johnson didn’t put up 7pts. I think Elton Brand and Gustavo will cut into his playing time with AL and Paul Milsap starting. I wouldn’t put to much emphasize on the hawks pre-season, alot of guys who are going to get minutes are not playing.

JoeWolf1Oh, sorry, Ivan Johnson put up 6.6 points. I don’t expect much from Elton Brand at this point of his career and Gustavo Ayon isn’t very good, In my opinion.
My prediction wasn’t formulated based soley on pre-season stats. Mike Scott was a 17.5 ppg scorer per 36 minutes last season, and for a guy who only played 40 games, the 7 games he got more than 15 minutes of floor time…he hit double digits every single game. It’s not the biggest sample size, but the fact that every game he got in for at least 15 minutes he scored over 10 points bodes well for his production.
By his pace last year, it would only take him 14 mpg of playing time to score 7 points per game and I think he’ll get about 16 or 17. He’ll have a bigger sample size than 7 games, so I think his numbers will go down a bit, but lets face it…when Mike Scott has been given time…he’s produced…he dropped 16.2 ppg 7.5 rpg in 23.8 mpg in the 7 games he was given more than 15 mpg.

CavFanPRParticipantMy opinion on him? He was a steal in the second round for the Hawks.

Velvet HoopParticipantHad a chance to watch a lot of his college games and he is a very good player. He has a very reliable jump shot out to 18 feet and does rebound well. I think execs thought he was undersized for the four and he doesn’t really have a SF game, so he was considered a “tweener”. All it is going to take is for a team to give him a chance. I just don’t think ATL is going to be the place where it happens for him. They have too many other options down low.

slash787ParticipantScott is going to get minutes at both SF and PF. He has proven last year and in the preseason that he can put up numbers. That isn’t going to go away. He’s not going to suddenly get worse. If Ayon and Brand are the only players in his path to playing time I am confident he will find a way to get minutes.

DolanCareParticipantHis midrange game will keep him in the league for many many years. Obviously, he’s not there defensively but his rebounding and scoring make him a great bench option.

slash787ParticipantAs expected from before the season started Mike Scott is proving to be a steal from the second round. The guy is a rotation player. He won’t be a star but like he has shown he isn’t a scrub and can put up numbers when given the minutes.
