Mike Bibby, Sr. may have trailed off towards the end of his career, but he still had a pretty solid 14 years in the league. His son will probably never get to the elder Bibby’s status, but he’s still having a nice freshman campaign with Shadow Mountain High School in Arizona. He’s actually one of the leading assist leaders in the nation for freshmen.

Sometimes people get hyped up because of their name. Mike Bibby, Jr. may ultimately fall into that category, but with both his father and grandfather playing in the NBA, anythings possible.

It’s very ironic because I have seen him play. They came down to a local high school here and beat them 79-63, Bibby Jr. had 16 pts, 5 rebs, 4 asts, and 3 stls. Bibby Jr. is a very good three-point shooter, but he wasn’t one of those players that you think to yourself ‘who is this guy’. Granted he is a freshman, he has a very good shot selection and does look to set his teammates up most of the time.

I am a sophomore in high school and I am the starting point guard for varsity as well, Bibby Jr. and I are both 5’10 and both play the point guard. Here is a comparison of our stats on the year:

Me: 10.0 PPG, 3.0 RPG, and 2.4 APG.

Bibby Jr.: 9.2 PPG, 1.9 RPG, and 4.1 APG.

I am a sophomore and he is a freshman, but our stats are pretty close.

Isn’t Bibby Jr. cocky and jerky though? My cousin plays for a private school in Phoenix and plays AAU; they’ve played each other and my cousin says that Bibby Jr’s attitude is terrible.

Not bad stats though right? I mean our team isn’t very good, but I went from 16 points the whole season last year as a freshman on varsity to 269 this year as a sophomore. My best game was 23 pts, 10 rebs, and 8 asts and we got the win too lol.

If you keep working hard and up those shooting percentages you could end up going somewhere nice. Keep up the good work. A couple people on here, myself included, love giving advice so if you ever have problems don’t hesitate to ask around here.

Yeah that’s real good for a sophomore on varsity, I was stuck on sophmore JV my 10th grade year and only averaged 5 points, 7 rebounds. I see you’ve put in work in the offseason seeing as how your game jumped the way it did

I came in as a freshman behind a senior point guard and he averaged 15.2 points and around 4 assists and 4 rebs a game. My biggest problem right now is turnovers, at times I force things, but my goal coming in was keeping it under 100 turnovers on the season and I ended up with 97 and we played 27 games. That’s about 3.6 turnovers per game, so that is horrible I know, but I played 1 minute a game last year for 10 games and this year I came in and played around 25 minutes in 27 games so I wasn’t experienced but I will definitely improve on that. What did you average your junior and senior year?

Your a sophmore dude you already ahead of the curve the game will be easy for you when your a senior; I averaged 6 and 6 my junior year but had to come off the bench because we had 2 guys that played with Austin Rivers come to our team. As a senior I moved to the three and averaged 11 and 5 but I was money from midrange, it was tough my senior year because we had Sindarius Thornwells(he plays at oak hill) cousin and teammate run point and he never passed, and we had a new coach that won a ring in the 90’s at North Carolina so we was a defensive minded team that led South Carolina in points allowed

You played against better competition for sure I think, but my dream is to make it to a D1 college but worst comes to worst I might get a chance to play at a junior college an hour away from Tombstone (Cochise College). They are currently ranked #22 in the NJCAA, so they are pretty good. If I went there for a year or two then got transferred to a D1 school I would be just as happy.

Dude keep putting in work in the offseason you’ll make it you already made a big leap from 9th to 10th grade. Our competition was ok, our division was crazy weak so we played alot of other schools instead of the ones in our division, it was fun until one day I had to go up against a guy who commited to Alabama to play linebacker 🙁

Haha our players do get looked at by colleges though. In 2003 one of our baseball players got drafted in the 24th round of the MLB draft out of highschool. Last year our quarterback for the football team got a scholarship to Lake Forest (D2 I think) and this year one of our baseball players is getting looks from junior colleges. To compare our competition our school is a college D3 compared to a college D1.

Yeah we got a couple guys make it to the pros but most of the guys like my cousins who own pretty much every football record at our school turned into bums and decide to smoke weed, we had one guy who some to NC state for fooball last week and another to a D2 school. You’ll get an offer dude just keep working, a sophmore on our team has Colorado State and a bunch of schools watching him, we got a pair of 6’8 sophmore twins and a 6’9 frehman that are getting looked at just for being able to walk and chew gum at the same time

Our tallest player is 6’5 and he is going to be a senior next year. We get bullied downlow if they have a good post player and he averages around 12.7 PPG and 7.7 RPG and he is a center with no ballhandling skills. He is a good tight end on the football team though. Yeah I will keep working I love basketball, I love this site haha I have been posting on here regularily since I was 12.

If you guys ran more and played small the other teams bigger players would be useless, this site is pretty good minus the turds. Don’t worry bro you’ll make it if our twins who can’t do much of anything get looked at alot you should have no problem

@DiaperDandy, Young bull just keep working on your craft and don’t get caught up in the bullshit.(girls,liquor,weed,trouble). Do a lot of drills during spring and summer and try to get with a travel team during the spring and summer to showcase your game against other good players your age.Start lifting to get strong and explosive. Before you know it you will look up and be a senior with some offers from schools around your way. Nothing is out of reach for you especially when your a sophomore. All it takes is one summer to go from THIS to THAT. Then you just keep working and building.

Yeah just keep working and pushing yourself, just don’t do too much. Our coaches son averaged 22 5 and 3 and led the state in charges taken but he had to go to a private school before getting a scholarship to IUPUI, while a guy who only averaged 8 points made it on clemsons basketball team

I thought I would like to join in on the conversation since I’m a sophomore in high school that plays basketball. I play at Mansfield High, in the DFW area, I’m a on JV and have been rotated in and out of the starting lineup.I play SG and a 3 point shooter(because I’m white lol), but we play in the hardest district in Texas, there is 4 teams in our district that are top 5 in the state(not including us sadly) but one of those teams are Desoto who the last time I checked was number 9 in the nation, with duke commit Matt jones and oh yeah we play the Tuesday. I also play aau , and last summer played on urban DFW elite and went to Indiana in the Adidas tournament where we beat Eric Gordon’s brothers team ,who by the way is overrated but they ended up winning the tourney but I doubt it was because of his brother. Are lineup had almost a NBA size lineup with a pg that’s 5’8,A 6’3 sg(not me I didn’t start), a 6’5 sf,6’7 pf,and a 6’10 center named Rickey Bryce who plays at Pantego private school who’s name you should watch out for.

I’ve been playing varsity Quiz Bowl since freshman year and this year I’m captain and we won our division and qualified for state. Got 6th out of 32 in the best league in the state, just sayin…

Typically I’d make fun of you for this but if that’s true then congrats to you. I’m sure that stuff is really tough, just like making varsity in basketball.
