SALT LAKE CITY — Two familiar names from the local basketball scene highlight the group of draft hopefuls who will work out for the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.

Westminster point guard Michael Stockton, the son of Jazz Hall of Famer John Stockton, and BYU shooting guard Jackson Emery will join Virginia guard Mustapha Farrakhan and Kansas guard Brady Morningstar in a private workout at the team’s practice facility.

None of these four players are expected to be selected in the June 23 draft according to NBADraft.net and DraftExpress.com.

Per tradition, however, the Jazz usually invite top local talent to participate in pre-draft workouts, so the inclusion of Emery and Stockton — both of whom are NBA longshots — is not surprising.

I know this is a big risk, but if we draft Stockton at 3 then there is a chance — just a chance — that Jimmer could still fall to us at 12.

Backcourt of the century? I think so.

David Stockton of Gonzaga will be a player to keep an eye on next season..And he might have a slight chance of getting drafted in 2 years..He has good court vision and knows the game…

I love everybody that’s posted in this topic, with the lone exceptions of McGrinny and RUDEBOY.

    Because he’s not very good?

I’m not really a BYU fan, and didn’t watch a lot of the games….So….What I did see of Emery was that he is a terrific defensive player, an adequate 3 point shooter with an slooooowww release, and not much else. In all fairness, with Jimmer dominating the offense it would be hard for anyone else to shine.

Then again, anyone would look like their shot was slow compared to Jimmer. Quickest release I’ve seen in quite a while, he loads and shoots in the blink of an eye.

Michael “don’t call me John” Stockton? U would think since we have 2 lotto picks including the 3rd, maybe we would start working out some real talent.

That’s kinda surprising Utah doesn’t have a 2nd round pick,  maybe one of these guys is the next Wes Matthews, lol

Jackson Emery is a very good athlete,  better than Jimmer, he just doesn’t have the offensive game, he’s quick, fast , has good hops, anticipates well but on offense he doesn’t create, handles are poor, seems to only want to shoot spot up shots. Great Kid, hopefully he will be able to hook up over in Europe somewhere.

CodySLC, Kevin O’conner said it himself. The Jazz will do their homework with their two draft picks, they will invite and evaluate every possibility and do what ever is best for the Jazz. The only hint he has given as to whom the Jazz will pick is that, he will have a good character, he will fit the team, and he will be the best available. That could be just about anybody. This is a tradition that the Jazz have. They always invite local talent to their workouts even though they will probably not get drafted. So these last two workouts are no surprise to me. I expect the Jazz to workout Irving, Williams, Knight, and Kanter probably near the end of this week or possibly next week.
