Lotto StudParticipant- Is MKG a better SF prospect right now coming into the draft?
- Will MKG have a better career?
- Will MKG’s rookie numbers be better than Melo’s?

mosdefParticipantMelo was one of the most fundamental SFs whoever came out of the draft. He is always in triple threat position.

Lotto StudParticipantI’m asking because they both came into the draft regarded as top 3 picks and both play the SF position, so this leads me to believe my thread is not pointless.

bloodshyParticipantMelo is one of the most productive SFs in the game and always has been. He is ridiculously versitile on offense, able to score from deep, mid or at the rim. He averaged 21/6/3 as a rookie and only failed at winning ROY because LBJ was in his class. MKG is a great athlete with a constant motor and provides great leadership, but he’s not going to even approach Melo’s stats as a rookie. Does he even have a single go-to offensive move? I love MKG and would consider him at the 2nd overall pick, but I could see him going his entire career w/o ever averaging 21 ppg, much less during his rookie campaign.

fliptonnParticipantThey’re just such different prospects. I would go as far as to say they are polar opposites. Some would argue that Carmelo would have been the #1 pick in any other draft since Duncan. They both won a National Championship as freshmen but Melo was by far the best player on that team. He basically came in and dominated college basketball averaging 22 and 10 against a very tough schedule. I don’t think Gilchrist will ever be able to put up similar scoring numbers as Melo. I suppose he could have a better career if he wins a bunch of championships but it is highly doubtful. But as a prospect, Melo was much much better.

TyroberParticipant2 very different players. You’re basically wanting to compare apples to oranges

For_Never_EverParticipantI would understand if you said Gerald Wallace. But this is Carmelo Anthony here ?!?!?!

Sewok15ParticipantWhoever drafts MKG will not be putting the ball in his hands at the end of the game. Carmelo was Denver’s 4th quarter finisher from the time he put on his uniform for his first game. They are nowhere near the same kind of player and I am a big believer in MKG.

HaleParticipantNo to all three and it’s not close. Melo would’ve been a lock for #1 in most drafts. MKG is good but Melo was a near lock to be a perennial all star.

chocboywndrParticipantI couldn’t imagine what this topic could be about, there is no way I thought you could compare them. MKG has become some kind of mythical player. I have never seen a player get so much love for being a role player/leader in my life. If he does have better career it will be as a role player not as a star. The other questions are rhetorical.

Beard13ParticipantMKG has no where near the offensive game when anthony left syracuse
