L.ShapParticipantCan someone tell me their opinion on this guy. He’s apparently on top of the 2011 high school class. I’ve heard mixed reviews on this guy, many saying he’s not that impressive.
Your thoughts?0 - Posted on: Mon, 09/14/2009 - 2:36pm #212544

JNixonParticipantHe’s honestly not that good to me at anything in particular, but he does have an NBA body and he’s a high schooler. That will always lead you to be highly touted by recruitng people. He does have some point forward ability, but its raw. But he does have plenty of time to add polish so I wouldnt doubt him being a beast after while…

L.ShapParticipantYeah that is exactly what I hear about him. It’s all about the “P” word (potential)

quincey hodgesi actually feel the same way..i keep hearing some places say hes the best player reguardless of class but the 4 game sive seen him he doesnt dominate in any aspect of the game..though hes shown to be good at handling rebounding and pretty good D. but i just dont see the dominance that you expect to see from a player ranked so high. but when i watch austin rivers i see that dominance

mmichnowicz1ParticipantTheir are two big things about his potential 1 he is a year younger than everyone in his class. He should be in 10th grade by normal kid standards, and by basketball standards he should be 9th grade. He is supposed to grow to around 6-10, and he works very very hard. So he has a ton of potiental and will work to achieve it unlike most players.

quincey hodgesthats tru..i wonder why peopel dont bring that up wit john wall being a year older then his classmates after repeating a grade. also i tend to think a player should be ranked on what they do not there potenial. if a player is better then him now shouldnt he be ranked higher now?

jeff416ParticipantIve watched him play 3 times and he didnt really impress me any of those times. I dont get why alot of people call him the best player in high school? He looked like a undersized PF every time I watched him. Hes 6’6” but if he does grow to be 6’10” then I guess he could be like a Lamar Odom type. He does have potential but right now there are definetly people better than him in high school.

quincey hodgesi feel the same way jeff..i think alot had to do with him being on a highly ranked team and playing alot while being young. each time i even pull up games on him not one says hes dominated. it says stuff like..played pretty well or didnt have his best day but potenially did this or that and did all the little things. at least with other players who have been ranked number you read” dominated this or that game” you know. im not tryna hate on the guy im just saying when someone is ranked number one i expect to see as well as read about at least one dominating performance

Mr.Duke 1426ParticipantHe does not have a NBA body (yet) that’s why he is fascinating. He is not good at any one part of the game. He a is a long skinny athletic 6-7 kid that can really do anything you ask him. He is expected to grow anywhere from 6-9 to 7ft! That’s why I say he does not have a NBA body yet. He is so raw but is able to dominate so easily. The reason he gets thrown under the bus is because people like to see guys just take over the SCORING load. But Gilchrist takes over the game in every area at the same time. He’s a great leader who will only improve in the years to come. Hope I could help.

cprizz15Participantwho say theyve seen him play.. was it at st. pats or on his AAU team?

JNixonParticipantI saw him in that AAU all-star tourny in like July…the one where they were interviewing the coaches during the games (it was super annoying) on ESPNU.
