Stojakovicfor3ParticipantFirst off we’re like 350 days away from the 2012 draft. Second, I definitely don’t think he’ll be a top 5 pick. He probably won’t even start next year. I think once the season starts, his stock will drop and he won’t necessarily be considered a lottery pick by most people.
I’m guessing Kentucky’s lineup will look like:
Marquis Teague
Darius Miller
Doron Lamb
Terrence Jones
Anthony Davis

mikeyvthedonParticipantThough I do not know about the whole 220 thing. Plus, Mike still has some work to do on his offensive game, where he is not incredibly versatile, and hopefully improves his shooting mechanics. He is a winner, and has incredible energy and he is one of the better defensive prospects on the perimeter that I have seen in a while. Still, he seems to be more of a complimentary guy at the next level than a star. Offensively, Mike is probably never going to be a big time scorer, and more than likely will be the one that guards the other teams best player. Incredibly valuable, but I do not know whether that makes him a top 5 lock. He is probably just outside my top 5 in the draft, though I would definitely rank him inside the lottery. There are a few things on Aran’s list I would have fairly different, but, remember, this is incredibly early and there will be major changes.
He is incredibly high on McAdoo, who I would have rated at least below Anthony Davis, Harrison Barnes and Quincy Miller. He seems too like Beal over Rivers, and I do not know if I agree with that just yet. I love Beal as a shooter, but Austin has much more ability too create. But, after all, this is an initial list, and the website is still wonky. Odds are they are moving things around and updating things, plus we all remember the uprise that came when Kanter was ranked #1 in early June or so. I would wait before going too crazy over where players are ranked.

NJHooper95ParticipantGilchrist is a tough call right now. I have seen him play plenty of times. He has been an interior player most of his high school tenure. He really just started playing more on the wing last summer and he making great strides. His hustle, his rebounding, and his defense are his calling cards right now. Right now he does not look like a franchise player to me, right now I would love to see him fall to a playoff team who he could help.
But this is right now. Next March, he may be a different player. He is still young and hey who knows if he even comes out after one year?

NJHooper95ParticipantMike is a winner and I would kind to hate to seen he go to a struggling team with no future, no time soon. I hope he lands in a good situation, rather than be a top 5 pick. I think he is best serve helping good teams become better.

PaulsJayhawksParticipantReally hard to say he is a lock for the top 5 when this draft is crazy good. Could he yes. You have Barnes and Jones at the SF position who might be taken before him and thats just teams looking at the Sf position. It all depends on his jumper which is a touch shakey but everything else puts him top 10 imo.

LazarusMunozParticipanthe would actually be a good fit for The Clippers…they need size and athleticism from the SF posistion. They wouldnt need to him score very much either since they already have Griffin and Gordon

providencefriars1ParticipantIve really become a Darius Miller supporter this year having said that I think he and Gilchrist will both start. It doesnt really matter who starts though because Gilchrist, Miller, and Lamb will all play about 30mins each like this year with Miller, Lamb, and Liggins.
I dont think Gilchrist is a lock for the top 5 at all. You have guys like Harrison Barnes and Anthony Davis who are definite locks and guys like Sullinger, PJones, TJones, Rivers, Drummond and JLamb who could find their way in. Including Gilchrist thats 9 guys for 5 spots so hes not a lock.

HaleParticipantIs he a lock? No. But I do believe he will be one. He could end up being the best defensive player in this draft plus he does everything well on offense except shoot the deep ball.

B FreeParticipantI think that he and LeBryan Nash have very similar skill sets and throw in Adonis Thomas, who for some reason they took out of there latest version of the mock draft, its will come down to which one of these guys has the best season and really pulls away from the pack. Either way the SF position is going to be stacked in this draft with someone slipping out of the lottery who belongs there. Kawhi Leonard didn’t come in as highly recruited but you could compare all three of these players to him and you wouldn’t be that far off, while you may say these guys have more potential then he did coming in he was definetly a lottery potential possibly top 8 player but the way the draft panned out he slipped out. So anything can happen in next years deep class.

aamir543ParticipantWas it him or Brad Beal, that they were calling the Ray Allen of high school basketball?

JNixonParticipantYeah he’ll be fine. I’m also thinking he will be a starter for Kentucky for the bulk of next year. He’s basically what DeAndre Liggins was last year, but better as a scorer and a more efficient passer and ball-handler. He’ll be a good fit for a Kentucky team that needs a defensive stopper. And he’s physically gifted as well for either wing spot. I’m not saying he’s a lock for any draft spot because it’s too early for all of that, but he should be able to have a strong impact. Alot of his impact won’t be seen on the stat sheet, but he will be extremely valuable on a team that doesn’t have many defenders.

cward23ParticipantI think he might fall outside of the top 5 not because he is’t as talented but because other guys will get picked because of “potential” He will outplay a coupel of the top 5 guys once he is in the NBA though, im certain of that. I doubt he comes off the bench, he has already been giving it to Miller in summer runs when Miller is in at UK but it doesn’t matter because both will get alot of minutes. Lamb is the one out of the three who will come off the bench because he is pretty one deminsional and lacks the defense those two bring. I would put McAdoo behind Gilchrist where he should be (but of coure people see Allstar games and think one player is better than another and should be ranked higher because of it)
I don’t think he will ever be a first option type NBA player but i could see him being a Pippen to someone’s Jordan

Cardinal_FanParticipantGilchrist is a hard working player, he is probably in the gym right now. I think under Calipari he will blossom and being the type of guy he is his jumpshot will get better. Just my opinion though im not even sure if he would come out in 2012. I know he is projected as a sure fire lottery guy but he seems like the type of guy that doesn’t want to settle for just being in the league. I think he could possibly stay until his sophmore year or until he feels confident he can go and be an effective NBA player right away.
