As we all know there’s rumors that the 76ers still wants to trade Michael Carter Williams. There were reports before the draft that they were looking to trade him. So what teams should look to target the 2013-14 rookie of the year. I’m going to list teams that will make sence pursuing this trade. I’m not write about the asking price for MCW.

Milwaukee Bucks – Nobody would consider Brandon Knight or Kendall Marshall as the franchise point guard for this team. This team could use a playmaker to get Jabari Parker the ball.

Los Angeles Lakers – The Lakers were rumored to be the trading partner for MCW before the NBA Draft for the number 7 pick ( Julius Randle ). The Lakers don’t have a starting caliber point guard and MCW would make a lot of sence.

Miami Heat – I know Miami just drafted Shabazz Napier and he looks pretty promising in the preseason,  but Michael Carter Williams is a clear upgrade. If Miami can get him they will be a problem for the EAST having one of the best starting lineups.

Indiana Pacers – George Hill is not the answer at point guard and their roster is better off having a pass first point guard. Paul George will benefit from this by having someone to set him up and he should vastly improve with MCW at the helm.

Sacramento Kings – Same with the Kings, they need at pass first point guard that will DeMarcus Cousins job easier. They have a lot of talent on their team and the missing piece is a point guard.

New York Knicks – Odd fit but the Knicks need a point guard. This is the least logical of the list because of the system being played. But this team have the pieces that Philly might want and will probably accept in a trade.

what about houston?  beverley is in his last year of his contract and mcw would be an upgrade.  plus, he’ll have a cheap contract for a few years.  houston can throw in beverley, draft pick(s) and monty or terrance jones in as well.  philly would be in a good position to tank and draft mudiay.  terrance jones or monty can play pf while they wait on saric.  both give some stretch options.

I like the idea of him in the triangle with new  york, could also see him the bucks like you mention. Micheal and Ginnas the tallest backcourt ever?

I think he’s a great fit in the triangle in New York, but New York doesn’t have remotely the assets that Philly would demand for him.

Milwaukee doesn’t work because Philly would want one of their 1st round picks + more and that just won’t happen.

I like the fit for the Lakers too, but again, don’t think they have the assets to get him.

More than likely, MCW isn’t going anywhere.

Those draft picks would be like 2018 and the 2020’s somewhere though.  I just think that’s too far out for them and THJ and Shump aren’t nearly enough on their own.

It is simply not true that there are rumors that he could be traded. There is one person(Zach Lowe) who said that it could happen this year, but that is it.

Given how it has been proven time and time again that the media has no idea what is going on in the front office of the Sixers, I don’t take one writer’s opinion very seriously.

You would have to ask yourself WHY would the Sixers want to trade MCW. They have no other point guard prospects on the roster. He is on his rookie deal, and just had a ROY season, and by all accounts is a hard working high character kid. He is precisely the type of foundational player that the team is looking for.

The only reason to trade MCW would be if they had a better option at the point and could get overpaid for him. If, during the 2015 draft, Mudiay is the best player on the board, and the Sixers like him more than MCW, and someone else is willing to give us another lottery pick where we can get another player that we love then maybe MCW is traded. Until then, it isn’t very likely.

MIL-Doesn’t have the assets unless they deal Giannis or Jabari- and that isn’t happening. Henson and L.Sanders don’t interest Sixers because of their frontcourt depth. Their best offer may be Brandon Knight and a draft pick.

Heat-No chance as the Heat only have assets like Wade, Bosh, and Deng in a trade for MCW and won’t likely pick high.

Lakers-Would only work if they have a Top 5 pick this year to keep it from going to Phoenix. Randle is an asset but not someone Philly needs

Indy-What do they have to trade? Maybe a high draft pick this year, but that’s it

Sacramento-Seems more interested in Rondo but high picks could make it work

NYK-No trade assets worth mentioning. I like Hardaway but he’s a bit one dimensional

The reason why the Sixers would trade MCW is because PG is viewed as the easiest position to replace, and therefore would love to maximize MCW’s value while it’s at its all-time-high. Does this mean he is being shopped daily? Doubt it, but he’s definitely gone in the right deal.

As far as where he would go, I personally don’t think MCW is getting traded for anything less than a 2015 or 2016 lottery-bound 1st and a good young player. So obviously a ton of teams would be in contention for this, but it may be more a matter of who wants to give up a top 14 pick plus a solid young player for a guy who plays an "easy-to-replace" position and has some blatant flaws?

When assesing which trade partner is best we arent quite looking at ratoonal pieces to increase the productivity within the overall team rather. Youre looking at undeveloped assets. Why does this have to be explained in every thread linked to the 76ers.

In other words the potential trade for the Lakers 7th pick was never a trade targetted for Julius Randle. It was a trade targetted for the percieved value of the pick.

The 76ers dont want Tim Hardaway Jr. and Iman Shumpert they want assets thats why they didnt try trading him in the middle of the season before the lottery placement was finalized.

In final the 76ers will only make a trade if they gain more from the deal. They are not fielding offers to do an even swap for positional need or due to behavioral issues or team chemistry, need, or fit. If a team really wants MCW they have to pay an arm and a leg for him.
