BasketballGuru24ParticipantThis was bugging me for a while and people are saying miami is going to the play-offs……well i don’t feel the same way, first of all they have made no improvements from last year just lost a player in jamario moon……there line-up looks like this
PG- Mario Chamlers
SG- Dwyane Wade
SF- Micheal Beasley
PF- Udonis Haslem
C- Jermaine OnealBench
– Cook
-James
-quinn
Blount
MagloireNot To Mention That this is a mediocre starting line-up that…..they have a bench stared by Dequen Cook……reality this guy would be a 7th man……they lack real offensive talented players. Jermaine oneal is consistently injured. The only bright spot is the Dwayne wade and rising stars Chamlers and beasley.
if they don not sign someone or trade for a quality guy, I doubt they will make the play-offs.
This is how i see the eastern conference play-off race panning out
1) Boston
2) Cleveland
3) orlando
4) Toronto
5) washington
6) Atlanta hawks
7) Detroit Pistons
8) This is really a toss up between the 76ers and the heat…..since the 76ers have a better bench i will probably go with themteams are getting better with more talent……you need more then one player to win a championship and nevertheless the playoffs. If miami does not to any good moves or even a move….they will not make the playoffs, don’t be suprised or shock….being 5th seed in the east and only 4 games above 500 isn’t accomplishment…..they know they need to get stronger, and right now it seems like Dwayne wade is going to be finding a early ticket out of miami

McWinningParticipanti disagree. i think Chalmers has a Rondo like game with his defense and his offense will come in his second year like it did for Rondo. dont forget O,Neal if hes healthy will still be a good player. and Beasley will keep getting better. i think their a 6-8 seed.

jeff416ParticipantMiami will make the playoffs as long as they have a healthy Wade.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 10:55am #195156

llperezAs of right now, I don’t see them making the playoffs. Other playoff teams are making some moves like Atlanta, Philidelphia, and Detroit. Non playoff teams like Toronto, Indiana, and Washington are also making moves. Miami looked terrible in the first round against Atlanta and they are doing nothing to improve their roster. Sure, Beasley and Chalmers will improve and O’neal might stay healthy enough to contribute, but none of those guys are all-stars and I think development from Chalmers and Beasley will be limited. The bench is not impressive, and you can’t really expect anymore from Wade then what he brought last year. I tthink they miss the playoffs.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 10:55am #195157
BasketballGuru24ParticipantI think they are not going to make it because of their depth…….and oneal is always injured. They have weak passing, besides chamlers and wade……Their three point percentage is not that great…..they lack alot
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 10:56am #195159
McWinningParticipantJames Jones could be decent if hes healthy.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 10:59am #195161
jeff416ParticipantIf Dwade is healthy they will make the playoffs he didnt have any help last year either and they made it plus they could get Boozer and Beasly and Chalmers will be improved.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:04am #195165
BasketballGuru24ParticipantWell Boozer isn’t there yet so why everybody depending on this guy……..If they don’t get boozer which is how its stands they will not make the playoffs
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:06am #195166
McWinningParticipantyou forget Sophmore year is the year where most players explode. Beasley, and Chalmers, i think will have Monster years
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:10am #195167
jeff416ParticipantThey will make the playoffs with or without Boozer he would just help them go farther. Beasly and Chalmer and even Cook will have great years next year and they have DWade the second best player on the planet(behind only Kobe of course).
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:13am #195169
BasketballGuru24ParticipantYou think they will have monster years……assumptions aren’t going to give you a definite answers, and until then we only base on current facts….beasley scored 14ppg last year i expect the same thing right now, so if sophmores have a crazy year what happen to sean may and after his okay rookie season, what happen to channing frye after his rookie season…..right now on paper it doesn’t look like they can go the distance
0- Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:26am #195181

Bryant24ParticipantBeasley scored 14ppg off the bench in limited playing time moon gone he going to shine jason terry was sixth man of the year i think and he had more playing time and he average 19.6 ppg i think beasley would of did that starting he is a beast. You need to stop sleeping on him

- Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:14am #195170
McWinningParticipantneither had the talent of Beasley.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:16am #195171
Knicks21I cannot see Chalmers anything like Rondo
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:21am #195174
McWinningParticipantactually Chalmers didnt do that much worse than Rondo. more steals, 2 less points, Rondo had 4 more assists but Chalmers already is a All-Star defender, and once he gets more confidence with his offense will be even better. but their defense is what makes both of them who they are.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:23am #195176

Bryant24ParticipantIf Wade is health they probably a eighth seed maybe a seventh seed and i dont think detroit is going to make it they in the rebuilding stage. Chalmers is a good point guard to me who has a knack for stealing the ball and Beasley is going to be a beast mark my words he lost twenty pounds he been working on his handles he got a nice stroke he is sick. Now that moon gone he going to shine i think.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:33am #195182

gatorheelsParticipantMiami has too many weak links lets be honest here. I don’t think they are going to make the playoffs. I think they are probably the 10th best team in the East now. This is how I view their roster: This is their most recent depth chart.
PG- Chalmers- slightly below average
SG- Wade- obviously one of the best players in the league
SF- Jones- has no business starting, way below average
PF- Haslem- slightly below average
C- Oneal- averageBench- WAY below average- pretty much all they have is Beasley (who should be starting at SF), & Cook is is not a good 6th or even 7th man. If they do start Beasley then that just makes their bench Super weak. I wouldn’t trust a single player coming off that bench then. Even with Besley starting their starting lineup still wouldn’t be that good.
Wade simply doesn’t have enough help. I think he is going to wear down.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:36am #195189
jeff416ParticipantAnyteam that has Wade on it will make the playoffs even if its the worst team in the NBA same with Kobe and Lebron.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:37am #195191

llperezAfter watching his rookie year, I thought he possibly should have gone a few spots lower in the draft behind guys like Mayo, Westbrook, and Lopez. He will put up great numbers scoring and rebounding, but he is one dimensional. He does’nt have a great all around impact on the game. He does’nt run the court, handle the rock, or shoot from deep well for a sf and he does’nt play physical enough for a pf. Regardless of position, he does’nt show signs of ever being a good defender or of creating for his teammates. His impact in this league will probably be along the same lines as a Glenn Robinson or something. He will put up numbers, but is’nt that true second option for Wade.
Chalmers is okay but nothing special. He was battling Chris Quinn for minutes so winning the starting spot was easy.
0- Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:57am #195205

Bryant24Participantdude he didnt start yall act like he’s goin to be a bust beasley is a beast and he he is athletic they got videos of him doing windmills when he was fifthteen beasley isnt slow his jumper just as good as lebron is just watch him this year done talking

BasketballGuru24ParticipantThats Exactly what im trying to prove gatorheel…….Wade Can only do so much till he just wears out. Their line-up is dependent on sophmores. They pretty much have no chance when their sophmores are considered lead players. They are good players, but with that line-up and bench i doubt they will do anything
Im pretty sure detroit is not in the rebuilding stage when they sign 2 big name free agents
0- Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 12:18pm #195233

Bryant24Participantthey have players who like to score hamilton stuckey and Gordon is very trigger and charlie like to score to who is there center is a stuckey is a point guard or shooting guard? rebuilding stage for sure

Knicks21Rondo averaged a Trip-Doub in the playoffs, Chalmers is not on his level.
I think Miami needs to add Boozer, Pull the move because if you do, you open up 32 mil of cap space in 2010 and you can add a Bosh
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:50am #195197
McWinningParticipantChalmers avareged 2 steals a game and 10 points. Rondo in his rookie year had 6 points, and exploded the year after.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:52am #195199

llperezyeah, but 10 points a game is’nt all that impressive when you are basically given the starting spot. How did he play in the playoffs when the pressure was on?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:53am #195201
Knicks21All I know is Rondo had 17ppg,9.8rpg and 9.6apg. He dominated. Plus I dont think Chalmers has the potential of Rondo
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:54am #195202
McWinningParticipantin the playoffs Jones, Oneal, and Wade were injured so it was tough they lucky to win 3 games.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:56am #195203
McWinningParticipantyou cant dismiss the regalur season Rondo only avareged 11.9 points a game.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 11:58am #195206

llperezBut Chalmers should have been able to step up his game if he was that good. I just don’t agree with you on his level of potential. He is solid and was a defenite steal for the Heat. But I don’t expect him to ever be anything close to an all-star. Eventually, he will probably be a back up on a good team.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 12:01pm #195208
McWinningParticipantand even though Rondo is a good defender. Chalmers was easilt the best rookie defender, (2.0 steals). while Rondo had 1.9. and getting 1.9 more points than somone is nothing to brag about if you’ve been in the league two more years than them.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 12:01pm #195209
Knicks21Yea because for most the season, they had the big 3 for most of the season, KG still played 57 games. For Rondo to play behind them and be the 4th scoring option is almost crazy to think about. He averaged a Trip-Doub in the playoffs against 4 good guards. Rose, Salmons, Hinrich nor Gordon could not stop him. Chalmers is alright not great, I dont see him being anything near Rondo IMO
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 12:03pm #195213
McWinningParticipanthe wont be as good of an attacker not as many assists either. but hes a better shooter nd defender.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 12:06pm #195219
Knicks21In thier Primes
Rondo- All-Star
Chalmers- Good BackupPlus Rondo is a better defender. SO all Chamlers has on him is shooting.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 12:08pm #195222
McWinningParticipantstats dont lie. Chalmers had more steals in the requler season and playoffs.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 12:11pm #195227
Knicks21True, But I would have more energy on D too if I wasn’t scoring alot and getting rebounds. Rondo gets killed because of a lack of a jumper but he is the best PG in the East. Chalmers at best is a starting PG on a above average team.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 12:13pm #195229
McWinningParticipantRondos not an All-Star. i think Harris and Rose and Moe Williams are better than him, and maybe even Calderon. and Arenas if hes healthy is better tan him too.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 12:17pm #195232

JBickart14ParticipantRondo numbers are exploited
he put up good numbers versus a rookie pg who struggled on defense all year
and hinrich didnt rele guard him he was guarding better offensive players (ray allen and paul pierce)
and ben gordon plays no defense
did he dominate anybody else in the playoffs0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 12:38pm #195250
billykParticipantStarters:
PG- Mario Chalmers (The best rookie PG in the east last year should improve his numbers from his rookie year)
SG- DWade (Another MVP type season)
SF- James Jones (solid three point shooting, decent defense)
PF- Udonis Haslem (started on a championship team and a lunch pail type player)
C- Jermain Oneal (can he stay healthy???)Bench:
Chris Quinn (can we say upgrade…)
Dequan Cook (soild 3pt shooter and a good defender)
Mike Beasley (I believe he will have a sixth man of the year type season)
Jamal Malgoire (solid back up center)The Heat have some holes especially on the bench and they lack true playmakers outside of Wade, but with that said I believe Beasely will have average around 18ppg 8reb this year and provide a second option to Wade…. I also believe that Chalmers will improve his scoring and overall confidence…. Potential teams in the East like Washington (healthy Arenas???), Sixers (PG play and chemistry), and the Pistons (chemistry and size) also have some issues they need to address…. I think it will he a dog fight to get the last 2 seeds between the 3 teams I mentioned above and the Heat, and Wade will be the diffrence maker…..
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 12:56pm #195273

thetruthParticipantsimply because pat knows he has to make a move now . with snake odom back in la. so expect to see boozer in miami next season. add a healthy wade who will continue to put up mvp numbers IF HEALTHY. a improve beasley, o’neal if hes healthy will also chip in plus chalmers should also improve.
