For those of you who are still trying to figure out why Memphis loses every night, check out the box score of the Memphis – Portland game last night. The entire team had a total of 11 assists. Are you kidding? Steve Nash can get that many by himself in one half.

Until those young, selfish guys in Memphis eventually understand that basketball is a team game, they’re going nowhere as they watch yet another season go down the drain.

They are statistically the worst defensive team in the NBA.

if you actually watch sometimes, conely does find people, so does mayo….even gay finds people…open shots…they miss…..so how many assists could be showing up? probably a few more per night.

the word “selfish” is tossed around here as if it was a brand new toy in a kindergarten class…everybody just wants to use it.

They’re a young team that’s struggling to get it together. YOUNG……

MEMPHIS LOSES BECAUSE OF DEFENSE….do you watch the grizzlies play?

I watched them play twice and whoever had the ball in his hand became the shooter. It was just like high school, the guy with the ball wasn’t giving it up.

In addition, nobody was cutting and moving without the ball and certainly nobody was looking to pass if there was a cutter.

I think you made a good point about the missed shots, but d-grizzly, 11 assists for an entire team is still a horrible stat.

i can agree that 11 assists is horrible for a team stat. i just want to clarify to you that the main reason they lose is because of poor defense and effort on the defensive end.

but there’s a known issue with the grizzlies since jason williams imo, they can create plays, but never execute them. leading to them looking like they’re selfish and all, but really, they do run plays and make passes.

also, if you look at the grizzlies bench, the most credible piece is carrol..a rookie. With iverson walking away, a large chunk of the bench help is missing. The grizzlies starting lineup is young and struggling to get things in place, they need an elite pg to run the show also, i think conely could come off the bench to provide some spark.

I’m siding with d-grizzly on this one. Conley, Mayo and even Gay aren’t selfish. Mayo and Gay don’t mesh well but it isn’t because they are selfish.

I won’t disagree with your assessment of their defense, or lack thereof, but I’ve always felt there’s a correlation between defense and offense. In other words, teams that don’t play hard on defense, are usually selfish on offense, going one on one, instead of playing as a team.
