THUNDERstruckParticipantwhat do you think will come to be of the memphis grizzlies. will they make the playoffs and then the team will fall apart or they will fullfill their potential and become a powerhouse in the nba?
i say that mayo leaves for a bigger market as soon as he can, thabeet fullfills some potential but not all of it, he will be solid but considered by many to be a bust.
i say the grizzlies fall apart

jeff416ParticipantIm a Grizzly fan and think we will be good next year because of Mayo and Gay but I think Thabeet was a dumb pick and think he will be a bust.

THUNDERstruckParticipanti think mayo is gonna turn out to be the next kobe bryant in my opinion. although i do acknowledge their games are different i think their careers will play out similarly. but also thats going to give mayo ego and hes gonna leave memphis for a big market. i hope the grizzlies stay together though they will be an interesting team to watch

THUNDERstruckParticipantnot saying they will this year. i say they deffinitely have a chance in 2 or 3 years. then if the team stays together they will become a fixture there for many years

jeff416ParticipantI do agree that Mayo will be a superstar and could be similar to Kobe but I think Memphis will be able to keep him if they start to win if not I think he will probably leave.

grizz32ParticipantMayo isnt going anywhere. We will match any offer a team gives him.

Bryant24ParticipantMayo and Gay can be a young duo similar to jordan and pippen im not saying they are good as them but they are young and they can get it together and if they work thabeet right he can be a decent center not a great one but a decent center a decent center is good these days because the nba is lacking one besides dwight and shaq and he is getting old. Conley is a good point guard imo. Pau little brother can play to me he just need to lay off the fried food lol. The problem with memphis is who the leader Mayo or Gay and i hope their egos dont clash. Memphis does not need iverson.

grizz32ParticipantI agree with what you said. Mayo and Gay will be a dominating duo in the future. And Conley will have his break out year this year. I think Thabeet will be a good Center in the future which is fine. And as for Marc Gasol check this out…..

sheltwon3ParticipantGrizzlie future does not look that bad and also in a time when a lot of teams are getting bargains Memphis has the money to buy a decent bench next year and hopefully they make moves to rid themselves of players they do not want.

d-grizzlyParticipantas soon as randolph is off the team and if memphis gets a lottery pick in the next draft, which they’ll draft a 4 ( PF ) …and if they can sign a good free agent or two, this team is back in the playoffs.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantThe problem is.. who wants to go to memphis? Unattractive markets such as memphis and portland has a hard time of getting players even if the team is good.

B-ball fanParticipantThey are terrible defensively and rebound poorly. Thabeet won’t solve that as he is not going to be a good rebounder. Mayo and Gay’s numbers are inflated by their lack of support. They could be a team that could compete in a few years, but they have a lot of holes. They need a point guard.

j1232eParticipantAll of Y’all memphis folks better get off your asses and get to some games this season or soon we will be talking about the Las Vegas Grizzlies or the Seattle Sonics/Grizzlies. Every memphis game I have watched all I see is empty seats. High schools get more spectaters.

wuteverParticipantGriz have a nice core of young guys, very talented/promising players, sad thing is you guys ended up with Z.Randolph.

butidonthavemoneyCan anybody really see the Grizzlies competing for a playoff spot any time soon?
The strangest thing is that unselfish, good defensive players go to Memphis and somehow transform into lazy defenders that are stat-orientated. Mike Conley, OJ Mayo, Rudy Gay are all examples of this perplexing phenomenon.
The organization is not commited to winning, or commited to the fans. God only knows what they are thinking going after Zach Randolph and Allen Iverson. Thabeet was another bad decision.
My heart goes out to their fans but it is hard to see the franchise doing anything positive this season.

Cosgrove03Participantnext year they need to draft a low post scorer and hopefully they get one of the top 2 picks should they can draft Ed Davis from UNC or Cole Aldrich from Kansas…what do you think?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/03/2009 - 2:26pm #195369

butidonthavemoneyCole Aldrich or Ed Davis would be great picks for Memphis. Davis if they want a little more footspeed and Aldrich for a little more muscle. The pick will greatly depend on how the Thabeet/Gasol experiment works out.
