The idea here is that too many NBA teams have blue as their main color. Eighteen to be exact, and that’s 60% of the league. To reduce that number, Memphis is changed from blue and yellow to brown and yellow. Bears are brown anyway. Brown on a uniform doesn’t work out too well very often, but this redesign really doesn’t hurt my feelings.

I’m not a big fan of the away uni, but the alternate is pretty cool IMO. I do think this color scheme would work better if the Griz were still in Vancouver though rather than Memphis.

what can brown do for you?  i like the thought behind it with too many blue uniforms in the league, but i can’t shake that they look like the Memphis UPS-Delivery-Men instead of the Grizzlies

I like the logo but not the jerseys, nice idea but maybe a different shade of brown could be used. Its hard to believe that 60% of the league uses blue it really doesnt seem like that many use blue.

It came to my attention shorty after I released these designs that Memphis plays in the FedEx Forum – oh, and Memphis is the headquarters of FedEx. So the brown probably isn’t very likely.

I like the current grizzlies jersey way better.  The model in these pictures has changed teams about as much as Quentin Richardson did back in the 2009 offseason.

If they’re going to change, why don’t they go with green and yellow? You don’t see that color scheme very often and it’s worked for the Oakland Athletics for years. I think that would look a lot better than brown uniforms. Maybe it would be ok if they went with a much lighter brown – kind of a khaki color – but I’m not feeling the mud color.
