CodySLCParticipantAs I sit here and watch them play I can’t help but cheer for them. Randolph can’t jump but is a straight monster. And their whole team plays hard. Tony Allen and Sam Young play with a lot of energy and toughness. They have a nice bench with Mayo, Battier, and Aurther. A good skilled 7 footer in Gasol, and a good young pg in Conley. And they made it to the second round as the 8th seed, without arguably their best all around player. Could this team be a contender for years to come especially since their still a young team? I think they will be. They need to resign Gasol and I think they should keep Mayo, and leave him as the 6th man. Funny thing is at the beginning of the year when I said they would make they playoffs I got negged. I don’t think anyone expected them to play like this tho.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThey have been a much better passing team since Rudy Gay went down. They have been operating inside-out and getting a lot of easy looks. Also, going with more Allen, Young, and Battier helps their defense a lot.

nateoak10ParticipantMaybe he isnt the best fit with that team, just throwing it out there

CodySLCParticipantYa he might be the first or second best player on the team. But maybe only the 3rd most important.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThe thing is that Memphis can replace Gay’s points from within and operate with a more efficient hierarchy without him. I wonder where he fits in to the offense next year. He shouldn’t be the first option. It has nothing to do with his abilities, but they are so much more difficult to guard when they are aggressively going inside.
The other thing is that Randolph really hasn’t had to work defensively. They put him on McDyess and Blair in the first round, so he didn’t really have to work. The same is the case against the Thunder because they don’t run their offense through their bigs. He is not a guy teams should want to let rest on the defensive end. Now, if one was to project them against the Lakers (still a long series), it would be a different story because Pau, Bynum, and Odom can all force him to work in the way really no other team in the West could.

B FreeParticipantWhere is the warbd(?) guy who said that Memphis wasn’t going to be a contender for another 5 years? Id say they look like one now.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’m still laughing at the people who said Memphis would only win one game in the entire series… And that Ibaka would shut down Randolph.

sheltwon3ParticipantI am laughing too, although I am hoping OKC wins because Lakers matchup better against OKC than Grizz.

Too coolParticipantImagine how Rudy Gay is feeling. being sidelined as his team performs well without him. and the critics (us) saying that they are better off without him. how sad

scliddiardParticipantI’ll admit, I’m one of those who thought OKC would win in 5, not likely, Memphis is tough, Memphis is playing better team ball, it sounds like Westbrook is shooting too much and forcing things. I thought OKC’s interior defense would be better at slowing down Randolph & Gasol. Hope OKC can at least force it to 6 or 7 games. I don’t care which team wins, just want some good basketball.

GrizzNationParticipantI said the Grizz was too talented down low, and the Thunder dont have an inside presence, name a team without a player you can throw it down low too and get a score, thats won a championship since the Chicago Bulls?!
Spurs-Duncan
Laker-Shaq
Detroit-Wallace
Lakers-Pau
Boston-Garnett
Miami-Shaq
Its not possible in this NBA all the glamour might go to the perimeter players, also if the Thunder only get production out of 2 players like they did today this will be a SHORT series
