Memphis has been sneeking up on the top western teams as is current the third seed. What seed for the playoffs do you think they’ll finish with.

By the end of the season, I see:

    1Thunder

    2Spurs

    3Lakers / Clippers

    4Clippers / Lakers / Memphis

    5Memphis / Dallas

    6Dallas / Memphis

The last two slots between Nuggets, Rockets, Portland and Minnesota

I see them edging out Dallas by a game or two. Memphis is a very good defensive team. They lead the league in steals. They have a defensive presence in Gasol and athletic wings in Allen-Conley-Mayo-Gay with Speights and Cunningham chasing the rebounds. They are a scary team if Randolph comes back, like the damage they did with San Antonio last year without Rudy Gay. Now this year, they have a complete line-up, they just need to mix and gel well in order to succeed.

I’m really surprise they’re still among the top 8,with Randolph out for most of the year..But they owe alot to Tony Allen for making this team become more focused defensively..Randolph has been participating in non-contact drills and might be back by the end of the month..Randolph is their most important player, but Rudy Gay is their most talented and when he’s on his game he has the talent to be a top 10 player in the nba..But he rarely gives that 100% every game like most top 10 players ,but until he does,he’s going to be among the nba top 25 players…

Memphis have a roster spot still open and they could really use some outside shooting..Speights has played better then anyone expected,if he keeps it up,i doubt if Memphis can afford to keep him this summer..he’s proven he can be a stater in this league..But there also been moments when he loses focus on the court and both the coaching staff and Rudy Gay has gotten on his case becuz of it,besides that Speights have been a godsend….Cunningham has been a good energy guy,he hits the boards ,runs the floor well and has a nice 10 foot shot,he’s really grown as a player…

Let’s see if now people start making "Memphis should trade Zach Randolph" threads, like people were making about Gay last year…Just kidding.

The team has been playing well, I’d also like to mention OJ Mayo, who has been a valuable team player providing offense for the second unit. I don’t know if memphis can keep this 3rd seed, but it’s a playoff team even without z-bo.

I think as the Grizzlies are constructed right now they are in the mix for that 3 seed maybe even the frontrunner cause i dont think anyone can catch San Antonio or OKC. But its going to be a hell of a race for the last playoffs spots in the west. But the seeding 3-6 might not be that important, cause the teams are so close. And i think that as long as ur team is able to at least avoid OKC in the first round maybe even San Antonio (Even after what happend last year) it might just be a toss up. Every team has a good chance to advance.

Both the East and West Conferences are stacked. At least 9 teams are fighting for that 8 slots per conference. But the Western Conference is more exciting to watch. We have Portland, Houston, Utah, Phx, Denver, Minnesota tussling it out for the last 2 slots. Any of those teams can qualify. Too bad the season is shortened so there’s little room for error for those teams.

If Tony Allen isn’t all defensive first team, that team means less than nothing.  He’s a beast – best on ball defender since Bowen’s prime (sorry Andre I).
