ronniemiller1kParticipantthe nets are going in a solid direction and favors, even though im not completely sold on him as an all-star type player, should be a legit 14 and 10 pf within the next 2 years. to trade him and harris and draft picks for melo seems fair but is it worth it? they seem to have a direction and plan and i like it. harris is a legit pg and i think with johnson at the helm pushing defense and the better shooters we brought in he will have an all-star season again. i know melo brings star power and is an instant attraction for the nets, but a solid 4 that will get on boards and is athletic as favors is getting rarer these days…a melo type scorer seems more likely to come around including this years draft with barnes and jones etc. what does everyone think? do the nets have to make a push at melo or can they get back to being a legit playoff contender in a couple years with the plan they have in place?

joecheck88Participanti wouldnt trade favors, harris, or lopez for melo. i would be willing to give them anybody else. maybe damion james, t will, and troy murphy(expiring). i dont know if that is good enough but james and t will have potential to be good players but athletic wings with their skills arent terribly rare and could be replaced in the next draft. sign melo to an extension and this team by year 3 would be a contender for a championship. harris, melo, lopez, and favors would be a hell of a group to build around. and with everyone being relatively young they would contend for about a 5 year period.
i dont know how possible it would be to get melo though. but like i said i wouldnt give up favors, lopez or harris because it is harder to replace good young pgs and big men than it is athletic wings(especially ones with mediocre shooting).

Mr. 19134ParticipantYou Nets fans are crazy if you wouldn’t package Favors in a trade for Melo. Granted it would be better if you keep him but I would trade Harris, and Favors for Melo all day.
You now got a starting lineup of:
Jordan Farmar
Terrence Williams
Carmelo Anthony
Troy Murphy
Brooks Lopez
with Travis Outlaw coming off the bench thats good enough for like a 5th seed in the EastThe Nuggets now got Favors, Harris, Nene, and JR Smith to build around with cap room next year. The deal works out for both parties.
