You have to pick one of these guys to start a franchise with right now. Who you taking? Why?

I am DEFINETLY taking Durant right now. He is in his third season, number 2 in points. averaging 7.5 rebounds and is leading his team right now. Imagine him in 5 years.

This is a really good question. I’d have to go with Durant because I have never seen somebody make so much progress so quickly since getting into the league. He is only 21 and he is not even in his prime yet. Melo is in his prime. I kno this is premature but down da road, I think Kevin Durant is gonna b 1 uv the best players ever.

it’s hard to take durant over melo, but esp. for the long-term, i gotta take KD. Its hard to believe that Melo is 6 yrs pro, but he is

kevin durant is a hell of a player having a hell of a season. will his body hold up up? can he continue this type of success? too many questions as of TODAY for me to take kevin durant over carmelo anthony, who i believe is a ‘once in a generation’ take player with huge ability to post you up or hit the jumper… a physical player and a world class scorer basically. now with that being said i want to see carmelo take his team to the finals this year and i think he will. kevin durant is a great player and may make this choice different in a season or two but today im taking anthony.

It’s a matter of preference as they have the same strengths and weaknesses. I’d choose Durant because he’s such a matchup nightmare and goes about his scoring in such an effortless way.

of course most would go with durant since hes younger. most would say melo if the ages were switched. when 2 players are both real good with no clear cut lead then the younger person tends to lead

I take durant becaue his stats increase every year and he’s only 21 so he years away from his potential and i think he is the better scorer in my opinion and the better rebounder both good work on gettin more assists but if i had to pick one i say durant but i would be happy if i got durant or melo

The most difficult thing is to pick Durant over Melo, especially when I have suffered the loss of my team, to OKC. But I have no regret in saying that Durant is the most talented shooting guard in the NBA, will he develop? Most assuredly if he avoids injury. He rebounds with vigor, his offense is on par with Melo, and I think he may become at some point a superior defender. When the Sonics store went out of business I bought every Durant jersey I could find, Gold, White, Green, his shoes sitting on the discount rack for %75 off, got those too. While all these fair weather fans laughed at me when I wore them in his honor. Now with two NBA official jerseys put up for posterity, never to touch skin until someday I can get him to sign them, I feel validated. Both Durant and Anthony will be HOF worthy in the end, but in Durant I see top 10 SG potential, never have we seen a player of his height with his handle and shooting ability, and I know from sources inside the former Sonics organization that this young man LIVES FOR HOOP, he will not party, he will not stop until he is one of the best to ever do it. It is bittersweet to see him develop now somewhere else, but i saw 34 games that final season and I can say it was evident to everyone in attendance that greatness was in the building. We came every night and died a slow death just to say we saw HIM at 19-20, knowing the losses would mount. But I can honestly tell my kids I SAW HIM UNLEASH THE SONIC BOOM before he brought the THUNDER. KD is just scratching the surface of his greatness, and watching his happiness from afar is THE MOST DIFFICULT THING!

durant is a good rebounder but not as good as people keep thinking. if so then deng rebounds with vigor as well since he gets more boards a game. theres a couple sf who rebound about the same as durant so id say hes a above average for his postition at 7.4

if you were asking me who i’d choose to win a championship this year? … i’d take melo – but obviously if we’re talking about developing a franchise you’re always going to take the younger of the two when choosing between two great players

… plus, in 5 years i think it’s possible we might be having this same conversation, only with KD and Lebron

Durant needs to add some weight, but will the weight affect what he’s doing now. i don’t know how his fraigle frame will hold up in the long run. But I still have to pick Durant

i think hes alright with the weight he has. i could see if he was struggling or couldnt finish with contact but he is second in scoring and leading his team to wins and is young. he will naturally get a lil bigger and stronger but i dont think weight will ever be a issue as sf

What is this? year 3? KG came into the league around the same size and got a lil bigger and stayed consistant. i just wondered if his body would wear down in time.

yeah but kg played pf. and kd has gotten bigger since coming into the leauge. not sure by how much but by watching him you can clearly see it. and since his game is more jump shots then driving and banging its not much of a issue. it would be if he had a wade type game. but his is more like a reggie miller type game. and t.prince has had many years without injury before this year

Yea he’s a good 10-15 lbs bigger than when he 1st came….I looked like he had an eating disorder when he 1st got to the NBA, but now he looks somewhat bigger. I don’t think added weight would hurt, but I don’t know how much bigger he can get because he has those narrow shoulders.

Starbucks Sucks, It’s hard for me too. I am a Sonics fan as well, and it sucks to see this team this good in such a short amount of time. Even though it sucks for us, we have to be happy for KD and all them. I would definitely take KD because of his youth, him being 6’10” with a 7’5″ wingspan who could probably play a point guard if he wanted to, and he is a really good free-throw shooter as well.

ok lets not get carried away with him playing pg. this seems to always happen when a player gets to siuper star level.. like the guy at the park who does a dunk or scores 30..by the time it gets to the 5th person he did a 360 windmill and scored 50 while being checked by 3 guys

He’s been injured, so I guess it’s out of sight out of mind because a lot of y’all are forgetting what Melo was doing at the beginning of the season.

Melo is a beast. You can’t guard him. We already know what he can do on the perimeter, but he can also dominate you in the post. Durant can’t do that yet. Melo has also became a clutch player. Durant isn’t at that level yet. He hasn’t been that good during the clutch this season.

Give me Melo for AT LEAST two more seasons.
