JDB12ParticipantI was shocked when I saw that LiAngelo Ball had 72 earlier this year, and then last night Melo had 92!!! Crazy right?! No. I had never seen a Chino Hills game before, and the video BallIsLife.com has shows pretty much the whole game and it’s painful to watch. All it was is LaMelo sitting at the opposing team’s 3pt line and whenever the opponenets missed or made a shot, a Chino Hills player would lauch the ball to Melo for a layup. The crazy thing is the Chino Hills opponents just kept letting them do it! And LaMelo played maybe 10 defensive possessions the whole game. And what I mean by play is he would cross the half court line and try to reach for a steal and if he didn’t get he’d go get ready to cherry pick. To his credit he is very talented, but I’m not sure how he has Division I offers when that’s the kind of basketball they play. And I would be thoroughly embarrassed if I was either of those team’s coaches allowing my team to play like that.

BallerScriptParticipantThey are rewriting the way to get wins at the highschool level and I would be truly amazed if a college or even a pro team adapted such an offense and pulled it off.

BleedGreen808ParticipantDidn’t Vivek Ranadive suggest playing defense 4 on 5 with a player cherry picking a couple years ago?

llperezI’ve seen numerous highlight videos and a handful of full games of chino hills these past 3 years and I agree the lamelo ball defense is pathetic. He just reaches for steals and then immediately starts running back to the offensive end. That obviously won’t fly at next level. But as for getting d1 offers, he is a sophomore who actually should be a freshman, they advanced him a year so he could play a year with Lonzo. So basically you have a freshman in highschool putting up video game numbers with a ridiculous handle, passing skills and jumpshot. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that the pathetic defense and questionable shot selection gets under control at ucla.

binetParticipantHe is a sophomore at a sophomore age sorry: born in august 2001. His brother were freshmen when they should be sophomores rather. Lonzo is one year older than UCLA teammate Anigbogu.

theballerwayParticipantOak hill he looked really good in the 1st half. had about 28 I think. They lost the gane though but he looked like a futeure problem. That shot is crazy but he makes quite a few. Didnt reailise he was Freshman age though adds to his intrigue

Roland209ParticipantI guess it sucks being the middle child. He’s not a 5 star like his brothers.

BiggysmallsParticipantYeah that highlight video is a total joke. Absolutely pathetic basketball.
If that makes me a crusty "get off my lawn" guy then so be it. Not even entertaining.
I won’t pretend to know much about the Ball bros or their situation but in the little I’ve seen of the dad, he seems like a total nut bag. Not in the entertaining way, he seems like the "living vicariously through his kids a little too much" kind of guys and I get a bad vibe from him. Doesn’t surprise me that he lets his kid play that kind of basketball…total clown in my limited opinion.
