Meditated StatesParticipantShould the Celtics trade Ray Allen. Try to get Meeks and some Extra players for him. They would save money and get a player who fits into their sytem right in Allens slot to run the same plays. They would also get some extra help too.Allen had two horrible games that cost the Celtics in the Orlando series scoring 9 and 5 in two games that they would have won if he gave them 15. 15 would have still been below his average so he could be getting old. What do you think?

bobbygillerDude you cant be serious, did you watch the celtics in the playoffs? Sure ray had a few off nights but how many games did he take over in the 4th quarter, how about the 50+ he dropped on the bulls in the first round. Allen hit some amazing shots to win games in both the regular season and in the playoffs and is one of the true clutch shooters in the game, do you really expect Jodie Meeks to step in and replace him?

Meditated StatesParticipantI am from Boston so yes I seen all his work and I am serious. He is in his mid 30’s and yes I saw the 50 point game. He will be a free agent after next season so it’s do or die right now with him too though. I am a fan but business is cold so. Fact is the way he played in those two games cost us. He did not exploit JJ Redick at all either. I say get a couple picks and grab Meeks while your at it. Spend the money on a free agent that you save from Allen.

SmooveKRYPTParticipantIf they could get their hands on Wayne Ellington then I could see them trading Ray, but idk about Meeks in Boston…he likes to dominate the ball and that’s not gonna happen on a team w/ Rondo, Pierce, & KG…Ellington is a better shooter coming off screens, and is more comfortable playing that way!!!

knicksfan7Participantliljkwon1 Meeks won’t be allowed to dominate the ball with Rondo, Pierce, and KG they will keep him in check. I saw Meeks best performance, he develops that jumper and 3 ball he’ll be Ray2. I am a knicks fan, so I have no bias here. I agree with scout4real.

rose2dabullzParticipantMeeks, but this is Ray Allen we are talking about here..you don’t replace Ray Allen with Jodie Meeks..If he were that good, he would be being picked higher

Meditated StatesParticipantMeeks does not take many shots to score he is the most efficient shooter in this draft along with Ellington. He does not dominate the ball because that is not his game. He is Ray Allen2 to me as well. Gilbert Arenas was a second round pick and he was that good so where he is drafted won’t change his production.

rose2dabullzParticipantyour ray allen 2.0 being taken 55th right now..sure there are a few second round picks every year that become solid NBA players, but I don’t think you base your team around this chance, hoping Meeks turns into something..and I just don’t think you break hope the team chemistry the celtics have, who knows they may have beaten the Lakers again had KG not gotten injured..you just don’t break something like that up

Meditated StatesParticipantThey would have beaten the Lakers with a healthy KG. Trust me the Celtics have no intentions of sighning Ray after this season because of his age. So if you think Meeks is deadly from outside grab him. And this is one sites mock which means nothing. Meeks is better than 55th just like we all disagree with where a lot of other players are slotted.

rose2dabullzParticipantI think they would resign ray, despite his age..I think they should first target a pg to back up rondo with there picks, and then move on from there..All I am saying is in the second round you don’t draft a guy really based on team needs, you just take the bpa and hope that one day he turns into a solid role player

Meditated StatesParticipantI hear you. Just an option for them if they like Meeks. Meeks is going to be the real deal, he is getting slept on big time.

jcjParticipantI think Allen has much more value to Boston, who needs to win now and who Allen can help with perhaps 1 or 2 good years left. He actually doesn’t have much trade value outside Boston except as an expiring contract (given his 18M or so pricetag). Only a team that is a contender now would give up anything of value to the Celtics, and given that the Celtics also need to win now, they are better off keeping him than trading him to a competitor (say Cleveland) for talent that blossoms down the line, since by then KG and Pierce would be out or on the way out.

UC1000Participantsay Meeks is a nice player but Allen is a HOF guy. Meeks maybe Ben Gordon at best and that isn’t Ray on his average days in his prime 96-05 years.

Meditated StatesParticipantHe is the best shooter ever, but he cost us those two games with his bad play. I won’t get into how many bad turnovers he commited throughout that series. He buried us and I love Ray. He looked old the way he was turning that ball over. He is very turnover prone too if you look at the stats the C’s were one of the worst in the league and he was 1st or 2nd on the team in that area. People get caught up on the past and his shooting he made some big mistakes in that Orlando series and he is just getting older. I would take Ben Gordon now for Ray just based on age and he can shoot lights out too. Ray is maybe the most clutch shooter in the history of the NBA,but thats all he can give us now. We need someone who can shoot and do a little more right now. Meeks average 28 points a game on 17 shots. He does not miss often just like Ray. All they need is for him to come off of screens and shoot, spot up in the corner Rondo pass out shoot.
